Birding Utah's Washigton County: Zion National Park, Lytle Ranch
I recently took a trip down to Utah's Washington County to get a large variety of birds found nowhere else in the state. On the way down I saw Endangered Utah Prairie dogs at a truck stop. I first went to Zion Canyon, to try and see Spotted Owls and California Condors, but did see canyon wrens, dippers, and kinglets. I also filmed the zion snail with a macro lense, so you can actually see the tiny creature move. The next day I went to Lytle Ranch, and saw many southwest desert birds, like Phainopepla and cactus wrens. I then went to the Tonaquint Nature Center to see Mute Swans and Abert's Towhees. It was a fun birding trip and I saw a lot of species. Southern Utah: Gunlock Waterfalls & Veyo Pies!
Gunlock Water Falls & Famous Veyo Pies! Gunlock and Veyo are just a short, but incredibly scenic, 30 minute drive from our home. For the first time in years, Gunlock Res is filled to the brim and spilling over, so we had to go see the falls! We also may be physically incapable of going that far and not getting some bomb pie from #VeyoPies. The rope swing is just a mile or two past the reservoir, and if you keep going on that road, you'll run right into Veyo Pies. We love the pot pies, the danishes, and the Volcano pie! #GunlockStatePark #SouthernUtah #Waterfalls
