Belgrade Serbia - Top things to do and see in Belgrade
Belgrade Serbia travel guide - Things to do and see in Belgrade
Belgrade (Београд), which means the “White City” is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. It’s one of the oldest metropolises in Europe, with settlements unceasingly remaining here for at least 7000 years. Belgrade rests on the relics of a prehistoric city. The first urban settlement was built in the 3rd century BC by the Celts. Due to its tactical location, the city has been conquered by the Celts, Romans, Goths, Huns, Ottomans, and then fought over by the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian Empires. It has been fought over in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times. Belgrade was bombed a few times in the 20th century, both in World War I and War War II and once again by NATO in 1999. As a result of its turbulent history, the capital of Serbia is an incredibly rich mosaic of different cultures, influences and styles with a unique atmosphere. Belgrade is known as the city that never sleeps and the symbol of great nightlife. It's perfect for a long weekend or city break, so don't miss these amazing things to do and see in Belgrade: 1. Republic square, 2. Knez Mihailova street, 3.Terazije square, 4. Kalemegdan fortress and park, 5. Club Terassa Lounge (located at Kalemegdan), 6. Skadarlija, 7. Nikola Tesla Museum, 8. Temple of Saint Sava, 9. Ada Ciganlija, 10. Kosancicev venac, 11. Zemun, 12. Lido beach, 13. Belgrade Beer Fest, 14. Savamala, 15. Cruise the Belgrade’s rivers, 16. Nikola Pašić square, 17. St. Mark's Church, 18. Try local food, 19. Check out one of the famous Belgrade museums or enjoy a stroll along Belgrade Waterfront, 20. Take a walk around Slavija Square, Kralja Milana and Nemanjina street, Balkanska street, as well as Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard - Belgrade’s most important traffic arteries, a shopping streets, and a testament to historical events.
Of course there are many more things to see and do in this lovely city. Belgrade is full of character, life and most importantly, Belgrade has some of the world’s best food.

SERBIA WILL SURPRISE YOU! Belgrade First Impressions | Serbia Travel Vlog
Don't miss this vlog - Belgrade will definitely surprise you! This is not the Serbia you expect | Grab a 2 month free trial of Skillshare Premium, only 500 available here —
Serbia... wow! Didn't expect we'd be in Belgrade making travel vlogs if you asked us a few years ago, but here we are, and we LOVE Belgrade! This place is an amazing, and very underrated, travel destination - let us show you why.
In this vlog we sort of cover both our initial impressions of Belgrade, how we feel about Serbia, our surprises and then at the end wrap it up after we've stayed for 2 weeks in Serbia. Theres lots of things to do in Belgrade - we visit the Fortress, explore a cute park, find an amazing restaurant scene, scope out the nightlife spots, eat some local(ish) food, check out the shopping scene and try some local craft beer.
First impressions last, or so they say, and it's true for Belgrade. How we felt on the first day is exactly how things stayed a few weeks later - it's amazing! We also took a road trip to Novi Sad for the day with friends, another popular spot in Serbia, but we weren't filming that day sorry.
Moral of the story - consider places like Serbia, cities like Belgrade, locations that the masses don't always chat about and share online. These are the cities and experiences we love, places like Belgrade are why we travel - hidden gems that we get to experience, travel, vlog and share with you... thanks us later.

When I had the opportunity to travel to Serbia, I jumped at the chance! I've always been fascinated in the country, but known very little about it. We were only in Belgrade (the capital) for three days, so took full advantage of our time here. You'll see from the vlog we tried to fit in as much as possible, from partying, to shooting, to Serbian lessons and eating!
Hope you like it guys, it was a lot of fun to film, but do let me know if you have any suggestions for future vlogs, places, things to see and improvements are always welcome!
A special thanks to Yana for helping us with our Serbian, showing us around and also introducing us to breakfast, Serbian style!

Day Trip from Belgrade to Novi Sad, Serbia | Minimalist Travel
Novi Sad is Serbia's second largest city. It's less than two hours away from Belgrade by train so we couldn't pass up the chance to visit it. The main train station in Novi Sad is just outside the city centre, so we walked into the city to the main square (Trg Slobode) and then over the river to the Petrovaradin Fortress. If you have any recommendations for sites to visit in Novi Sad, let me know! Maybe we will visit Novi Sad again before we leave Belgrade. :)

Blue Danube River Tour | Belgrade, Serbia
We went on the Blue Danube Tour as a day trip from Belgrade, Serbia, and we spent the entire day exploring the Ðerdap (Iron Gate) National Park, starting with the Golubać (Pigeon) Fortress. Our guide Nina and driver Sasha were amazing, and really made the day worthwhile. The fortress is nestled on top of a mountain cliff right next to the Danube - such a picturesque place to start our tour! Apparently, Serbia is where the Danube is the widest, deepest, and narrowest. We did too much on this tour to cram into one vlog, so stay tuned for the next part!
For more information on what we did on this tour, check out Rob's blog post - yup, he's blogging now! Something about wanting to tell his side of the story...

Tour the Belgrade Museum of Aviation in Serbia
Belgrade’s Museum of Aviation, which used to be known as the Yugoslav Aeronautical Museum, is located in Surcin, Belgrade, next to Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport. It contains one of the most unique collection of aircraft and fighter jets in the world, including aircraft made and owned by the Soviet Union/Russia, USA, Germany, Yugoslavia, as well as jets and prop driven planes from Canada, the U.K. and France.
Also included in the collection is the canopy and various pieces of wreckage from an F-117 Stealth Fighter shot down near the village of Budanovci, Serbia on March 27, 1999, as well as pieces of an American F-16 Fighting Falcon that was also shot down, as well as a badly damaged MQ-1 Predator drone, a unique Lockheed T-33, a MiG-21 and more unique fighter jets, fighting warbirds from World War II and before.
I want to thank my good friend and colleague Sam N. for taking the time to visit and film this great museum while visiting his in-laws in Serbia.
