Korean language classes at Kim Hyong Jik University of Education in Pyongyang, DPRK (North Korea), organised by Tongil Tours, specialists in educational North Korea tours. Tongil Tours is one of the very first to arrange such a Korean language study program in North Korea in a North Korean university, and by now the most experienced. This is a very special opportunity to study in North Korea. Course offerings at Kim Il Sung University will also likely be on offer from 2018.
This video shows our third North Korean language study program during Summer 2017. The standard Korean Language Program in Pyongyang, DPRK (North Korea), lasts for three weeks, and included 2.5 hours of formal Korean language training per day, but future programs will have 3.5 hours a day. Korean language teachers are all North Korean nationals with Ph.Ds. in Korean language education and teachers at North Korean university. They specialise in teaching all levels from beginners to advanced using only Korean language during the class. Students take a placement test on the first day, after which they are split into beginner, intermediate and advanced classes. After lunch and homework, we visit new sights and museums in Pyongyang and its vicinity every day, where the participants can learn more about Korea while also getting further used to the Korean language by reading and listening to the explanations in both Korean and English. During the weekends, we go on longer excursions to places such as Kaesong, DMZ, Wonsan, Hamhung, Kumgangsan etc. Being able to study in North Korea, in a North Korean university is a very unique experience, and allows for easier interaction with Koreans in various places. Tongil Tours also arranges private North Korean language programs for individuals and groups.

Yuka and Alek's Pyongyang Wedding 2018
Tongil Tours founder Alek Sigley and his wife Yuka held their wedding ceremony in Pyongyang on the 4th of May 2018.
As a North Korean-style wedding held in Pyongyang between a Japanese woman and an Australian man, and attended by guests from all corners of the globe, it was perhaps one of the more unique weddings held in human history.
But above all it symbolised the desire of bride, groom and all else present for peace and understanding between the peoples of Korea, Japan, Australia, and the rest of the world. We hope you enjoy viewing it!
This video was produced by Pyongyang Video, a North Korean company that was hired for the job. Pyongyang Video provided a cameraman and did the editing.
The wedding was organised through Tongil Tours. If you would like to organise a wedding in North Korea, contact Tongil Tours at info@tongiltours.com.
Comrade Kang Rolls a Cigarette Pyongyang Style
Comrade Kang , a North Korean tour guide, shows us how he rolls his cigarettes. He uses a unique technique where the rolling paper is positioned diagonally and the lick-it line is not used. With a flared end, the final product comes out looking a little different to cigarettes rolled with the paper edges positioned parallel. Tongil Tours does not endorse smoking, and before anybody asks, IT'S TOBACCO!
