PLACES TO VISIT IN GIRONA
I am a big Game of thrones fanboy. When you get a chance to visit Spain you make the most of it by travelling to Girona just to visit all GOT locations shot in the city, It takes around 4-5 hours visiting all the places in the city and actually spending the time in each of the locations rather than rushing through and just visiting just the sake of it.
Before visiting Girona I searched and read few articles to get an idea and liked an article which gives information in detail and you should blindly follow that route. Also you get a map for free at a tourist information office which is also an added bonus.

Places to see in ( Girona - Spain ) Santa Pau
Places to see in ( Girona - Spain ) Santa Pau
Santa Pau is a village and municipality in the province of Girona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. Santa Pau is a picturesque village at the centre of the volcanic Baixa Garrotxa region. There are some excellent walks into the Parc Natural de la Zona Volcanica de la Garrotxa from close to the village.
Santa Pau is a very attractive small village. Its main square, the 13th century Placa Major is surrounded by arcaded stone buidings and is also home to the Romanesque church of Santa Maria. Santa Pau grew up around its castle and the Placa Major was once an important cattle market - 'El Firal dels Bous'.
The 16th century church of Santa Maria is light and airy inside with walls painted in white but the edges of the arches left in grey stone emphasising the arched interiour. The alter is large and golden as is common in churches in the area. There is a little cafe on the main square where you can stop for a drink and savour the atmosphere from under the lovely arched stone arcades. They also have a cake shop and do a particularly nice cheesecake!
Just off the Placa Major on an adjoining square is a fine looking restaurant - again with tables under the arches allowing diners to really savour the atmosphere of this lovely village. Santa Pau is in the heart of the Volcanic area of Baixa Garrotxa and there are various walks that can be done in the area to discover the volcanic craters.
The Volca Santa Margarida has a huge round crater and together with the Croscat and the Rocanegra volcanoes are the most distinctive in the area. Pick up a map from the tourist office for walks to the craters of Volca Santa Margarida and Volca del Croscat.
If you have time there is also a huge beech wood close to Santa Pau with a couple of walking trails in it. In the opposite direction there is a lovely section of river with waterfalls and a pool - the 'Salt de Can Battle' - a lovely spot for a picnic.
( Girona - Spain ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Girona . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Girona - Spain

This Barcelona tourist info office also has a gift shop with an extensive range of quality souvenirs for your visit to Barcelona.
The Tyler Group TIP
Tourists often have difficulties finding the Catalunya tourist office -- even though it's the biggest tourist office in Barcelona and it's on the busiest square in Barcelona. Why? Because it's actually underground! The way to find it is first to find the El Cortes Ingles (the large shopping complex) the tourist office is close but actually under the Catalunya Square near the fountain. Look for the large pillars with an I at the top. These pillars are just outside the tourist office. There are two entrances to the Barcelona tourist office -- each pillar marks an entrance.
Columbus Monument Tourist Office
Address: Pl. Portal de la Pau (near the Columbus monument)
Metro: Drassanes (Green Line, L3)

Not as comprehensive a service as the other 2 main Barcelona tourist information offices given above. Mainly supplying leaflets, port information and information on cultural attractions. Barcelona Bus Turistic and Barcelona card enquiries can also be made here however they do not provide an accommodation booking service unlike the other two offices above.

This Barcelona tourist board office is somewhat different from the others. It does not offer any advice on accommodation, tourist attractions or tours. If you attempt to ask them questions on anything other than cultural activities and events they will direct you to the Catalunya tourist office which is the nearest main tourist board office from them.

Living in Spain for a Year as a Language Assistant (Girona) - Meddeas
Apply now through
My name is Shane and I am an American from Chicago (a place with almost no similarities to Spain). I finished college in 2016 and I didn’t want to jump right into the crazy American working world. Living in Spain for a year seemed like a much better option!
What I was doing while living in Spain?
This academic year I lived in Girona, Spain. Girona is 70 kilometers from Barcelona, 40 kilometers from Costa Brava, and 200 km from the Pyrenees mountain range. Girona has the best restaurant in the world, numerous historical sites and absolutely charming people.
During the week, I was speaking English to primary students in Colegio Bell-Lloc. Students would come to my office and I would help them learn English. I focused on verb tenses, pronunciation and basic grammar. This is the “work” portion of the program (although it never felt like work). I taught exclusively in groups of two students for a maximum of fifteen minutes. The kids loved coming to see me and I loved being able to help them.
When the weekend came, I explored Spain. Meddeas provides a grant to live in Spain that allows us to explore the country while we are not teaching English. I often found myself at a beach, on a mountain or in a city!
Girona and the Pyrenees Mountains
Girona provides dozens of buses that go to Costa Brava. Costa Brava is the coastal region of Catalunya that stretches 60 km until France. The coast is a wonderful place to escape to if you ever feel the need to get away from the city life.
The Pyrenees Mountains are only a 90-minute drive away from Girona. If you enjoy skiing or snowboarding, this is the place for you! My host family and I went on a four-day skiing trip that I will never forget. For the first time in my life, I dealt with being too warm while I was snowboarding! (The majority of ski resorts have student discounts that I recommend taking full advantage of)
Sports in Madrid and Barcelona
If you like to exercise, you will love Spain. Even in bigger cities like Barcelona and Madrid, exercising is no problem. In Barcelona, I recommend running/walking along the water or going to Parque de Cuitadella. In Madrid, Parque de El Retiro will take your breath away!
Barcelona and Madrid are incredible cities. A lot of Spanish people prefer one city to the other. This is partially due to the massive rivalry between the cities two football clubs and political issues. However, while you are in Spain, try to visit both cities. You won't regret it!
International Traveling from Spain
Another luxury about living in Spain is being able to travel to other countries. While in Spain, I traveled to Rome, Amsterdam, Paris and Ireland. The public transportation in Europe is inexpensive and easy to maneuver! I loved each city but I was always excited to return to beautiful Spain!
I could have written a whole book about my time spent in Spain. Instead, I decided to make a video!
I must admit that I am not a big fan of pictures. In fact, I despise them. Family pictures, posing for pictures, looking at pictures and taking pictures. “Everybody say cheese! ”. I’d rather not! I prefer keeping the memories in my head and saving them for a later time. Video, on the other hand, is something that interests me. Videos reveal more information than pictures and generally leave the viewers more satisfied. My mother, like most mothers, was extremely curious about her son’s new life in Spain. I could have sent her 1000 pictures and she still would have had more questions for me.
The main reason I made this video was to get young people like me to live in Spain for one year. Moving to Spain or taking a trip to a new place with new people can, and most likely will, change your life. Anyone with an open-mind and a passion for helping people would enjoy this experience. I also made this video to get my lovely mom to stop worrying about what I was up to!
