Siglufjordur Skiing
A trip to the North, far North in Siglufjordur - one of the prettiest towns I've been to. A little village 'bar crawl', learning to ski, climbing the mountain Illviðrishnjúkur to see sun, some of the most stunning views ever, slacklining, warmer than expected camping in the Northern-most forest of Iceland and wandering in Akureyri.

Akureyri, Iceland POV
Full-pull down the main riding area in Akureyri (Northern Iceland) - From June 2019. The highest trails generally are running good by mid-July. Here's the route which is all on Trailforks - Hlidarfjall, Canyon Drop, Canyon Climb, Gamli Trail, Hvammskogur, to Kjarnaskogur. From the top of the mountain, it's about 18km or 11 miles down. There are 400 meters (1300 feet) of vertical climbing to do on your way down and some of it is a hike. If you park at the upper parking lot near the lifts, there is a short but steep 20-30 minute climb up to where the trail starts.

Iceland Alpine Ski Touring: Mountains and Fjords of the North
6 day alpine ski touring in the northern mountains of Iceland - a popular winter activity!
Dettifoss, Goðafoss, Hvitserkur and Húsavík North Iceland
Scenery: ★★★★★
Difficulty: ★
This is the last video of my 2018 Iceland trip with my family. I listened to Icelandic music a lot while driving in Iceland. The music in this video was one of my favorite Icelandic songs.
00:00 Dettifoss - The most powerful waterfall in Europe.
00:32 Eyjafjörður - The longest fjord in Iceland seen from Dalvik. One of the snow capped mountains is Kaldbakur which I climbed the day before.
00:44 On my way to Kaldbakur. It was 4am in the morning while my family was sleeping.
00:47 Climbing Kaldbakur. Although I couldn't film much due to the bad weather, the view of fjord under the frightening clouds was unforgettable.
00:50 Kaldbakur summit. I found this place in a local website. The view would have been awesome if the weather were good because of the unique location of this mountain overlooking the fjord.
Whenever I climbed higher than 500 meter or 1500 feet above the sea level in Iceland, the weather was bad enough that I couldn't see anything but white. But I kept on climbing. :) I have especially sad memory here as the weather was fantastic the next day.
00:57 Goðafoss waterfall. It was funny standing on the edge of the raining area.
01:15 A fish and chips restaurant in Húsavík. It was one of the best fish I've ever tasted, very fresh, crispy outside, tender inside.
01:19 Takeout another fish and chips and enjoyed in a local park in Siglufjörður. Yeah, I loved fish and chips in Iceland. There are lovely small towns every 20-30 minutes while driving highway 1. Every town seems to have fish and chips restaurants.
01:29 No name waterfall on the road. There were so many no name waterfalls along the road. There are 10,000 waterfalls in Iceland. I just film one of them to remind me that there were so many cool places I wanted to stop and see in detail.
01:48 Whale Museum in Húsavík. The whale bone exhibition was pretty impressive.
02:00 Icelandic horse. They were everywhere throughout Iceland and thousands times cutter than the horses in other places.
02:06 Hvitserkur. An impressive 15 m high basalt stack along the eastern shore.

The Last Turf Church Ever Built In Iceland
Hofskirkja was the last Iceland turf church built in the old architectural style. Its walls are thick and assembled of rocks to give stability as well as insulation, an important element to consider in the Icelandic climate. The roof is made of stone slabs and covered in turf. It is one of six churches in Iceland still standing, which are preserved as historical monuments. Records say that the church was built by the carpenter Páll Pálsson, while the lock and hinges of the church door were made by Þorsteinn Gissurarson, who was a well-known blacksmith from Hof.

