Things to do Tonami Tulip Fair 四季彩館 Japan 2017.
The Tonami Tulip Fair (となみチューリップフェア) is an annual flower festival held in Tonami City near Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture. Taking place in the Tonami Tulip Park, the fair lasts for two weeks in late April and early May and showcases some three million tulips of all colors and varieties.
Tonami is situated directly south of Takaoka and has a tulip history dating back to 1918 when cultivation of the flower first began in the area. Today, the city is Japan's leading producer of tulip bulbs, growing over 250 varieties of the flower. The annual tulip fair is held to celebrate Tonami's floral endeavors and as an homage to the tulip in general. The fair is comprised of various areas that include several large flowerbeds with a plethora of colorful tulips that can be viewed from various elevated platforms (including a tulip-shaped observation tower), a picturesque pond on which flowerbeds float, a corner that showcases the hundreds of different tulip varieties accompanied by explanations (in Japanese) and the Tulip Aroma Garden made up of particularly fragrant varieties.
The Tonami Tulip Gallery (Tulip Shikisaikan) is a large exhibition hall that is part of the tulip fair, but is also open outside of the fair, allowing visitors to view tulips indoors around the year. Besides displays of actual flowers, the gallery includes a museum explaining anything you ever want to know about tulips and tulip cultivation. Some explanations in English are provided.

There is a town in Japan where the Tulip flower has a special significance. Tonami, 300 kilometres northwest of Tokyo, is Tulip Town. With a meagre planting of ten bulbs, local farmer Bunzo Mizuno began the town's association with the flower in 1918. Other people have also been drawn by the its beauty and tulip farming in Tonami is now big business. The town is responsible for a tenth of Japan's tulip production. The tulip has been found to be not only pleasing to the eye -- but a pleasure for the stomach too. Tulip bulbs have become a local gourmet speciality. The precious flower is also used in the production of dyes and perfumes and its image also adorns boxes of confectionary. Bearing in mind the significance of the flower to the town, it comes as no surprize to discover that it has been adopted as the town's emblem.

Showa Kinen Park tachikawa flower festival 2019 is one of Must-Visit Flower Festivals around Tokyo in Spring.
Showa Memorial Park (Showa Kinen Koen, 昭和記念公園) is a national park located in Tachikawa City, the suburb of Tokyo.
Showa Memorial Park is Tokyo’s top spot for cherry blossoms and autumn leaves viewing. There are about 1,500 trees of 30 varieties of cherry blossoms at the park which can be enjoyed till mid April usually.
In autumn, the park attracts visitors by colourful autumn leaves including Ginkgo and Maple trees usually from mid November.
