Tokiwa Summer Festival is held once a year in summer and located in Tokiwa Park in Ube city. There are numerous stage performances and entertainments that can be found in this event, such as Hawaiian dance, taiko (Japanese percussion instrument), mapo dofu eating competition, amusement park attractions, food stalls from selling foods from many countries, and many more.

A wabi sabi and free theme park come nature reserve in Ube City 40 minutes by train and a ten minute walk from Shin-Yamaguchi bullet train (shinkansen) station. The rides are a bit rusty but inexpensive and for me quite thrilling. The scenery is beautiful. The Japanese monkeys enjoy being fed. Please go.

Yosakoi (よさこい) is a unique style of dance that originated in Japan. This style of dance is highly energetic, combining traditional Japanese dance movements with modern music.
One of the defining aspects of yosakoi dance is the use of of big flags and naruko, small wooden clappers. Naruko were originally used to scare birds away from rice fields.