Top 13 Attractions in Iceland according to Lonely Planet
Top 13 Attractions in Iceland according to Lonely Planet
13. Kerlingarfjöll
Kerlingarfjöll is a mountain range in Iceland situated in the Highlands of Iceland near the Kjölur highland road. The volcanic origin of these mountains is evidenced by the numerous hot springs and rivulets in the area. And indeed, they are part of a large volcano system of 100 km2. The volcanoes of the range are tuyas.
12. Heimaey & Vestmannaeyjar
Vestmannaeyjar is a town on the island Heimaey. Heimaey is the largest of 15-18 islands in the Westman Islands archipelago, located just off the south-west coast of Iceland's mainland. The Westman Islands were formed by submarine volcanic eruptions along a 30 km long fissure lying south-west to north-east. Most of the islands have steep sea cliffs, and are well vegetated.
11. Snæfellsnes Peninsula
The Snæfellsnes is a peninsula situated to the west of Borgarfjörður, in western Iceland. It has been named Iceland in Miniature, because many national sights can be found in the area, including the Snæfellsjökull volcano, regarded as one of the symbols of Iceland.
10. Reykjavík's Cafe Culture & Beer Bars
Iceland's capital is rather wee by international standards, but the city's ratio of coffee houses to citizens is nothing short of staggering. In fact, the local social culture is built around these low-key hang-outs that crank up the intensity after hours, when tea is swapped for tipples and dance moves break out on the sticky floors.
9. Tröllaskagi Peninsula
Tröllaskagi is a peninsula in northern Iceland between the fjords of Eyjafjörður and Skagafjörður. The peninsula is mountainous with several peaks reaching over 1000 meters above sea level, the tallest is Kerling (1538 m). It is the part of Iceland with the highest elevation outside the central highlands.
8. Fimmvörðuháls
Fimmvörðuháls is the area between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull in southern Iceland. The route between Skógar and Thórsmörk goes through this pass and is one of the most popular walking routes in Iceland, despite being 22 km long and involving 1,000 m of climbing.
7. Borgarfjörður Eystri & Seyðisfjörður
Borgarfjörður Eystri is a fjord in east Iceland. The town derives its name from the Álfaborg (Elf Rock). Some of the locals believe that the queen of the elves lives in the Álfaborg. The main attraction for visitors is hiking. Borgarfjörður Eystri is also home to a large puffin colony.
6. Vatnajökull National Park
Vatnajökull National Park is one of three national parks in Iceland. It encompasses all of Vatnajökull glacier and extensive surrounding areas. These include the national parks previously existing at Skaftafell in the southwest and Jökulsárgljúfur in the north.
5. Driving the Ring Road
There's no better way to explore Iceland than to hire your own set of wheels and loop around Rte 1 -- affectionately known as the Ring Road. The ovular strip of cement loops around the island in a clock-like fashion, passing through verdant dales decked with tumbling chutes, haunting glacial lagoons with popcorn-like icebergs, desolate strands of sea coast and arid plains of parched lava fields.
4. Northern Lights
The Northern Lights or aurora borealis are a natural phenomenon that can paint the night sky with unearthly, surreal color. The Aurorae are caused by charged particles ejected from the sun. When these particles reach the earth, they collide with gas atoms and molecules in the earth's upper atmosphere, energising them and creating a spectacular multi-coloured light show.
3. Jökulsárlón
Jökulsárlón is a large glacial lake in southeast Iceland, on the edge of Vatnajökull National Park. Situated at the head of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, it developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
2. Westfjords
The Westfjords are very mountainous; the coastline is heavily indented by dozens of fjords surrounded by steep hills. These indentations make roads very circuitous and communications by land difficult. The cliffs at Látrabjarg comprise the longest bird cliff in the northern Atlantic Ocean and are at the westernmost point in Iceland.
1. Getting into Hot Water
Iceland's unofficial pastime is splashing around its surplus of geothermal water. There are 'hot-pots' everywhere -- from downtown Reykjavík to the isolated peninsular tips of the Westfjords -- and not only are they incredibly relaxing, they're a great way to meet the locals.

Iceland Vacation 2017 GoPro Hero 5 + Karma (HD)
My wife and I travelled around Iceland for 10 days in a Camper Van. We drove the whole Ring Road and the Golden Circle. We went scuba diving between the tectonic plates, took a whale watching tour, took a puffin watching tour, went mountain biking, hiked a lot, and snowmobiled on a glacier. We stayed in the night in campsites in Vik, Skaftafell, Hofn, Seydisfjordur, Asbyrgi, Siglufjordur, Hellissandur, Laugarvatn, Geysir, and Grindavik.
