Extravaganza: A spectacular display of Cesky Krumlov. Located in the Czech Republic, Česky Krumlov is a unique and extraordinary city and was first settled in the fifteenth century B.C.Each nook and cranny of this unique gem surprises with something new to see and provides a wonderful insight into the history of Bohemia. For nearly three hundred years, and up until the beginning of the seventeenth century Bohemian Krummau was ruled by the Lords Of Rosenberg. It was a time of much prosperity that in turn gave rise to many new and magnificent buildings in the centre of the town. In 1992 it was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and since then it has shined out in all of its former glory. Most of the restoration work on the town’s ancient dwelling houses, churches and monastery complexes has now been fully completed. Česky Krumlov Castle features a special attraction with a long tradition: since the end of the sixteenth century a number of bears have lived within the castle grounds! Indeed, the castle’s large moat provides more space for these wonderful creatures than they would have in any zoo. Česky Krumlov is popular with visitors from all four corners of the world and it is, without a doubt, one of the finest and most well preserved treasures of European history.

Cesky Krumlov (Castle Tour) / Day Trip from Prague
We took a day trip to Pesky Krumlov from Prague. It took 3 hours by bus from Student Agency. Cost was 400CZK round trip. I left at 8am and arrived at 11am.
Bus has movies and was comfortable.
It's about a 15 minute walk from the bus station to the city center and about another 10 minutes to the castle.
If you go for rafting, be aware, the water levels all over Czech Republic are low, so it's more slow and calm rafting then wild white water.
Cesky Krumlov | Day Trip From Prague | Travel Vlog
During one of the days Matt's aunt visited, we took a day trip from Prague to Cesky Krumlov. We heard that it would be a magical and glorious place to see. We'd heard it was one of the top most fairytale-like towns in Europe. But somehow, it crushed those expectations! We were completely blown away by its beauty. Watch the video and you will be, too!

Cesky Krumlov -CZECHIA - UNESCO World Heritage Site (Ultra 4K)
Cesky Krumlov -CZECHIA - UNESCO World Heritage Site
Version en français plus bas and description in English follow.
Construction of the town and castle began in the late 13th century at a ford in the Vltava River, which was important in trade routes in Bohemia. In 1302 the town and castle were owned by the House of Rosenberg. Emperor Rudolf II bought Krumlov in 1602 and gave it to his natural son Julius d'Austria. Emperor Ferdinand II gave Krumlov to the House of Eggenberg. From 1719 until 1945 the castle belonged to the House of Schwarzenberg. Most of the architecture of the old town and castle dates from the 14th through 17th centuries; the town's structures are mostly in Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. The core of the old town is within a horseshoe bend of the river, with the old Latrán neighborhood and castle on the other side of the Vltava. The town was seat of Duchy of Krumlov. 8,662 inhabitants lived in Krumau an der Moldau in 1910, including 7,367 Germans and 1,295 Czechs. During the interwar era it was part of Czechoslovakia. Between 1938 and 1945 it was annexed by Nazi Germany as part of the so-called Sudetenland. The town's German-speaking population was expelled after liberation by the American Army during World War II and it was restored to Czechoslovakia. During the Communist era of Czechoslovakia, Krumlov fell into disrepair, but since the Velvet Revolution of 1989 much of the town's former beauty has been restored, and it is now a major holiday destination popular with tourists from Germany, Austria and beyond, as far as China. In August, 2002, the town suffered from damage in the great flood of the Vltava River.
Visit Cesky Krumlov (daytrip from Prague)
Cesky Krumlov was our favorite stop in the Czech Republic. It's a 3 hour train ride from Prague, and a perfect daytrip or 2-day trip. It's picturesque, and full of shops, AirBnBs, and restaurants. Excellent Indian food at a place called Nirvana. All scenic and very walkable.
Czech Republic (Europe) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Czech Republic. Prague, the Czech Republic’s capital, ‘Golden City’, is full of history. The entrance to the historic centre of Stare Mesto is formed by the Late Gothic, Powder Tower. The Altstädter Ring is known as the heart of the city and the large Old Town Square is framed by magnificent, elegant town houses and churches. The most famous of all the bridges across the Vltava is the Charles Bridge from where the Coronation route led from Vyšehrad to Prague Castle on the Hradschin. Kutna Hora is situated close to Prague and historically is one of the country’s most important cities and rightly referred to as a treasure chest. Due to valuable deposits of silver, apart from Prague, it was the most important city in the Kingdom of Bohemia from the thirteenth to the eighteenth century. In the peaceful hills of Bohemia’s Moravian Highlands, is Litomyšl and its splendid mediaeval marketplace. It was once located on an important trading route, a fact that enabled its inhabitants to enjoy much prosperity. The tranquil town of Kromĕříž in the southeast of todays’ Czech Republic is a milestone of nineteenth century Habsburgian history. Following the devastation of the Thirty Years’ War, Bishop Charles Liechtenstein had the castle rebuilt. Kromĕříž Castle was the traditional summer residence of the bishops of Olomouc and became a key influence in the town’s cultural life. In the west is Telč, once an important trading post between Prague and Vienna. In the thirteenth century the small settlement was protected by a castle and in the fourteenth century was granted the status of a city. Today it is considered to be the most beautiful mediaeval town in the Czech Republic. Picturesque villages, impressive castles and mediaeval towns have made this country into a priceless gem. Here fairy tales and legends still blossom and today the Czech Republic is most certainly a cultural land set within the very heart of Europe.

Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic
