Its the beginning of November and the weather is beautiful, sunny and equivalent to a hot Summer's day in England. So, a few friends and I decide to head out to the edge of Shanghai and visit this beautiful, ancient, water town. It was a beautiful, cultural and inspiring day!
Day trip from Shanghai
A visit to the quaint villages of Tongli and Suzhou China. They are both an ancient fishing village. We walked the streets, met some of the locals and took a cruise down the river through town. A great contrast to China's big cities.
Suzhou Tiger Hill Pagoda - Trip to China part 35 - Full HD Travel Video
Tiger Hill is a hill in Suzhou, in China. It is a popular tourist destination and is known for its natural beauty as well as historical sites. The hill is so named because it is said to look like a crouching tiger. Another legend states that a white tiger appeared on the hill to guard it following the burial of King Helü. The hill is sometimes referred to in parallel with Lion Mountain, another hill near Suzhou which clearly resembles a sitting lion.

Zhujiajiao is the best-preserved ancient water town among the four ancient towns in Shanghai with a history of 1700 years. In the period of the Three Kingdoms there were already country fairs in Zhujiajiao and the business prospered in the Ming Dynasty. Now Zhujiajiao is a graceful and quiet town. walking on the zigzag stone pathway and the winding long lanes, you would feel like walking in an elegant and fresh painting.
Shanghai Vlog: ZhuJiaJiao Water Town

May 3, 2014
For a change of scenery, we took the HuZhu Express bus from downtown Shanghai to ZhuJiaJiao, an ancient water town about one hour from the city center. We spent half a day meandering through the town's narrow shop-lined alleyways and crossing romantic stone bridges over canals filled with wooden manually operated boats. The comfortable bus ride was only 12 RMB (USD $2) per person, leaving about every 10 minutes from the Pu'an Road bus station near Middle JinLing Road and closest to the DaShiJie metro station on Line 8.
We advise getting as early a start as possible because ZhuJiaJiao is packed with tourists by 11:00 AM on weekends. It's an even more enjoyable place when you have it pretty much to yourself in the mornings and/or evenings.
Happy travels!
Hangzhou Six Harmonies Pagoda - Trip to China part 41 - Full HD travel video
The Six Harmonies Pagoda, situated by the Qiantang River, has been praised and eulogised for hundreds of years by poets and scribes.
According to historical documents, the Six Harmonies Pagoda was originally built in 970 during the Northern Song Dynasty by Qianhongchu, King of Wuyue. Legend has it that the pagoda was built primary as a flood defence. The pagoda is symbolic of the harmony in balanced polar opposites, such as heaven, earth, east, west, south and north. With nine storeys and standing 150 meters high, the pagoda has also served as a beacon, with a light shining from the top lighting up the night in order to guide the many vessels traversing the Qiantang River.

It was an amazing town with so many beautiful scenes that I have not seen anywhere else in the world. It is a beautiful piece that is modern enough to be comfortable but old enough not to be ruined by modern Chinese extortion.
