Toronto Islands - Cycling Tour
This video shows my Sept 4th, 2017 bike ride across the Toronto Islands. The video begins at Hanlan's Point and ends at Ward's Island.
I filmed this using a Contour Roam 2 camera mounted to the main frame tube of my bike at the front. I recorded the audio with a Panasonic voice recorder and earpiece microphone.

Toronto Island as you've never seen
Toronto Island has more ducks then people, a strange site as it comes into it's busiest season for tourism. Water continues to keep people off Centre Island and Hanlan's Point.

We went to Toronto Island and saw the bikes that they rent out. What fun!
Bike Share Toronto
Why not ride a bike on a busy beautiful day in Toronto. Visit the downtown attractions like The CN tower, Rogers Center, Eaton Centre, The Toronto Islands, and more. Going farther put of the GTA? That's okay, simply take the bike with you onto the convenient subway system, get off at your destination and ride away.
The fees are quite inexpensively priced at just $7 per day (24hrs) or $15 for 3 days.

The Toronto Islands are a recreation area close to the banks of Lake Ontario. Like many cities in the world, the former docks have been developed as a tourist attraction and as an exclusive residential area. An apartment with a terrace in a building on the lakeshore costs several million Canadian dollars.
From here we took the ferry along the waterfront and reached the Toronto Islands in approx 10 minutes. From that perspective we had an overwhelming sight of the city . The skyline gives us the illusion of being in a big city in the U.S. and not in Canada.
The Toronto Islands are car-free and an ideal place for city dwellers, to reduce daily stress. They were formed in 1858 after a storm, when the tide of the Don River separated the peninsula from the mainland. Who is considered somebody has a boot in one of these marinas.
Even today, the Islands are indispensable as beach protection during storms. But even as a sanctuary for many water birds such as cormorants, herons and the rare Eastern Bluebird the islands perform an important task.
In the summer months, some citizens of Toronto rent their homes and live on the Islands in houseboats.
Here one can practice all kinds of water sports. The infrastructure for the life on the islands is supported by facilities such as a fire station, churches, restaurants and shops.

Wie in vielen Städten der Welt wurden die ehemaligen Docks als Touristenattraktion und als exklusives Wohnviertel ausgebaut. Eine Wohnung mit Terrasse in einem Gebäude am Seeufer kostet mehrere Millionen kanadische Dollar.

Auch heute noch sind die Islands als Strandschutz bei Stürmen unverzichtbar. Aber auch als Schutzgebiet für viele Wasservögel wie Kormorane, Reiher und den seltenen Eastern Bluebird erfüllen die Inseln eine wichtige Aufgabe.
In den Sommermonaten vermieten einige Bürger Torontos ihre Wohnungen und leben auf den Islands in Hausbooten. Hier werden auch alle Arten von Wassersport betrieben. Die Infrastruktur für das Leben auf den Inseln wird durch Einrichtungen wie etwa eine Feuerwache, durch Kirchen, Restaurants und Einkaufsläden unterstützt.

Access to the Island is by ferry operating from Jack Layton Ferry Terminal at the foot of Bay Street or by water taxis.
We are walking around downtown Toronto and visiting Casa Loma.
Casa Loma (Spanish for Hill House) is a Gothic Revival style mansion and garden in midtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that is now a historic house museum and landmark. It was constructed from 1911 to 1914.
