Abandoned Scotland - Torwood Castle
A go Fund me account has been set up to help restore this castle. Please donate if you can and more videos will be made to show you how the restoration goes.
A rare chance to walk through this Scottish Castle. Its thought construction started in 1566, though some parts maybe older.
From 1957 until 1995 it was owned by Gordon MacLachlan Miller, who served with the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm during WWII, flying Swordfish torpedo bombers on HMS Fencer from 1943 until 1945.

Tappoch Broch, Torwood & Wallaces Cave
A beautiful Sunday here in Scotland so time for a wander around some local places. First up is a 2000 year old Iron Age fort called Tapioca Broch. Then down to Wallaces Cave, which is an abandoned mine, last worked in 1400, 600+ years ago. I could not go safely into the mine due to some risk of being trapped in there.
Torwood Castle | The Kilted Photographer visits...
Being interested in photography & living in Scotland, you tend to focus on the rich history & beautiful scenery of the Highlands & Islands, when there's actually a lot of it closer to home. In this video I'm at Torwood Castle, which is a ruined castle about 10 minutes away from. Situated in the village of Torwood in the Falkirk Council district of Scotland, the castle was built around 1566 and was once the seat of Clan Forrester. The castle was built by the Lords Forrester, who supplied the Crown with timber.
The castle is undergoing a slow restoration now under the Torwood Castle Trust. Although the castle is not open to the public, it can be enjoyed for photography and walks around the main building and grounds.
Anyways, here is the video. As always I welcome all feedback and comments :). Enjoy!
Abandoned Lost Castle of a FAMOUS Scottish Painter
On a rainy day we found this forgotten, abandoned castle near a road winding close by the East coasts of Scotland. Due to its bigger historic context as the residence of a famous painter, the Clan Gordon and Cheyne, and the fact that nothing has ever been produced on it before, we’ve decided to bring you this short documentary exploring its ruins and past. While small, it's history is big and encompasses the Reformation, English Civil War, and the Scottish Covenanter movement. Please stay tuned until the end as we also have an announcement on what's coming next for our channel as we head into the dark days of ancient Scotland's Samhain!

I am an Urban Explorer or Urbex photographer and Youtube creator with an academic background and passion for history, Cultural Anthropology and English with a focus on Celtic Studies. I grew up in a creepy looking 1800s home that later became the abandoned haunted house of the town. In 2016 I made the decision to start photographing and capturing on video these abandoned locations that I explored until then as a hobby. My recent focus has been on once great mansions, asylums and lost places. Currently I travel across the US, UK and Ireland to
allow you to experience these places through me. I hope you enjoy the journey as we shine a light upon these forgotten places.

Torwood (Tappoch) Broch
This Iron Age dwelling was excavated from a large mound in 1864. It is one of the best examples of a lowland Broch, and dates from around 500 BC. It is situated on a now tree covered hill at Torwood, near Falkirk.
Broch`s were circular stone defensive dwellings which rose to several storys high.
The walls at ground level are 20 feet thick, and the surviving structure is about 7 feet high.
Sadly it has deteriorated greatly since excavation, and has not been cared for. This is sad for such an old surviving structure which is part of Scotland`s history.
Scottish Castles - Loudon Castle
Myself and some friends are trying to visit the castles throughout Scotland, with some historical sites from Standing stones to Monuments. If it is a medieval ruin we will try and visit.

This huge, mysterious stone has been discovered at Scotland's largest Neolithic rubbish dump
Archaeologists from the University of the Highlands and Islands Archaeology Institute have found a structure unlike any other discovered so far at the Ness of Brodgar on Orkney. “The sheer size and scale of the stones unearthed are unprecedented on this site,” says Nick Card, the Site Director who oversaw the excavation of the round-edged stones. “The way the stones are built into the construction is also unique to the Ness. This all suggests that they may have been re-used and taken from elsewhere. “Perhaps they may be part of a stone circle that pre-dates the main Ness site. It is all a bit of mystery and we won’t know more until we do more work.”

Edin's Hall Broch, Scottish Borders
A day out walking in the Scottish Borders.
Edin's Hall Broch (also Edinshall Broch; Odin's Hall Broch) is a 2nd-century broch near Duns in the Borders. A broch is an Iron Age drystone hollow-walled structure found only in Scotland. This one is believed to have been constructed between the two Roman occupations of southern Scotland, on the site of a much earlier fort. A peaceful place echoing with history.
