This was my very first walking tour video. I apologize for the shaky footage.
The film chronologically progresses from morning to night, showing daily life around Athens and Piraeus.
For those planning on visiting, those who’d like to visit but cannot or those who might be nostalgic and want to re-live their past visits / life there, hopefully this film shall satisfy, time and time again.
Filmed in December 2010.

Travel tips for the city of Athens!
From the Port, it takes 20 minutes to drive to the city of Athens. If you wanted to explore Athens on your own, it'll take 1 hour by subway or 40 minutes by bus.
I don't think that's worth it. I would probably take a taxi instead. It should cost about 9 euros each way.
Once you somehow get your way in Athens the city is really walkable. All the popular sites are pretty close to one another.
Because of that, after the tour I felt like I could have explored Athens on my own and saved the money. But I'll let you judge the experience. Our tour cost 95 euros/person.
Top Sights in Athens, Greece:
1) Acropolis
If the line is long, they also have another entrance in the south side that is away from the parking lot so it much fewer people. Tickets for Acropolis is 20 euros a person.
Once you get in it is a little hike up to the top of Acropolis.
Located on the southwest slope of Acropolis is this stone theatre built in 161 AD. This theatre holds 5,000 people and was used for music concerts.
2) Parthenon
The most famous building in the citadel is the Parthenon. It is a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena.
3) Erechtheion
This is a Greek temple on the north side of Acropolis dedicated to Athena and Poseidon. On the south side of the building is the famous Porch of the Maidens with six female figures as supporting columns.
4) Hadrian's Gate
It was built to celebrate the arrival of the Roman emperor Hadrian. It's kind of like the roman triumphal arches. It is made out of Pentelic marble. This is the same marble used for the Parthenon.
5) Temple of Olympian Zeus
Don't waste your money going into to see the Temple of Olympian Zeus as you can actually see it for free outside the gates. If you want to walk in and admire just how tall these pillars are the entrance fee is 6 euros.
6) Panathenaic Stadium
Next stop: This multipurpose stadium is huge! It is the only stadium in the world built entirely out of marble. It used to be built out of limestone. Marble was used in 144 AD.
7) Athen's White House
I'm here visiting the white house of Greece, but I haven't even visited my own country's White House. It was built in 1897 for Prince Constantine I. Now it is the official residence of the president of the Hellenic Republic.
8) Changing of the Presidential Guards
From here you can see the changing of the presidential guards. Like the guards, in London they also can't make any facial or eye movements and must not show any expression.
9) The Academy of Athens
This building is divided into three orders: Natural Sciences, Letters and Arts, and Moral and Political Sciences.
10) Plaka
Next stop: Plaka. It's an old historical neighborhood of Athens. It is known as the neighborhood of the Gods because it's really close to Acropolis and archaeological sites. The entire area is closed to cars. Plaka has a village feel, with narrow cobblestone streets lined with tiny shops selling jewelry, clothes and local ceramics.

Walking in Athens - Cruise Tour from Piraeus
Cruise tour to Athens - Royal caribbean cruise stop in Piraeus March 22, 2017
We had been told that there was a X80 express bus from the cruise terminal to Syntagma Square. Bought a X80 ticket in a kiosk at the terminal - € 4.50 for the whole day. Went to the bus stop - there were lots of buses, but no X80. Back to the ticket office to get to know that X80 were not running so early in the season, but we had to take a city bus to Piraeus Station and then the metro to Athens. Easy, we were told - except that most information was in Greek with Cyrillic letters !!! We took a city bus, got off at the fifth stop, walked to Piraeus Station and took the metro to Monastiraki right at the Avissinias Square and Plaka, in the center of Athens. In the train information thankfully is in English. Started the trip to go along the main shopping street of Ermou to Syntagma Square with Vouli building that houses the Greek parliament and the presidential residence. In front of the tomb of the unknown soldier stood two National Guards - Evzones - wary. Continue through the National Park to the ruins at Agora. We had a 'cappuccino break' from which we could see the Acropolis. Went through Plaka and some incredibly interesting old streets and houses. In Plaka we did stop at a local restaurant where we got musaka, before heading back to the metro to Piraeus.
We only saw the Parthenon temple on the Acropolis and Agios Georgios chapel on Lycabettos mountain from the distance.
Let's Visit Port Piraeus, Home of the Athenian Navy - History Tour in AC: Odyssey Discovery Mode
In this guided history tour we visit Port Piraeus, home of the Athenian Navy, which was protected by the famous long walls of Athens! We are joined by Professor Daniel Faas who speaks at length to the history of the Athenian trireme fleet, its port, and its dockyards. This video was filmed in the Assassin's Creed: Odyssey Discovery Mode.
In the video we explore Port Piraeus and its surroundings. We begin by talking about the geography of Athens and the history of its development. This focuses on the building up of its main port and the impressive defensive structure that was the long walls of Athens. We then descend to the ground level to talk about the commercial and military activities taking place. Then we turn to one of the Trireme vessels to talk about their details and use in combat like the battle of salamis. Then we turn to how these ships were built and maintained in ancient Greece. I hope you enjoy this educational documentary on ancient Greek history and Athenian history presented through the the Assassins Creed Odyssey Discovery Mode.

Piraeus Greece: Greek Food At Seafood Restaurant Pyrofani Piraeus
Piraeus Greece: Greek Food At Seafood Restaurant Pyrofani Piraeus. I eat lunch at this very good Greek restaurant, The Pyrofani Piraeus, with a great view of the Saronic Gulf. The owner of Pyrofani Piraeus explains what the name means and the method of fishing used to catch fish in the Saronic Gulf. After the Greek Food I take a walk along the street and show this neighborhood in Piraeus Greece. This area is not near the Piraeus Port so there are not many tourists. If you are going to Piraeus Greece to catch a ship at the Piraeus Port, consider exploring the city a little, and even trying a Greek restaurant like this one.
Here is the address for The Pyrofani Piraeus:
