Splashdown Waterpark at Tower Park, Poole
DARE YOU RIDE?
Splashdown Waterpark is a great day out for family and friends. There's something for everyone -- from big kids to little ones -- with some of the UK's most exciting waterflumes.
For the thrill-seekers, brave the Screamer with its sheer vertical drop. Plunge into darkness on the Black Thunder. And hold on to your pants as you shoot down the Spacebowl like a human pinball. Or if that sounds a bit like hard work, just go with the flow on the Mississippi Drifter.
There's the fabulous Little Buccaneers SplashZone with a starter flume, water play area and Buccaneer Bay, our toddler swimming pool. And, on a hot summer's day, Buccaneer Beach is the perfect spot for a splash with the little ones. There's even somewhere to play for little landlubbers.
We're open all year with indoor rides in the winter. In the spring, we take the slide outside where the Mississippi pours into the Grand Canyon. And, in May, bring on the awesome Screamer Tower -- it's fluming good fun! What are you waiting for?

Poole is a large coastal town and seaport in the county of Dorset, on the south coast of England. The town of Poole is 33 kilometres east of Dorchester, and adjoins Bournemouth to the east. The local council is Borough of Poole and was made a unitary authority in 1997, gaining administrative independence from Dorset County Council.
Poole is a tourist resort, attracting visitors with its large natural harbour, history, the Lighthouse arts centre and Blue Flag beaches. The town has a commercial port with cross-Channel freight and passenger ferry services. The headquarters of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) are in Poole, and the Royal Marines have a base in the town's harbour. Despite their names, Poole is the home of The Arts University Bournemouth, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and a significant part of Bournemouth University.
Poole Harbour and Poole Bay are popular areas for a number of recreational pursuits, including sailing, windsurfing, surfing, kitesurfing and water skiing. Poole's wide and sandy beaches are used for swimming, sunbathing, water sports and sailing. The beaches at Sandbanks are often used for sporting events such as the Sandbanks Beach Volleyball Festival, and the annual British Beach polo Championship.
The A350 road is Poole town centre's main artery, running north along Holes Bay and on to the A35, and as a single carriageway to Bath and Bristol. Most local bus services are run by More Bus (formerly Wilts & Dorset) who are based at the town's bus station and have served Poole since 1983. Poole has four railway stations on the South Western Main Line from London Waterloo to Weymouth. From east to west these are Branksome near the border with Bournemouth, Parkstone, Poole railway station in the town centre and Hamworthy.

A few quick snapshots of Bournemouth filmed by me while on a family day trip; then five miles (8 km) down the coast for a brief view of Poole, Dorset; starting with a bridge opening to let ships through, a few snapshots of ships and boats in Poole Harbour and footage of a strange thing hanging around in the streets of this rather quaint coastal town.

Stourhead House and Gardens, on the River Stour, Stourton, nr Warminster, Wiltshire, England, BA12 6QD
On the 2nd April I took a tour bus visit to this beautiful house and grounds. It lies in the seclusion of its own valley set in spectacular Gardens there is much to see on a day visit here. Stourhead was one of the first country villas to be built in the new Palladian style. The house was designed by Colen Campbell but Henry Hoare I unfortunately died the same year in which the house was completed. This Palladian villa style at Stourhead was constructed and then finished in 1725 and had taken four years to build. The land had previously been in the ownership of a family called Stourton’s and then Henry Hoare I, the new owner, pulled down the near derelict Stourton Manor to build his fashionable Palladian country house which was designed by the Scottish architect Colen Campbell.
A large lake is magnificent and is very important to the very essence of this splendid garden. Classical Temples adorn the grounds along with grottos and rare and exotic trees. Stourhead is at the very heart of a vast 1,072-hectare ( 2,650 acre ) estate where chalk downs, ancient woods and farmland are managed for nature conservation and perfect to explore. In 1902 a fire gutted the central part of the house resulting in the loss of all the furniture on the upper floors. By 1907 the restoration of the house was complete and in 1946 Stourhead was given to the National Trust.
It was once described as a living work of art by a magazine when it first opened its doors in the 1750’s. The careful consideration to the design by Henry Hoare 11 enabled the views to be almost unique just like scenes from a painting in landscape.
The Hoare family were very successful in the world of banking, which enabled them to buy Stourhead. Hoare’s Bank is the last independent bank and the Hoare family is still in charge and still running the bank today.
