► This is another of Tokyo's secret paradise gardens. And although it has its fair share of mosquitos and venomous spiders, it also offers some amazing views, some imaginative walkingtrails that leads you through this wonderful landscape garden.
I don't hesitate labeling this a secret garden, as I've never
seen it in any western guidebooks. This was my first visit there,
and it instantly became a new favorite place of mine, so don't be surprised if I upload a snow-covered winter-version of it in 4-5 months time.
Tonogayato-Teien Garden is located in Kokubunji near
Tachikawa. Easy access, 45 minutes from Tokyo station by JR Chuo Line. - Enjoy!

Tonogayato Garden is one of Tokyo's finest gardens, yet one of the least known. Come and see what so many people miss out on.
Tonogayato Garden (or Tonogayato Teien, 殿ケ谷戸庭園) is in Kokubunji City, Tokyo-to. Tonogayato Garden covers 5.2 acres or 21,124 sq. meters. The original garden layout was created in 1913-15, but completed in 1929 when the founder of Mitsubishi purchased it.
For anyone going to the Ghibli Museum, it is 4 stations beyond, and makes an excellent place to see as well.
From the JR Chuo Line Kokubunji Station, Tonogayato Teien is about 2 minutes on foot.
Open 9-5 daily (last entry 4:30 PM). Closed Dec 29-Jan 1

Tonogayato Garden is designated a place of scenic beauty by the Japanese Government. Located in Kokubunji region of Tokyo, this Musashino style garden is an oasis worth adding to your list of destinations.
The garden is centered on a pond and uses the natural terrain of the Musashino Plateau for various types of landscape : a scenic spacious lawn on the top, steep slopes, ponds and waterfalls and bamboo forest at the bottom, a very artistic arrangement.

Hello welcome back to my japan travel vlog and here is another viideo on exploring japan series when we walking in Tonogayato Garden in Kokubunji, Tokyo.
It is almost fall in Tokyo when Lia, Lina and I happen to visit a beautifull scenic old japanese style garden in Kokubunji Tokyo. Tonogayato garden is a traditional circular japanese garden wiith a tea house on its highest point. The garden is centered on a beautiful fish pond which surrounded by natural terrain of the Mushashino plateau by incorporating the valleys found in the terrace cliffs into its design. We found various rare flora and fauna there, where walking through bamboo forest, spacious lawn and gorgeous waterfall. What a day. If you are looking for a nature walk in Tokyo, this interesting place is really worth your time, a japan must visit place for sure.

Here is Tonogaya garden.
Located in the city of Kokubunji, Tokyo.
It is the garden of the mansion original. (Admission fee)
It is a very nice atmosphere. And beautiful.
There is a small waterfall and threatened lion (shishiodoshi) in the garden.
In particular, shishiodoshi is rare.

It's part of a complex that features several wedding banquet halls, restaurants and a cafe. But admission to the garden is free, and its open to the public all year round.
It's a lovely little green spot in the middle of busy Tokyo, well worth a visit, if you happen to be nearby. - Enjoy!
