Amazing Postojna Cave System - Slovenia
See more details on the blog:
We had the incredible opportunity to go to the Postojna Cave system just an hour by bus or train from Ljubljana, the capital. The Postojna Cave system in slovenia stretches 24km through the limestone. It has been visited by several emperors and was actually blown up in WWII. While you can do the caves as a day tour, we decided to stay the night at the Hotel Jama which is a few meters from the ticket office and cave entrance. Newly remodeled, the hotel was both modern, reasonably priced, and kind of luxurious. The next day we took a guided tour of the cave system seeing the main cave and two additional caves. It was a fascinating tour of an incredible natural place with unique little salamanders that can live a hundred years and go up to ten years without eating. Even if you aren't into caves, this one is amazing. The caverns are huge and the infrastructure is thoroughly though out including an electric train ride into the main complex and back out again. Check out the blog post for specifics.

A visit in the cave of Postojna in Slovenia
The cave train first takes you through a manmade tunnel and then through the first natural passage. After this passage, you get to see two cave halls, first the Gothic Hall, which boasts an abundance of cave formations, followed by the Congress Hall. You will cross the Russian Bridge to reach the Beautiful Caves, as well as the most famous stalagmite and the symbol of Postojna Cave – the so-called Brilliant. The tour comes to an end by visitors boarding the train and returning to the surface.

???????? Slovenia: a travel documentary
#Slovenia #Travel #Documentary
Despite being there, a few hours drive, in Slovenia we have always passed but never stopped. This time we decided to dedicate a trip and a documentary to this country, our neighbor
Slovenia does not have big monuments or world-famous attractions, but a lot of little gems, small and perfect, not yet touched by mass tourism
This country has been able to synthesize and take the best of its most famous neighbors. In Piran, it seems to be in a district of Venice, in Prejama you wonder if we are in Transylvania, Bled is an alpine lake that might seem in Austria while Ljubljana could be the sister of Prague. We are not in Italy, Austria, Bohemia or Transylvania: we are in Slovenia, the green heart of Europe
Our itinerary has been organized like this
We arrived from Italy by car and, after passing Trieste, we stopped immediately after the border, in the small village of Pirano. Here we stayed two nights and we spent half a day to take a wonderful walk towards the salt flats of Strunjan. On the way to Ljubljana we stopped at the Postojna caves and at the magnificent Prejama tollhouse. In Ljubljana we stayed two nights. Excellent food, walks, clubs, nightlife and general relaxation characterize the Slovenian capital. From here, one hour's drive leads to Bled, an Alpine lake, an icon of Slovenia. Unfortunately we stayed only one night and the day was characterized by a summer storm. So we could not take advantage of all the sports that you can practice.
To return to Italy we crossed the Triglav chain by car and we went down along the Isonzo, to stop briefly in Caporetto, to remember the place of the bloody battle

SLOVENIA: EXPLORING the beautiful capital of LJUBLJANA, top attractions ????️⛪
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit Ljubljana which is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It has been the cultural, educational, economic, political, and administrative center of independent Slovenia since 1991.
We will go around the centre of the old town, for a whole day, and we are going to visit the most important sites including the castle located on a hill overlooking the whole city.
Slovenia, a country in Central Europe, is known for its mountains, ski resorts and lakes. On Lake Bled, a glacial lake fed by hot springs, the town of Bled contains a church-topped islet and a cliffside medieval castle. In Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, baroque facades mix with the 20th-century architecture of native Jože Plečnik, whose iconic Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) spans the tightly curving Ljubljanica River.

From where we come from ! by Airtrail Slovenia
Arguably the best promotional video of Slovenia the country we come from. Slovenia is geographically a very small country, sometimes even hard to find on a map. But when one visits our beautiful country it can´t stop to wonder all the diversity he encounters. Starting from Julian alps in north, passing both glacial lakes in Bled and Bohinj to capital Ljubljana. From capital, where old buildings from Austro-Hungarian times leave a long lasting impression, to Postojna and Škocjan caves and finally to gems of slovenian cost, Portorož and Piran. We mentioned just a few spots on tourist map of Slovenia, but list is much more longer. Slovenia will not let you cold, we belive our official promotion moto FEEL sLOVEnia is right on.

Bled lake and castle
The history of Bled castle reaches back to 10th century when the German Emperor Henry II gave his estate at Bled to Bishop Albuin of Brixen. The typical feature of the castle is its double structure.Fortified centre was intended for the land lords of that time, whilst the outer part with walls and buildings was intended for the lower ranks and servants. The Bled Castle today is arranged as an exhibition area, regulary there are dispalys of middle age way of life.
In the middle of Bled lake you will find the only slovenian island.Surrounded by the mountains of the Julian Alps, the island reigns in the middle of an Alpine lake. Folk custom is that you need to ring a bell in island church, for good fortune.
Lipica
Horse lovers should not miss a tour of the Lipica Stud Farm.Lipica is home of world renowed Lipizzaner horses. Place where the thoroughbred white Lipizzaner horses have been bred for more than 400 years. Lipizzaners pose an amazing show of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, with dressage displays and as carriage horses.
Piran
One of the most beautiful small town on Adriatic coats and Mediterranean! Piran , where you´ll feel as though you have stepped right into an italian movie from the sixties. You will be charmed by the narrow streets within the old town wall and in the main square. On the central square you will be greeted by the statue of the most famous man in Piran, the well-known Giuseppe Tartini.

Slovenia In Your Pocket - Postojna Cave Vivarium (Postojnska Jama)
In Your Pocket editor Will Dunn discovers the wildlife of Postojna Cave (Postojnska Jama), the largest cave in Europe. The caves are home to olms (or white salamanders), a blind amphibian endemic to the subterranean waters of caves of this part of Europe. The olms can be seen in the Vivarium next to the visitor's centre. Though blind they are sensitive to flash photography and if you do spot one you should refrain from taking any photos.

Top 5 things to see in Stanjel - Slovenia
Stanjel is one of the oldest settlements in the Karst Region. It is known for its old centre with narrow streets and houses made of stone.
Stanjel is situated on top of the hill. Because of its strategic location it was already populated in prehistoric times.
Here you can experience such tranquillity it will feel like the time has stopped. Stanjel is withdrawn far from the stress and fast tempo of everyday life.
