The Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani is the mausoleum of Mariam-uz-Zamani, the Hindu consort of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The tomb was built by Jahangir, in memory of his mother Mariam-uz-Zamani. The tomb is located in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra. Kohinoor diamond and vikramadhityans chair was taken away during this time
Heer Kunwari was born a Rajput princess and was also the eldest daughter of Raja Bharmal of Amer. She was married to Emperor Akbar in 1562 CE. She was honoured with the title Mariam-uz-Zamani (Mary of the Age) after she gave birth to Jahangir. She died in Agra in 1623 and her son Jahangir built a tomb for her in between 1623 and 1627 CE.The tomb is only a kilometer away from the Tomb of Akbar the Great, the only nearest of all the tombs of his other wives.
The structure was originally an open baradari (pleasure pavilion) under Sikander Lodi, who built it in 1495 AD. It was adopted by the Mughals in 1623 AD and was converted into a tomb by making a crypt below the central compartment and remodeling it substantially.
The mausoleum contains three tombstones: one in the underground mortuary chamber, which is the grave itself; the cenotaph above it; and another cenotaph on the terrace.
The ground floor consists of some forty chambers built by Sikander Lodi, which bears faint traces of paintings on plastered walls. The centre of the ground floor houses the cenotaph of Mariam.
This square tomb stands in the centre of the Mughal garden. It is built on a raised platform with stairs on its northern and southern sides. The two corridors running from east to west and from north to south divide the structure into nine sections that are further subdivided into smaller compartments. The largest one is at the centre, four smaller square ones at the corners and four oblong ones in their middle. Massive piers have been used to support the broad arches and vaulted ceilings. The tomb is built of brick and mortar, and finished with stucco.
The facades (exterior) of the building were reconstructed with red sandstone panels and a chhajja with the addition of duchhati (mezzanine floors) at the corners by the Mughals. On each facade there is a rectangular structure which projects forward and has a pointy arch in it. It is flanked on either sides by wings, which consists of three arches and a set of double arches, one over the other, thus accommodating a duchhatti at each corner of the building. The wings are protected by chhajjas. The duchhatti are accessible by stairways.
The tomb also contains the work of the Mughals, who remodelled them by adding chhatris and chhaparkhats. The tomb has four massive octagonal chhatris on its four corners, and four oblong chhaparkhats in the centre of the four sides. Each chhatri is made out of red sandstone with a white dome and stands on a square platform. The domes are crowned with an inverted lotus or 'padma kosha'. Brackets have been used to support the internal lintels and external chhajja, five on each pillar, making a total of 40 brackets in one chhatri. Each chhaparkhat is rectangular and has eight pillars with a similar cluster of brackets and a white roof. These chhatris and chhaparkhats are the most important ornament of the whole composition. The rectangular chhaparkhats with eight pillars and a cluster of brackets resemble the corner cupolas. The tomb doesn't have a dome. The mausoleum is of architectural importance in the category of Mughal tombs without a dome.
Another important aspect of the tomb is that it is identical both in the front and the rear. Unlike other Mughal era structures, the back entrance is not a dummy but an actual entrance.

The mysterious #tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani. Who was this Mariam-uz-Zamani? She was the mother of Mughal Emperor Jahangir (Salim) and wife of Emperor Akbar.
Daughter of Rajputs, Princess of Amer. She has been incorrectly called Jodha Bai thanks to bollywood movies like Mughale Azam & Jodha Akbar.
Yes that's the true. Wondering how is this possible?

