Toshodaiji Temple, Nara, Japan
Toshodaiji-Temple was founded in 759 A.D. by Ganjin, a priest of the Tang Dynasty, as a place for teaching the Ritsu Sect of Buddhism. Ganjin underwent tremendous hardships in his attempts to visit Japan. After a period of 12 years, in which he failed five times to cross the Japan Sea, he was finally able to land in Japan, though he had, by that time, become totally blind due to the tough voyages. The Ganjin Wajo-zo (statue of the Priest Ganjin) is a national treasure, and is the oldest portrait sculpture in Japan. The Uchiwamaki ceremony takes place on May 19th, when heart shaped paper fans are scattered among the crowd to ward off bad luck.

Toshodaiji temple in Nara city - Temple for Buddhist Precepts - Japan Trip
Toshodaiji temple is a bit away from the center of Nara city, so you may not come all the way to this temple. But if you really want to see Japan's Buddhist Architectures of the 8th century, you can't skip this temple.
The main hall of this temple, Kondo hall and the Buddhist statues in it are what you'll surely see when you read books on Japan's Buddhist arts.
Toshodaiji temple is within a walking distance of Yakushiji temple. So if you want to visit this temple, I recommand you should stop by Yakushiji temple as well.

The Miedo contains a famous wooden statue of Ganjin, but only displayed to the public once a year for a few days around June 6, which is the anniversary of Ganjin's death. The replica of the statue was created in 2013 on the occasion of the 1250th anniversary of Ganjin's death, that is now on permanent display to the public.
There are a number of small paths on the temple grounds that lead through thick overhanging foliage. There is a Ganjin's grave located at the end of one of these paths, and you can feel the serene atmosphere in the area being surrounded by nature. The temple also has a large bell back from the Heian period, a chapel, sleeping quarters once used by monks in training, and a small treasure house that requires a small entrance fee.

Kofukuji Temple (興福寺), Nara City, Japan
西国観音巡礼 第 9 番 南円堂 興福寺
Kofukuji Temple, also sometimes known as Nan-en-do, is a temple located in Nara City. It is one of the temples, technically outside the Nara Park, closer to the JR Nara Station, hence one of the first temples you will encounter on the way to Nara Park.
Kofukuji Temple boasts a majestic five storied pagoda and a sprawling temple precincts. One of the main halls was under remodeling when I visited there, but I was able to video most of the items in the precincts.
Kofukuji is temple #9 in the Saikoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage circuit of Western Japan.
Hope you enjoy!!!

Horin-ji Temple ( 法輪寺 )
Description
————————————————————————
Horin-ji Temple was constructed in the year 622 at a location close to the World Heritage site of Horyu-ji Temple. Its original three-story pagoda, which had been commended and had been one of the three pagodas alongside those of Horyu-ji and Hokki-ji Temples that were collectively called the Three Pagodas of Ikaruga, had burned down but was rebuilt in 1975. A beautiful landscape has been created to adorn the Ikaruga area.
