Dawson Creek is a very beautiful city in the northeastern British Columbia, Canada. Municipality of Dawson Creek is of 24.37 s. km and had population count around 11,583 in 2012.
Dawson Creek derived its name from a creek of same name which runs through all of this community. Tourist Places in Dawson Creek, British Columbia make Dawson Creek an amazing tourist place in British Columbia.
Creek was named just after George Mercer Dawson by a member of land survey team when they all passed out through this area in August 1879. Once a very small farming community, Dawson Creek became regional centre just after western terminus of Northern Alberta Railways which extended there in year 1932.
In 1942, community rapidly grew as US Army and used rail terminus as a trans shipment point during construction of Alaska Highway. In 1950’s, city got connected to the interior of the British Columbia via a railway and a highway through Rocky Mountains and since 1960s, growth of Dawson Creek slowed down.
Dawson Creek is situated in windy and dry prairie land of Peace River Country. As seat of Peace River Regional District and a service centre for rural areas of the Peace River, this city has been called as “Capital of the Peace”. It is known as “Mile 0 City”,that refers to the location at southern end of Alaska Highway.
This city has a museum, an art gallery and a heritage interpretation village. Annual events include rodeo and a fall fair.

Vlog #7 1&2/7 To Dawson Creek, British Columbia
I book a flight at Flight Centre Burlington, ON and took the West Jet Air to Calgary, Alberta. Then another plane to Grand Cache, Alberta. From there my sister picked me up and drove about an hour and a half to 2 hours to Dawson Creek, British Columbia. I helped her pack her stuff and left the next day and my 3 & a half hours journey begins. We ended up in Grand Cache, Alberta and rested and stayed in Days Inn hotel. Still tired from my flight and day trip and the night was mine! I snored so hard.
I am not paid for any products shown, worn, or mentioned. It's my own vlog about my life, bloopers, and so on.

Preserving fresh water through innovation at Dawson Creek | Sustainability at Shell
At Shell's Groundbirch natural gas asset in Northeast British Columbia, we recognize the importance of managing water responsibly. This is why we formed an innovative partnership with the City of Dawson Creek to recycle wastewater for our industrial use and reduce the need for fresh water.
The Dawson Creek Reclaimed Water Project further treats a volume of municipal wastewater that was alternatively released into the Dawson Creek to a standard suitable for industrial and municipal uses. The facility and associated infrastructure will satisfy the majority of Groundbirch's future water needs, nearly eliminating the need to draw on fresh water sources in the area.

Village of Cumberland could expand by 2,000
CUMBERLAND - Village council granted final approval on Monday to Trilogy Properties for a 760-acre project being planned for the Cumberland interchange along the Inland Island Highway. The company has been working since 2004 on the project which could include nearly one million square feet of retail space and up to 2,000 residential units.
The company's plans have met with resistance by some Cumberland residents but Mayor Fred Bates says he believes the project will mean a new beginning for the village. Bates said the village has been in the doldrums for 50 years since the closing of the area's coal mines and believes the project will help the municipality become more self-sufficient.
The company and the village still have further work to do on approvals for the various parcels of land involved but company CEO John Evans says the first building on the property should be in place by March of 2011. That date is when the North Island Tourist industry's Discover Centre is to be completed by. Trilogy Properties donated land for the tourism/visitors centre earlier this year.
