* 우리나라의 3대 사찰 중 하나, 통도사 *
한국 3대 사찰의 하나로, 부처의 진신사리(眞身舍利)가 있어 불보(佛寶)사찰이라고도 한다. 통도사는 삼국유사 등의 기록으로 미루어 볼 때 신라 선덕여왕 때 자장율사에 의해 창건된 것으로 여겨진다. 통도사의 이름은 절이 위치한 산의 모습이 부처가 설법하던 인도 영취산의 모습과 통하므로 통도사라 이름했고(此山之形通於印度靈鷲山形), 또 승려가 되고자 하는 사람은 모두 이 계단(戒壇)을 통과해야 한다는 의미에서 통도라 했으며(爲僧者通而度之), 모든 진리를 회통(會通)하여 일체중생을 제도(濟道)한다는 의미에서 통도라 이름지었다고 한다.
경내의 건물들은 대웅전과 고려 말 건물인 대광명전(大光明殿)을 비롯하여 영산전(靈山殿)·극락보전(極樂寶殿) 외에 12개의 법당과 보광전(普光殿)·감로당(甘露堂) 외에 6방(房), 그리고 비각(碑閣)·천왕문(天王門)·불이문(不二門)·일주문(一柱門)·범종각(梵鐘閣) 등 65동 580여 칸에 달하는 대규모이다. 이 건물들은 임진왜란 때 소실된 것을 1601년(선조 34)과 41년(인조 19) 두 차례에 걸쳐 중수하였는데 대광명전을 제외하고는 모두 근세의 건물들이다.
* 통도사의 볼거리, 부처님 사리 *
통도사에는 자장율사가 당나라로부터 모셔온 부처님의 전골진신사리와 치아사리와 부처님께서 친착하셨던 가사와 창건주이신 자장율사 스님의 가사가 보관되어 있어 유명하다. 부처님의 진신사리가 금강계단에 봉안되어 이의 정면에 자리잡고 있는 대웅전에는 불상이 봉안되지 않았다.
통도사는 문화제를 살펴보면 대웅전이 국보 제290호로 지정되어 있다. 이 밖에 보물 제334호인 은입사동제향로(銀入絲銅製香爐), 보물 제471호인 봉발탑(奉鉢塔)이 있고, 보물전시관에는 병풍·경책(經冊)·불구(佛具) 및 고려대장경(해인사 영인본) 등의 사보(寺寶)가 소장되어 있다.

Ancient and Massive Tongdosa Buddhist Temple Busan, South Korea
Tongdosa Temple in the southern part of Mt. Chiseosan, is famous because Buddha's relics are enshrined here. In place of a Buddha statue, the relics are preserved behind the main building. The ancient temple is beautifully situated and filled with the devout.

It took two hours to reach this temple, which is the biggest temple in Korea, and one of the most important as it contains relics of the Buddha, rather than statues representing him.

Chùa Tongdo, một trong ba ngôi chùa cổ và quý giá nhất của Đại Hàn, được Hoàng Hậu Sun-Deok xây dựng vào năm 646 ở phía nam rặng núi Chiseosan, gần thành phố Yansan.
Chùa được dựng lên để thờ Xá Lợi Phật do nhà sư Ja-Jang sau khi hoàn tất mười năm tu học tại Trung Hoa đã thỉnh được và đem về nước, đánh dấu giai đoạn đầu tiên Phật Giáo du nhập vào Đại Hàn.
Chùa gồm 35 kiến trúc trung tâm, 14 đền đài rải rác chung quanh và đặc biệt là không có tượng Phật nào ngoài trời. Dù đã trải qua trên 1300 năm, nhiều lần bị hủy hoại bởi thời gian, thiên tai, chiến tranh... nhưng chùa đã được trùng tu, bảo tồn y như những kiến trúc nguyên thủy (Ngay cả nhà vệ sinh mới được xây sau này cũng có hình dáng cổ kính, hài hòa với những kiến trúc của khu di tích lịch sử này, thật đáng khâm phục!)

Visit of Tongdosa temples and Busan
Tongdosa is one of the Three Jewel Temples of Korea. It represents the Buddha, and is located on Yeonchuk-san in Yangsan City, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea. The main hall in Tongdosa opens out onto a stupa which the faithful claim contains relics of the Buddha. It was founded in 646 by the monk Jajang, during the reign of Queen Seondeok of Silla. It thrived throughout the Unified Silla and Goryeo periods, when Buddhism was the state religion, and remained strong even in the Joseon Dynasty. Only one building, the daeungjeon hall, survived the Seven Year War in the late 16th century; the other buildings were rebuilt after that time.
Busan Metropolitan City, also known as Pusan, is the largest harbor city in South Korea. With a population of about 3.65 million, Busan is also South Korea's second largest metropolis, after Seoul. The densely populated city is situated in the narrow Nakdong River valley, with mountains separating some of the various districts. It is located at 35°6'10 North, 129°2'25 East (35.102778, 129.040278 (wikipedia)
