Is Catholic Japan the New META?
Today, I will be discussing if going Catholic as Japan, actually useful.
Shimabara Catholic Church
The only Catholic Church in Shimabara. At first I thought it was a lot older than it actually is, thats why I took the video... Apparently this church was started around 1932 and finished around 1997, are at least how we see it today. When I was there I kept noticing the steel and iron beams and supports and was suspicious of the age.
The church has more relics of the Shimabara Rebellion and supposed written history of the original missions from the 1500's. Most of the stained glass also represents these histories.
I could not understand what the sister was explaining, but kept recording for you guys to hear.
At one point I think she noted there are only about 20 practicing Catholics living in Shimabara now.

EP243: Millennial Nuns, Pay Gap, & Japanese Friendship
Today we find out what it's like to be a millennial nun, and Susie talks about her theory on why the Catholic Church is having trouble recruiting clergy. We find out why women are better surgeons, why income inequality isn't improving, & why people are pissed about the new Netflix show Insatiable. Susie reveals why Japanese people have more security as they age. We find out whether everyone has an accent and why children's book are a great way to learn about another culture.

Inside the Church in Nagasaki Japan
From our trip back in March.
Quote from japan-guide.com:
Oura Catholic Church (Oura Tenshudo) was constructed in the last years of the Edo Period in 1864 for the growing community of foreign merchants, who took up residence in Nagasaki after the end of Japan's era of seclusion.
Oura Catholic Church is considered the oldest standing Christian church in Japan, and is the only Western buidling to be designated as a national treasure.

Lighthouse Baptist Church in Japan, fund raising for the church building in 2018
We planted the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Niigata-city in Japan on January 3, 2016. Since then, we've been worshiping every Sunday, utilizing a small ramen restaurant as our church building and holding bible study and choir rehearsal at public venues.
With God's blessing, our church has been growing little by little. What's more, since we first began, we have baptized 10 new-born Christians. Currently, our church has 20 members including those who live long distance in adjacent towns. Through concerts, Easter-celebrations, Pentecostal Sunday, Christmas, luncheons and some events at our church, we have grown to be publicly recognized as the christian church in our hometown.
2018 marks our third year in public ministry. It was only three years ago when we were given the vision of raising the banner for the Lord in our town in Japan. Now, we've started fund-raising for our first church building.
Our goal is 5,000,000 JPY (46,000 USD). We need your prayer and support. Renting a building for our church through your donations will help us further our mission to lead the world to worship God through SERVING, LOVING, EVANGELIZING and DISCIPLESHIP.
