Tok.Talkz.nz Waikato Regional submission fiber optic link up (part 2) May 2015
As we set up a new fiber optic cable to the home we have a submission to give at 3.30pm (1530hr) 6 May 2015 from Tokoroa to Hamilton 1,5 hours drive away.
Over the week my suggestions has been championed for a video link up. (save $100 in petrol and running costs in a car and 4 hours of time in a day while making use of the new fiber optic cable run to all homes in Tokoroa (pop 12,000) in South Waikato District here in New Zealand.
1. central government provides for all council meetings to be streamed to the community live
2. regional and district local territorial authorities have an archives of public meeting with tags to link to what is being discussed
3. submission hearings capture a good video presentation of each submitter with accompany documentation
4, with social media now and record breaking audiences to x-factor and the nation has got talent we see to that good management of our democracy can have text voting on important issues for the community. A Rhyn Seacrest and a Simon Cowel to present and judge with a live audience. Each submitter can be buzzed out. The winner is the person who has the best innovation for the world, nation, region, district, community board.
5. council has a big part to play in home ownership and providing stability for family life. this role world be best coming under public health in its broadest sense and also removing from council the alcohol and pokie machines allocation process that needs also be removed from a public health administration for enforcement and taken in at central government level
Bucket Racing
Bucket Racing (Motorcycle racing)
To see my blog click here:
A lot of you know the story of Regina and I and how we left NZ a year ago and have been traveling full time ever since. So I wanted to share something that you may or may not already know about us and that is our passion for motorbikes and bucket racing.
Let me explain what Bucket racing is all about.
I prefer to race buckets as apposed to the larger bikes like my old R1. Some of the main reasons being:
*It is a lot cheaper, you can build a competitive bucket racer for under 3K
*It is a lot safer as the top speed is about 100km per hour
*The bikes are cheaper to repair if you crash
*The racing is way more competitive in my mind because of the smaller track and it really is down to the skill of the rider and not how much power your bike has.
*There is less chance of getting hurt when you crash.
*The people are just awesome!
So what is a Bucket? (The basics)
Buckets are commuter and non-competition bikes that are put on the race track and called F4 and F5.
Buckets have two engine capacity classes:
F4
2 stroke 55-100cc
2 stroke 55-125cc air cooled
4 stroke 55-150cc
F5
2 stroke 0-50cc
4 stroke 0-100cc air cooled
Engines must be derived from non-competition motorcycles.
Motocross, Road Racing, Enduro and Go Kart motors and transmission parts are not permitted. There shall be no restriction on the make, type or design of carburettor, ignition, exhaust, piston, cam, valve springs or cooling system except for class eligibility. All engines must be normally aspirated except F4 4 stroke engines of less than 100cc capacity, which may be turbo or supercharged. F4 2 stroke engines over 104cc are restricted to carburation equivalent to a single 24mm carburettor, F5 4 stroke engines over 53cc are restricted to carburation equivalent to a single 20mm carburettor.
Alcohol based fuel or fuel additives are prohibited.
Bike Preparation
You will need some duct tape, tie wire or electrical zip ties.
Tyres must be up to W.O.F. standard or Race Slicks.
Mirrors need to be removed.
Handlebar ends need to be plugged.
Lights and indicators to be removed.
Side stands, passenger footrests and centre stands need to be taken off.
Sump and oil plugs MUST be lockwired.
Water ONLY in radiators unless MNZ approved.
Bring some tools to prepare your bike.
Allow enough time to do this at the track or do it the night before and trailer your motorbike to the track.
Remember to check tyre pressures, chain tension, oil and water levels, brake fluid levels, brake pads and bring fuel.
Buckets must have:
• Plugged handlebars.
• Folding or nylon footpegs (kart track racing only)
• Anything that could mark the track must be nyloned over or bungs added to prevent them touching the track (kart track only). These must be very secure.
• Wired sump and oil plugs.
• Adequate front and rear brakes.
• No broken clutch and brake levers .
• Must remove side stands or wire them up and nylon protectors.
• Must have secure attachments for all parts of the bike.
• No dangerous attachments.
• Have no excessive leakage from fuel caps.
• Have all lights and mirrors removed.
• A catch tank for any fluids that might leak or overflow such as crankcase or gearbox breathers, float bowls etc.
Riding gear you will need
A motorcycle helmet that is in good condition, we recommend a good clean visor, or goggles. MNZ standards 8-2-1 and should be no older than 10 years.
Leather boots, motocross or touring type will do. Must be full height, MNZ 8-1
Leather gloves.
Back protector.
Full racing or touring leathers or, leather jacket of motorcycle riding type (not dress type), leather motorcycle pants which zip to the jacket.
This is me on my bucket just before we left NZ to travel the world (about a year ago).
My bike is #55 and I’m wearing the blue and white and black leathers with the silver helmet.

Tīrau, corrugated-iron capital - Roadside Stories
A giant dog and sheep tower over the main street of Tīrau, just two of a series of sculptures and buildings made from corrugated iron -- a common building material in New Zealand. The quirky sculptures were designed and erected by Steven Clothier of Corrugated Creations as part of an effort to revitalise the town from the late 1980s.

This is a very good online drum tutorial program that is great value for money If you are wanting to play drums it might be a first good step for you . Stick Technique
Your key to better drumming
Presented by Drumming Clinician Jim McCarthy
Let me introduce myself. My name is Jim McCarthy.
I'm a drum clinician and teacher, and have specialized in pure technique for many years. I consider myself still a student as well, because I have a passion for constantly learning. I learn every day when I watch other drummers, and I analyse what works and what doesn't. Performing, Educating and Learning have been my life and my living for well over 20 years.
I've had a tremendously broad background in drumming. I've played in rock bands, orchestras, marching bands - everything from high-brow contemporary music to Latin American stuff.
I spent six years at university studying percussion performance full time, and I ended up with a Masters Degree in percussion. During that time I studied every aspect of drumming technique and every kind of drumming, from rudimental drumming, to orchestral percussion. Even Japanese Drumming!
Now you may not have heard of me because I've never played for a major Headline band. YES - I do gig regularly with various bands, and I get to travel to other countries to do so - and YES I have even performed snare drum solos to audiences of over a thousand people.
Does that give me credibility as a performer? Sure it does! But there are actually quite a few drummers in the world that could make the same claim.
Does it give me credibility as a world class drumming technician and teacher? NO. There are very few drummers who can do this well.
What DOES give me the credibility to write this unique manual of drumming technique is the 17 years I've dedicated to teaching drum technique and helping drummers all over the world.
Teaching, and creating learning resources are like anything else - they need practise to do well - and I have had years of practise, dedicating myself to the art of teaching. Now I'm not telling you all this to brag - I simply want you to understand why I am one of the very few drumming technicians in the world who is genuinely qualified to produce this book - Stick Technique

Coal and clay from Huntly - Roadside Stories
The coal seams around Huntly have been mined since the 1870s, and today provide about 40% of New Zealand's coal, feeding the massive Huntly power station and the Glenbrook steel mill. Local clay is the source of Huntly's distinctive bricks, as well as of iconic Crown Lynn pottery.

Rangiātea church, Ōtaki - Roadside Stories
In 1995 New Zealand was shocked by the arson attack that destroyed Ōtaki's beautiful Rangiātea church. Ornately decorated with Māori kōwhaiwhai patterns and tukutuku panelling, the church -- built in the 1840s -- symbolised Māori and European desires to live peacefully. A replica of the destroyed building was completed in 2003.