Mariam-uz-Zamani's Tomb(Jodha Bai की कब्र) | Agra Heritage Tour | Ep-2 | मरियम उज़-ज़मानी का मक़बरा
Recently, I explored Mariam's Tomb (Mariam ka Maqbara) in Sikandra, Agra which is a Mughal Era Mausoleum. In the Video, I have told each and every important aspect about Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani in Hindi.
Shah Jahan made Taj Mahal for his beloved wife. So, Shah Jahan's father Jahangir(also known as Salim) made this tomb for his mother known as 'Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani'.
Heer Kunwari(Jodha Bai) was born as a Rajput princess. She was the eldest daughter of Amer's king Bharmal(Raja Bihari Mal). In 1562, Jodha Bai married mughal emperor Akbar. After Jahangir(also known as Salim) was born, she was given the title of 'Mariam-uz-Zamani'. Mariam died in 1623 in Agra and this mausoleum was built by her son Jahangir from 1623-1627. This tomb is located only 1 km away from Akbar's tomb.
This place was actually a Baradari when Lodi's ruled in Agra. Later, Mughals built this mausoleum over here. There are 3 graves inside this mausoleum. One is in the basement(Mariam's grave) and other two graves are on upper floors. The ground floor of this tomb consists of 40 chambers which were built by Sikander Lodi.
ARCHITECTURE : This square tomb is located exactly in the centre of the Mughal garden. It is built on a raised platform which has stairs on both northern as well as southern sides. You will also see two corridors from east to west and from north to south which actually divides this beautiful structure into 9 different sections which are further subdivided into other smaller compartments. The largest compartment is at the centre, 4 smaller square ones at the four corners and 4 oblong ones in their middle.
HOW TO REACH : If you are in Agra, Drive on Delhi-Agra National highway towards Sikandra(Akbar's Tomb). After crossing Sikandra, keep left and turn left after 700-800 m and you will reach the tomb.

Mariam's tomb | Mariam ka Maqbara | मरियम की कब्र का एक नज़ारा |
Mariam’s tomb is located in agra uttar Pradesh india.Mariam Jamiani was the daughter of Ajmer's King Bharmal Kachwaha. He was married to Mughal emperor Akbar. When he gave birth to Akbar's son Salim, Akbar gave him the title of Mariam Jamiani. Later it was known as Salim Jahangir. Mariam Jamiani died in 1623 in Agra and her son Jahangir constructed a tomb for them. It is located in Sikandra, near the tomb of his father Akbar. This tomb was completed in four years between 1623 and 1627. This square mausoleum is situated in a garden and there are two corridors in the middle. The roof of this tomb is vaulted and has been constructed on a large circle, which is hinged on a large pillar. It has been constructed with lime of brick and marble. Four large umbrellas present on four corners extend its beauty. This mausoleum made in Mughal architectural style is a fine example of 'without a domed tomb'.

‘Itmad-ud-Daulah's Tomb’ Agra | ऐतमाद उद दौला के मक़बरे का एक नज़ारा |
Friends In this video you have been told about the tomb of itimad ud daulah, the tomb of Mirza Gayas Beg and his wife Asmat Begum. In Iran's service and the service of Akbar. The world was the father of the famous Noorjahan and the grandfather of Mumtaz Mahal. Mirza Gayas Beg was made a Jathedar after his marriage to Nurjahan in 1699 AD. The tomb of itimad-ud-daulah is dedicated to Mirza Gias Beg, father of Noorjahan. Itimad-ud-daula was his title. This tomb was built on the banks of river Yamuna in 1625 AD. There are many things in this tomb famous by the name of Baby Taj. This mausoleum is the first tomb built in India, which was made entirely of white marble. On its walls the pictures of tree plants, animals and birds have been carved. Somewhere, pictures of men can be seen, which is a unique thing as Islam is forbidden to use humans as a thing of decoration. Due to its beauty this Tomb is known as Jewelery Box. Jehangir, son of Mughal emperor Akbar, gave the title of itimad ud Daulah to Mirza Gias Beg, father of his Begum Noorjahan. The tomb of itimad ud Daulah and his wife Asmat Jatra from 1622 to 1628 was built by his daughter Noorjahan. Looking at the magnificence and glory of this tomb, it seems that it is the predecessor or draft of the Taj Mahal. For this reason it is also called Baby Taj and Jewel Box. This mausoleum, built in 23 square meters, is located on the eastern bank of Yamuna River. It is just 2 km away from the Ram Bagh Circle on NH-2. This tomb has been built on the red stone column between the four Gardens, known as Parasian Garden. In this garden, several streams of shallow and flowing water flows, which not only divides the garden into four parts but also enhances its beauty.
