Making A Torii Gate | Photo Backdrop For Cosplay | Cherry Blossom Scene Backdrop Area (Pt.1)
We make a japanese garden torii gate which will be set up at the anime expo as a themed backdrop photo booth for Cosplayers. This video is part 1 of the inside look at our Japanese Torii Gate Construction. Join us in these videos as we design and fabricate a couple of decorative prop Torii's for some scenes for cosplay. In this video we start the framing of the top beams. These traditional Japanese gates most commonly found at the entrances of or within sacred Shinto shrines will serve to be a stopping point or photo Op at the Los Angeles Anime Expo. Cosplayers from all around will have the chance to pose in front of these scaled down versions. We designed these Torii's to be made from mostly wood and some metal. They will be free standing and be at one of the entrances of the convention and be surrounded by cherry blossom trees. We hope the project may help those of you interested in make a Torii for either your home backyard or garden or any other themed environment. Hopefully anyone working on another project like Halloween props may find some kind of inspiration or idea from watching. When creating our version of the Torii we were inspired by the Hachiman Torii which is much like the Kasuga Torii, but the two lintels have a downwards slant.

Exploring ARASHIYAMA: is the BAMBOO FOREST over-hyped? | Japan | Vlog 089
We head to the Arashiyama district on the western side of the city to explore the famous Bamboo Forest (Grove). The area is rich with temples, shrines, parks and is packed to the brim with touristy souvenir shops and restaurants.
Later on that evening and after a failed attempt at finding dinner in Ponto-chō Alley we head to Chao Chao Gyoza for gyozas and highballs.

Yamaguchi Kintai Bridge - 錦帯橋 - 4K Ultra HD
Yamaguchi Kintai Bridge - 錦帯橋 - 4K Ultra HD : The Kintai-kyo Bridge has been Iwakuni's most distinctive landmark since its construction in 1673. Entirely made of wood, and this without the use of any nails, the Kintai bridge is composed of five arches sitting on top of massive stones pillars crossing over the Nishiki river and located on the foot of Mt. Yokoyama where Iwakuni castle is situated.
In fact it was only after the construction of the Iwakuni Castle, completed in 1608, that the first lord of Iwakuni domain, Kikkawa Hiroie, started the construction of a series of wooden bridges. Unsuccessful until 1673, with most of the bridges were destroyed by floods, it was under the order of the third lord of the Iwakuni domain, Kikkawa Hiroyoshi, that the actual Kintai bridge was built. This time it involved a revolutionary new design where stone piers would replace wooden ones alongside a greater series of wooden arches.

Miyajima Great Torii - 宮島大鳥居 - 4K Ultra HD
Miyajima Great Torii - 宮島大鳥居 - 4K Ultra HD : Constructed in 1168, the first Torii of Itsukushima Shrine is maybe one of Japan’s most famous Torii and actually represents the boundary between the spirit and the human world.
While many of you may have had the chance to see the Great Torii in person, we bet that not many of you knew that the Great Torii is not buried deep into Miyajima’s beach, but instead stands with its own weight! And its vermilion color is considered ideal for keeping evil spirits away!

