Warsaw's Changing of the Guard
Travelers see these Changing of the Guard ceremonies all over Europe. Many are so ornate, you lose the sense of the actual change. But here in Warsaw’s Pilsudski Square, it's crisp and clear.
This pageantry honors not a royal family, but the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier — a particularly powerful site in the country that suffered more deaths per capita than any other in World War II.
What’s your favorite Changing of the Guard ceremony, and why?

STORYLINE:
A Polish soldier was killed on Thursday and eight others were wounded when rebels set off a series of roadside bombs as they were on patrol in south-central Iraq, the Polish military in Iraq said.
A Polish major said in a telephone interview from Iraq that the patrol came under attack during a routine morning patrol on a road leading north from Hillah toward Baghdad.
According to the major, the bombs were detonated as the patrol of 18 soldiers in four Polish-built Honker jeeps drove by.
One man was killed and six others were wounded by shrapnel.
Two others reported difficulty hearing, the major said.
Investigators determined that 16 bombs were connected by a cable and detonated by someone nearby, and were searching for the attackers, the major said.
Four of those wounded by shrapnel were taken to a United States military hospital in Baghdad for treatment and two others were hospitalised in Karbala.
All were in stable condition.
One of the two whose hearing was damaged was being kept under observation in Karbala, while the other was returned to duty.
The death of Corporal Marcin Rutkowski, from the northern Polish town of Wegorzewo, raises the country's military death toll in Iraq to seven.
The 24-year old served in the artillery and is survived by a wife and a three-year-old son, the Polish news agency PAP reported.
Poland sent troops in support of the US-led invasion of Iraq and now commands some 6,200 multinational troops in south-central Iraq from 16 countries, including 2,400 of its own.

US Holocaust Museum opens new research centre
(24 Apr 2017) Holocaust survivors on Monday marked the annual memorial day for the 6 million Jews killed by Nazi Germany during World War II by attending the official opening of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum's new conservation and research center.
The David and Fela Shapell Family Collections, Conservation and Research Center is a state-of-the-art facility that has 103,000 square feet (9,570 sq. meters) for documents and artifacts, with room for expansion.
The museum's collection is expected to double in size over the next decade.
The center in the suburbs of the nation's capital is home to thousands of items in eight climate-controlled vaults in a building hardened for tornadoes and hurricanes.
The museum's collection has 20,168 objects.
Less than 1 percent of the museum's holdings are on exhibit in the Washington museum.
The collection includes everyday objects, from children's toys and clothes to sewing machines used in concentration camps.

Warsaw of the cemetery, the composition is not more than 150 years. Unlike the white chrysanthemum in harmony and we mainly use the Polish uses a variety of flowers, including roses and lilies. Names and numbers of the Dead cemetery standing at the cemetery entrance, thus assuming Chopin also buried in any cemetery in Paris heard this thought. Scary feeling, rather than having the word cemetery felt coming into the woods. Poland is not a cosmetic called Catholic countries. And most of the graves to make gajokmyo form. Not the makeup looked into several pipes in one cemetery. There are iron coffin lid made of sturdy rings. The family tomb is composed in 1887, as both buried 11 bodies until 2011. Ripe sculptures look around the cemetery in the snow stands out. The tomb of the famous Polish film director. Swik five of the world lost a genius director, and his genius was also the place in the memories of many people, like Chopin and premature death. Myoda Polish Unknown Soldier. They quickly spoke with their supervisor, and he asked me to tell my story in a timely fashion because they did not have a lot of time. It was a honor to speak to them. They were very nice and I have a few pictures with them.

He stood at the port of Gdansk again. To ride the ship to the sea. The ship leaves the harbor for a while. Following the breezy winds of the North Sea, we cross the old castle and meet the shipyard of Gdansk. Lech Walesa led the free trade union movement in the past and led the change in Poland. Finally the ship arrived at its destination. The place I went to was Vester Platte. It is where the Second World War began. On September 1, 1939, the German army bombarded the area and remains on the coast. And where the tragedy of war began, people built a new tower. It is a tower of peace origin that war is no longer possible. If this is where the first bombardment of the Second World War German Army began, you will think about the war. Most of all, I want to remember the victims and pray for peace.
