Tokyo Horse Races in JAPAN w/ Chris from OkanoTV! とある日東京競馬場の経験。Today I'll be showing you guys my experience at the Tokyo Race Course (Keibajou) in Fuchu, Tokyo with Chris from OkanoTV and our friend K-Lan! We got to pick our favorite horses, visit the UMAJO (Horse-themed) cafe, try traditional foods, watch the horse race and more! The karaage was BOMBB! Tokyo Racecourse is located in Fuchu, a short 30-minute ride by express train from central Tokyo. Built in 1933, the Tokyo Racecourse has 13,750 seats and a capacity of 223,00 fans. Offering a view of Mt. Fuji to the southwest, this is the Japan Racing Association's largest racecourse. Many famous races are run here including the Japan Cup, Japan Cup Dirt, Japanese Derby (Tokyo Yushun), and the Yasuda Kinen. It is the Japan Racing Association's biggest racetrack, with a turf, dirt and jump course, and races are run to the left.

A grand opening was held in 2007 after the completion of seven years renovation work.
The major races are the Japan Cup (G1), the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) (G1), the Tenno Sho (Autumn) (G1), the Yasuda Kinen (G1), the Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) (G1), the February Stakes (G1), the NHK Mile Cup (G1) and the Victoria Mile (G1).

Horseracing in Japan - Tokyo City Keiba ᴴᴰ ● 大井競馬場
► After Baseball and Football, Horseracing is the third biggest thing in Japan with more than 21.000 horseraces held each year all over Japan.
A lot of people enjoys spending an entire day (and evening) at the racetrack, betting, eating and drinking, perhaps even taking a nap in between the numerous races.
Toko City Keiba (TCK) is located in Oimachi, Shinagawa, and TCK provides free shuttlebuses from Oimachi Station. There's a fun and exciting atmosphere, admission fee is just 100Yen, as JRA (Japan Racing Association) makes most of their profit from bets.
Give it at try next time in Tokyo, it's fuuuuun. - Enjoy!

Very spacious and modern, the Tokyo Race Course in Fuchu, Tokyo is a huge facility not only for horse racing and betting, but also for family recreation and amusement. Epiphaneia partnered with Christophe Soumillon exerted an explosive late charge in the last two furlongs for a four-length victory against a strong field that included 12 G1 horses to register her second G1 and fourth graded victory. Out of Cesario (JPN, by Special Week) who won the Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) and American Oaks in 2005, Epiphaneia was runner-up in the first two legs of the Triple Crown last year then captured the last leg Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger) in the fall. Third in his kick-off start this year in the Sankei Osaka Hai (G2, 2,000m), the colt was unable to demonstrate his best performance in his first overseas challenge, finishing fourth in Hong Kong's Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1, 2,000m), and was sixth in his comeback race, the Tenno Sho (Autumn) (G1, 2,000m)at the beginning of this month. Why Japan's Homeless are Different from North America's (Part 1)
One day while walking around Shinjuku, a major hub for government and business in Tokyo, Japan, I noticed a shelter built by a homeless man. It looked semi-permanent, but more importantly, had solar panels on it. I thought this was very different than the homeless I encountered in my former city of Vancouver, Canada, so I started to investigate homelessness in Japan.
I was lucky enough to interview Professor Tom Gill, who has researched homelessness and other societal issues in Japan for many years.

Kamo Kurabe Uma - Sacred Japanese Horse Racing at Kamigamo Shrine, Kyoto
May 5th at Kamigamo Shrine in Kyoto they hold a sacred horse racing ritual known as Kamo Kurabe Uma which started in 1093.
Two riders wear Bugaku costumes which are traditional court dance outfits from a time when they used to dance before the race. One team wears red and is known as the Left Team - Sakata. The other wears black which looks more green and is known as the Right Team - Ukata.
The purpose of the ritual is to bring peace and prosperity.

In May 2016 I went to the horse races in Japan for the first time! It was really enjoyable! I would recommend going to it.
The track is south west of Tokyo and can be accessed from Fuchu Keiba Seimon Mae Station on the Keio Line (京王線府中競馬正門前駅) or Inagi Naganuma Station on the JR Nanbu Line (JR東日本南武線稲城長沼駅).