Japan - kyoto - 1000 Torii
My wife and I are visiting the 1000 torii attraction of kyoto. Join us on our trip!
熟練石工が支えた院内町の石橋 A stone bridge in the Innai , was supported by a skilled mason
Oita prefecture is known for having the largest number of stone bridges in Japan, and in Innai Town, Usa City, there are 75 stone bridges preserved. 64 of these bridges are arch (spectacle) bridges, the largest number found in any one town in the whole of Japan.
大分県は全国で最も石橋が多い地域であるが、中でもこの宇佐市院内町には75基もの石橋が残されており、アーチ橋(めがね橋)は64基と日本一を誇っている。
There are many reasons why there are so many stone bridges in this area. One reason is that the topography of the region is characterized by a deep ravine with such swift rapids that the local people needed to build robust bridges which wouldn’t wash away.
A second reason was that there was an abundance of the stones necessary for the construction of the bridges in quarries in the area. Finally, there were also many skilled stonemasons who were experienced in building stonewalls and walls around the vital rice fields. One of the most famous of these stonemasons was Shinnosuke Matsuda, known as “the king of stone bridges”, who learnt the art of designing arch bridges in Kansai. He returned to the area in 1897 and built 14 stone bridges, 11 of which are still standing, including the famous Torii-bashi bridge. There are also several of his bridges remaining in neighboring Ajimu and Honyabakei Towns.
(Torii-Bashi Bridge) (Illuminated at night)
(Designated a Prefectural Tangible Cultural Asset)
Torii-Bashi, a 5 span arch bridge, is one of the most famous of the 75 stone bridges in Innai Town. The small villages dotted deep in the valley are connected by this 5 arched bridge. The bridge is also known as “Ishibashi bashi no Kifujin” or “The bridge of ladies” due to the graceful image of an elegant pontoon bridge stretching up to heaven.Constructed by the famous stonemason Shinnosuke Matsuda, the bridge was completed in July 1916. The fact that it has withstood many heavy floods is a credit to the detailed design and engineering skills with which it was built.
The bridge is lit up until 10 o’clock each night, and you can see a mysterious side to the bridge that differs from the daytime.
②御沓橋(Mikutsu-bashi bridge) (Illuminated at night)
(Designated a Prefectural Tangible Cultural Asset)
With a length of 59m, this triple arched stone bridge is the longest in the town. Completed in 1925, the sight of the bridge standing firmly in the furious, erosive rapids of the south to north flowing Era River gives a sense of strength and shows the modern taste and elegance of the time. Its reflection in the river surface is also a magical sight.
③荒瀬橋(Arase-bashi bridge) (Illuminated at night)
(Designated a Municipal Tangible Cultural Asset)
The highest and most beautiful of all the double-arched “spectacle” bridges in the town. Looking up at the bridge from the park at its base you can see the gentle mountains in the background through the arches.
④富士見橋(Fujimi-bashi bridge)
(Designated a Municipal Tangible Cultural Asset)
The name given to this bridge came about because Mt. Yufu, a Mt. Fuji lookalike, can be seen when standing on top of the bridge. The bridge collapsed half way through construction. However, the conviction and willpower of master craftsman Shinnosuke Matsuda led to a second attempt at construction, and it is said that using his own private funds the bridge was successfully completed the following year.
⑤分寺橋(Buji-bashi bridge) (Illuminated at night)
(夜間ライトアップ有)
(Designated a Municipal Tangible Cultural Asset)
Comparatively new within the town, this triple-arched bridge was completed in 1945. Despite being constructed in the midst of the war, the symmetrically engraved stones are neatly stacked.

Miyajima Re-Upload | Itsukushima torii Renovation Update.
*UPDATE/Re-upload
We decided to re-upload the Miyajima video with a few edits and an update regarding the Torii gate at Itsukushima. If you've watched the previous upload, no need to rewatch as I've added info on the update below. Also sorry if you notice the weird music edit/cut towards the end of the video. We made an adjustment in youtube's editing settings so we don't lose all our views and comments by fully re-uploading AGAIN because we've had a fraudulent scam third party try make a false claim on our video. Be careful guys, these sort of claim scams seem to be doing the rounds and there's not much you can do about it because the dispute goes to the person making the claim and Youtube take no part in the process making it nearly impossible to report these people trying to sponge off of genuine creators hard work. So we apologise if the edit seems odd as we work so hard and take pride in how much effort we put into editing these videos.

Hello again express pass community.
We are travelling to Miyajima and as always bringing you guys along for the adventure.
From the cheeky wandering deer, the abundance of food, friendly locals, Itsukushima Shrine, the big red torii gate and other breathtaking scenery there is certainly plenty to see and do on Miyajima. Just a short 10 minute journey by ferry it is a stop not to be missed when visiting Hiroshima.
We definitely recommend allowing a full day to explore all that this beautiful island has to offer.
Come with us as we go on an adventure to Miyajima.
Hopefully it will inspire you to make your own journey there.
Let us know in the comments if you do.
***For those of you visiting Miyajima in 2019 keep in mind there will be renovations taking place on the tori gate. These works are scheduled from June 2019 and predicted to take up to or possibly beyond a year to complete. There will be scaffolding covering up the gate so if you are visiting with the purpose of seeing the gate you will be unable to. Rest assured there is still plenty to see and do on Miyajima and we would still recommend visiting.

