Thousands attended the opening of the 2019 Tokyo Game Show in Chiba's Makuhari fairgrounds on Thursday to try upcoming video games that have recreated the likeness of actors such as Keanu Reeves and Norman Reedus.
Footage shows the booths at the Tokyo Game Show, including highly anticipated titles such as the Final Fantasy VII remake, Cyberpunk 2077, Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding and the next entry in the Call of Duty franchise.
A notable trend in this year's roster of games is the inclusion of Hollywood actors within the game, as Cyberpunk 2077 stars a digitally recreated Reeves, while Death Stranding features half a dozen high profile actors including Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, and Lea Seydoux.
The Tokyo Game Show is set to conclude on Sunday, September 15.

Japan Trip (2017) - Chapter 3: Chiba (Tokyo Game Show & cosplays!)
As a video game person, one of the biggest reasons I wanted to do this trip was to visit the Tokyo Game Show! It is a video games convention, where many companies show previews and demos of their latest games!
It takes place at the Makuhari Messe. It is one of the biggest convention centers in Japan and holds many events per year.
To get there, I had to use the Keisei private line. It is not a valid line for the JR pass. The reason was that it was a lot faster to get to the convention center from there. Also, I had to meet my next host at Tsudanuma Station! Oh, and it sounds like Kensei too, I guess!
Anyways, the Tokyo Game Show is crazy! I expected to see things that you cannot see in other conventions in the world, and I was not disappointed! An Ultraman versus Godzilla fighting game? Visual romance novel booths? Guns (yeah, not even joking here!)? Plenty of good looking ladies presenting video games? What more can you ask for?

Japan Trip (2018) - Chapter 1: Tokyo Game Show (4K 60FPS)

My first stop is a little visit to the Tokyo Game Show! As a video game person, I had to be there again this year knowing that some of my favorite games are going to be showcased there! Basically, this is Japan's E3 and the place to be for gamers, and let me tell you, our Japanese friends are real fans of games!
Once again, TGS takes place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba this year. Public days are from Saturday to Sunday. I went to both days because I had a lot of things to see!
To get there from Tokyo, we need to take 2 trains. The trains are always on time! We stop at Kaihimmakuhari station and make our way to the convention center. When we enter the site, there is already a bunch of activities and stuff to see! The entry to the show itself is very clear thanks to the staff members. I've arrived early and there were already a lot of people!
Once inside, I've headed straight to the Capcom booth. This year, the company was showcasing Resident Evil 2 Remake, Devil May Cry 5 & Mega Man 11. I got some pretty sweet swag! There was also a special DMC5 presentation with producer Matt Walker and game director Hideaki Itsuno. I even got a picture with Itsuno and he complimented my T-shirt (which was obviously not intended, ahem)! Dante's voice actor, Reuben Langdon, even made a special guest appearance! This party's getting crazy!
After that, I went to see all of the booths! The most impressive one was definitely the PlayStation one! They let us go inside and there were many many games that we could try out. I mostly stood back and took footage of the games as it was permitted. Good guys Sony win this year!
Other activities there are obviously the merchandise area where you buy souvenirs. I got myself a few Tokyo Game show T-shirts! There's also an Indie Game Area where you can try out a bunch of very interesting games! Monster Boy was there and it looks amazing! Also, big shoutouts to the cosplayers, some of them were amazing!
So that was it for Tokyo Game Show this year. I'd love to come back next year as it's always a fun experience!

TOKYO GAME SHOW Virtual Reality VR Experience ★ ONLY in JAPAN #37
Tokyo Game Show is the ultimate event spotlighting the next year's upcoming video games and is held annually at Makuhari, Chiba, a 20 minute train ride from Tokyo Station. In this episode, I return to TGS after a year off to check out what's changed.
VIRTUAL REALITY
This seemed to be the real champion of this years event.
In 2013 SONY had a VR headset unit on display, but the games weren't very realistic. It was more of a monitor inside goggles to me.
This year, SONY showed that it has some serious chops in the VR field with it new VR unit. They let me have a go at a multi-player game.
LOVE LIVE
I tried out a new Japanese dance game where girls (or possibly confused boys) can become a cute idol and dance with their friends while playing a game using a sensor that registers foot steps.
To a popular idol tune, step into the circle when the beat comes your way. Miss it and your friends will probably pound on you for failing miserably. On this day though, I was with a bunch of guys who were just as confused as me. However, the game was rocking and a lot of fun.
The Most Amazing Booth Ever!
The Granblue Fantasy booth was absolutely gigantic!
Ridiculous!
It's a social media game that has taken off in a big way in Japan, making it's way to the international markets later this year.
I'm not sure how to play the game, but what I do know is that their booth was another world.
The centerpiece was a full sized ship where cosplayers could pose for photos, even up in the sails!
Of course there are so many other amazing booths to visit with a lot of new companies entering the gaming market like Amazon, Google, loads of Indie games from different Asian countries. Taiwan and Singapore had good showings. Even YouTube was on site showing off technology that allows gamers to live stream themselves playing, recording the action.
All in all, Tokyo Game Show was a massive success on the day I went. It's worth spending a day, sit down and try some games – the lines can be long. I had to wait 45 minutes for the Sony VR game, but it was really worth it!
