French Polynesia, October 2019 - Moorea and Tahiti

We spent 12 days on the water, searching for whales, dolphins, sharks and whatever we could find. We were quite successful and we had the opportunity to dive and snorkel with all types of fantastic creatures, both large and small. Special thanks to our friends, Gerry and Nancy, our trusted travel buddies, who made this trip even more incredible.

Swimming with Humpbacks in Moorea

Best. Family. Trip. Ever! The Chu family (Bryan, Lisa, Jenny, Alex, Mary and Derek) booked a full boat with Bluewater Dive Travel for one week of snorkeling with humpbacks, and it was insanely good. Four out of five days on the water we were in the water multiple times, with phenomenal encounters with a curious juvenile, friendly babies, tranquil moms, and groups of adults. We even got to see a baby nursing, as well as pilot whales, rough-toothed dolphins, and oceanic white-tip sharks. It was truly the trip of a lifetime. We will never forget this, and already are starting to think about going back!

Diving in Moorea, French Polynesia at the Canyon - October 21, 2019.
The Opunohu Canyons about 15 minutes away from TopDive's dock. The Opunohu canyons were also known to be called Lemon shark valley or Shark’s dining room. This was supposedly THE place to see sharks. Located between both bays, outside of the lagoon, we would descend to a depth of about 75 feet to an expanse rippled with canyons, coral formations between the reef and the open sea. This site is a superb underwater scenery made by canyons as far as we can see. Upon immersion, the black tip sharks arrive, curious. Awesome undersea topography, Abundant marine fauna, black tip sharks and huge lemon sharks.