TheBitzr Travels ~ Japan!!!
Japan Montage starts at 4:05:10
The montage song is Little Apple by The Chopstick Brothers, which is a very, very, Chinese song. It is so catchy! You should check out the dance for it! While we were in Japan, we had this song stuck in our heads even though it is decidedly not Japanese. LOL!!!
STORY TIME!
After four days of travel filled with a few long drives, multiple flights over the Pacific Ocean, a 17 hour layover in Shanghai, and putting our Japanese language skills to the test to navigate an unfamiliar city in the pouring rain, we have finally arrived in our cute Airbnb in Fukuoka City.
Exploring Fukuoka City the next 3days we came across Canal City Mall amongst various landmarks such as Torii gates, shrines, ruined castle walkways, and we even got to see the beginnings of Cherry Blossom season! An 18 mile walk throughout the city filled with parks, bridges, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, ridiculous bubble waffle delectables, a quest for a kimono ending with a funny story, and nighttime food stands brought us fond memories and bad blisters that would last the rest of the trip... LOL on day 3 we went and got our souvenirs from Fukuoka! It has taken a journey of over 8,000 miles to find a brand of coffee that my husband and I dislike so little, that one could argue that we almost tolerate it... So naturally, we bought some to help with the jet lag when we got home, and help it did!
Taking the bullet train to Okayama on my B-day to see a lovely park and some remarkably un-ruined castles, its respective gardens with elegant shrines. I got my few pieces of B-day cake at a cute little bakery named Motzart there in Okayama aswell! But there was no place to sit so we ate them at Starbucks. Finally, once more onto the shinkansen towards Kyoto where we finished off the night cooking our own succulent cuts of Japanese beef.
In Kyoto we Ate a treasure trove of Japanese bakery goods, rode bikes around Kyoto, found a secluded temple on the mountainside, and met the sweetest older Japanese woman who owned a humble, nondescript second-hand Kimono shop. She didn't speak any English, but still somehow managed to teach us all about traditional garb: kimono, yukata, obi, haori, and such.
The 2nd day In Kyoto we Hiked to the top of Mt. Arashiyama to an ancient Buddhist temple, saw the bamboo forest, then dressed up into our traditional garb and took part in the annual Higashiyama Hanatouro, in which hundreds of lanterns illuminate the shrines at night and ate a rather odd tasting meal in the Geisha District.
One of the highlights of our trip as a whole happed the last night we stayed in Kyoto. We finally got to go on a date with our language exchange partner, the digital friend we had never met, and Nihonjin no Kareshi (Japanese Boyfriend), Ryutaro! He took us on a yummy ramen date!!!
When we finally made it to Tokyo we reunited with my cousin, Jordan. He Lives in Japan at the moment! We then proceeded to have a bit of an adventure enroute to our apartment in which we braved the jam-packed subways, where I fainted and lost my famed Hippo Hat... Tokyo stole my Kaba-Sama!!!
The next day we hit up Harajuku and Shibuya for some shopping and general craziness. We Spent our last day in Japan finally visiting the Anime District of Akihabara, which also just so happens to have a store called Super Potato that carries perfectly functioning old gaming systems!
Finishing up a dream trip to a place you've always wanted to go is a bit of a surreal experience. ....But, I am already looking forward to when we will get to go back!

The shrine is just outside the Inari Station on the Nara Line of the West Japan Railway Company known as the “JR line” We took the train from Kyoto station and made our way to Fushimi Inari Taisha, it’s also known as Japan’s Fox Shrine. It’s a 2-3 hour hike to the summit and depending on the time you choose to go, first thing in the morning or the afternoon it may be dead quiet or extremely busy.
The Fushimi Inari shrine is famous for it’s orange tore gates that span the entire hike, from the bottom to the top of the mountain. The shrine began construction in the year 711, in Inariyama hill in southwestern Kyoto, it was later relocated and the main shrine started construction 700 years later.
The Fushimi Inari Taisha temple is the head shrine of Kame Inari and is located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto. The temples is about 200 meters above sea level and span approximately 4KM through the mountains. This shrine has over 32,000 sub shrines, all of the tori ( japanese gates) are donated by local business's.
During Japanese new year, the shrine get's almost 1 million visitors per day during this time. This is significantly more than any other time of the year, you may want to avoid visiting at this time.
The hike was beautiful, it was a great opportunity to experience Japan’s forests and orange tori gates and views of Taisha station and the surrounding city.
After a 4 hour hike, we had some lunch in town before taking the JR line back to our Japanese guest house in Kyoto, Japan.

Originally from Vancouver, Canada we started an activewear business with nothing but a $5,000 credit card. Over 5 years we grew to over a million dollars in sales, and had our products sold in hundreds of stores, we were featured on Dragons Den, Bloomberg and much more! As the business grew it was becoming more stressful, and more expensive to keep up with the growth. In April 2019 we decided that we had enough and decided to sell everything and travel the world in search of adventure, happiness and new experiences. We started this YouTube channel to share our memories with family and friends, and even more so as a way to document our memories for ourselves! We are travelling FULL TIME as of June 2019, and we hope you will follow along our journey!

☆Bits of knowledge〜Otomeinari〜
OtomeInari Shrine is next to Nezu-jinja Shrine. Because there are many red toriis, it is famous.
Fushimi-Inari Taisha of Kyoto is the most famous, but similar scenery is seen only a little in Tokyo.
