The Bell of Time (Toki no kane) in Kawagoe,Saitama,Japan
The Bell of Time (Toki no kane) is a bell tower originally built by the order of Sakai Tadakatsu between 1624 and 1644. The present structure goes back to 1894, a year after the Great Fire of Kawagoe. It is a three-story tower measuring 16 meters in height. (Wikipedia)

These images were shot on a rainy Sunday (July 14, 2019)... see how popular that area is? The rain didn't prevent tourists from visiting the area! Because it is a very nice area with lots of good food and beautiful old buildings.

Toki no Kane( The Bell Of Time), Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture,Japan
‘Toki no Kane (The Bell of Time)’, a symbol of Kawagoe, is a clock tower that rises above the streets lined with historical Kura-style buildings that has been familiar with the public since the beginning of the Edo Period.
It is said that Sakai Tadakatsu, a Kawagoe feudal master, was the first to build such a clock tower approximately 400 years ago. It has been burned down by numerous fires, but has been rebuilt each time.
The current clock tower is the 4th generation that was rebuilt in 1893 after the big Kawagoe fire. This was done so by merchants who put aside rebuilding their own stores in order to quickly reconstruct the clock tower.
As time passed, the method of ringing the bell has changed from manual to mechanical. However, it still towers over the streets lined with historical Kura-style buildings and informs the town of the time. In 1996, the beautiful tone of the bell has been recognized as one of the ‘100 Sound Sceneries of Japan’....

Time Bell Tower (Toki no Kane) Kawagoe
This tower bell (Toki no Kane) has been rung to announce the time since the early Edo period. It has become a symbol of little Edo, Kawagoe. The bell rung four times daily (6:00am, 12:00pm, 3:00pm, 6:00pm) and its sound has been selected as one of 100 soundscapes of Japan. This footage is taken at 12:00pm June 6th 2015.

If you're a fan of samurai or the movie 47 Ronin, you should check out Kawagoe, a town in Saitama Prefecture which is just 30 minutes away from central Tokyo (former Edo)! The town is more known as KOEDO which means Little Tokyo.
This place will give you the chance to experience the traditional Japan -- a long long time ago when samurai rules. Aside from being a historical town, it has a bunch of relaxing attractions/sightseeing spots which I have listed below.

Koedo, which means Little Edo, is a great place to experience Japan circa 1603 to 1867. Its old wooden warehouses, classic bell tower, old-fashioned candy shops, castle and temple offer a glimpse of what life was like several centuries ago when the area prospered as a transportation and commerce hub.
The old storehouse merchant houses are lined up, and the Toki-no-kane (Bell Tower)
rings to tell the time.
Take a stroll through the town in a kimono and you'll feel as if you've traveled back in time to ancient Edo.

A tour of the very touristic but yet endearing Kurazukuri area in Kawagoe town.
It is only 30 minutes away by train from Tokyo center but it will enable you to make a time slip right into the Edo period.
Kawagoe used to be the town where lots of food was stored this is why there are still those old storehouses. They have been turned into beautiful shops.
At 19'10, I will taste a sweet potato and chocolate sweet that was SO SO good!
The souvenir shop tour is a feast for the eyes too!
And we were lucky enough to hear the Kawagoe Clock Tower, the Bell of Time or Toki no Kane in Japanese, ring at 3 pm. The Bell rings out only four times a day at 6 a.m., 12 noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m so we were there at a pretty good time of the day.
In 1996, the Bell Tower's ringing was designated as one of the 100 Best Sound Sceneries in Japan to be protected by the Ministry of the Environment.

This time, my apato friends and I (mba andri, nia and elita)went to an old town called little Edo in Kawagoe, Saitama Japan, an interesting place in Tokyo. There, we saw bell of time tower (toki no kane) when it is ringing. we also visit some temples in there. well, i felt guiIty for not wearing yukata and not liking the famous purple sweet potato soft ice cream. not to mention for could not afford to take jinrinkisha, japanese unique traditional vehicle. Still, it is another great time to remember. feels like time traveling to the past.
