Located at the southern tip of Lake Geneva, surrounded by the Jura mountains and the Alps, Geneva offers exceptional views of the majestic Mont Blanc. The city that houses the United Nations headquarters and the Economic Commission for Europe, Geneva is made up of some 41 per cent foreigners from 190 different nationalities. With more than 200,000 inhabitants, Geneva is the second most populated city in Switzerland after Zurich.
Today, we invite you to discover this beautiful city, the home of watchmaking, where philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau was born one evening in June 1712. After having checked into our rooms at the Hotel Metropole facing the lake, we offer you a walk in the heart of the English garden which houses the famous flower clock.
Another emblem of the city is the Rue du Rhône where the most beautiful brands have taken up residence. Bucherer will then reveal some of its finest jewellery pieces. A little further up, we will enter the new Artya boutique, before taking our first gourmet break, at the Café Perche in the heart of the Parc des Eaux vives. With 22,000 m2 of retail space, the
Manor Geneva is Switzerland's second largest store, and the largest in terms of revenue. We will stroll the aisles, looking for luxury perfumes and haute couture chocolates. We spotlight a brand of unique and customisable bags called The Collector, before ending our evening at Metropole's MET Rooftop Lounge. But for now, let's drop our bags at the Metropole Hotel. We could not dream of a better location. On one side, the English Garden and its flower clock, with the iconic stream of water in the background, on the other, the Rue du Rhône, heaven on earth for all lovers of luxury shopping. A legendary building dating back to 1854, with an elegant design, from the entrance hall to the Mirror Bar, to the some 127 contemporary-style rooms and suites ranging in size from 15 to 80 square metres.
Outside, Gusto's terrace is often busy for both a drink and a taste of Roman-inspired, healthy cuisine based on seasonal produce. In the summer season, more and more people are getting closer to the water jet every day, hoping to receive a few fresh drops of water. Standing at 140 metres tall, it has become over time a true emblem of Geneva. Its story begins in 1886. At the time, the hydraulic plant which distributed the driving force of the Rhône to the craftsmen and watchmakers of Geneva, was forced to create an open evacuation of the pressurised water, when the workshops closed at night. The place generated so much enthusiasm that it never stopped working. In 1891, the City of Geneva even decided to promote the Water Fountain to the rank of tourist attraction by installing it at the end of the Pier des Eaux-vives, in the heart of the harbour. 500 is the number of litres of water thrown into the air every second.12,000, on the other hand, is the number of flowers that make up this magnificent clock located under the Ferris wheel, and near the Patek Philippe boutique, creator of the very first Swiss wristwatch in 1868. It was a ladies piece, ordered at the time by Countess Koscowicz of Hungary. Another must-see house is that of Swiss jeweller and watchmaker Bucherer. With around thirty boutiques worldwide, they are one of the main players in the sector. An exceptional house located at number 45 on a street that is often compared to Fifth Avenue in New York, or even to Place Vendôme in Paris. A luxury kingdom par excellence, Rue du Rhône is the second most expensive street in Switzerland, behind Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich. A little further up, rue Neuve-du-Molard, at number 22, is a brand new boutique that has just opened, that of watchmaker Yvan Arpa. In the windows are watches that are for the most part unique and above all extraordinary. What is amazing is this bezel which was literally forged with a Tesla coil and a Faraday cage. The shop is also in the image of the designer: totally unique…!

4-bed Townhouse for Sale in Valence, Poitou Charentes, France on frenchlife.biz
More info on Townhouse for Sale in Valence, Poitou Charentes, France with 4-bedroom: ►
A fully restored stone farmhouse and barn set within beautiful grounds on the edge of a tranquil hamlet in the Charente countryside. With four bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor, a large lounge/dining room and an excellent wine cave, this property would be suitable as either a permanent home or a holiday home
The renovation work has all been completed using top quality materials and nowhere is this more evident than in the Kitchen where a fully fitted range of solid wood kitchen units has been installed along with an electric oven and induction hob set beneath a large extractor canopy.
Off the main entrance hall there is Shower Room and a separate Toilet along with a useful cloaks cupboard. The Lounge and Dining Room extends to 36m2 with a wooden staircase rising to the first floor. The room is fully tiled, has an inset wood burner and double doors opening out into the garden; there is even a built in Bar!
A short corridor leads through to the barn, part of which has been converted to create two bedrooms (one of which is on the ground floor) and a shower room. The rest of the barn comprises a Garage, a Wine Cave with ambient temperature control, a workshop, a wood store and a large storage area on the first floor.
On the first floor of the main house are two large bedrooms, both with exposed beams, Velux windows and large storage spaces within the eaves. Included in the sale price is an integrated air circulation system that feeds fresh air to these bedrooms.
The house sits behind large iron gates and to the front is a terraced garden with plenty of parking space and access to the barn. The rear garden has a barbecue area and is fully enclosed with a tall hedge to create a complete sense of privacy -- it is stocked with a good range of mature trees and shrubs creating plenty of shady areas to sit out in the summer. The garden across the lane is fully enclosed, has a large wooden storage shed (big enough to act as a garage if required) and is laid to grass with a good mixture of shrubs, fruit trees and nut trees.
Amenities such as a boulangerie and bar/restaurant can all be accessed within a few minutes drive whilst the bustling town of Chasseneuil is just 10 minutes away. The international airport at Limoges, with regular year round flights to and from a number of UK airports, can be reached in just 45 minutes.

The station was completed in 1867 for CF du PLM and by architect Louis Bouchot in Louis XIII style.
Nice Ville was built away from the centre although Nice has now extended around the station. The station has been remodelled several times but always kept its original style of Arles stone sculptures and forged steel rooftop. The passenger hall is richly decorated and shadowed by balconies and a big clock but has lost its grand chandeliers.
It has remained in its original condition since its opening, although modern equipment has been installed to welcome the arrival of the TGV Sud-Est. Before the arrival of the TGV, the station was host to several other prestigious express trains: Côte d'Azur Pullman Express, the Blue Train and the Mistral.
It is situated on the Marseille–Ventimiglia railway.
TROYES, THE OLD TOWN

Trains at Ashford International, HS1 | 22/04/18
A busy and warm visit Ashford International situated on High Speed One after spending around 2 hours on Sunday 22nd April 2018. A varity of action is included in this video such as planes, buses and loads of different classed trains!
Ashford International info:
Ashford International railway station (IATA: QDH) is a National Rail international and regional station on the High Speed 1, South Eastern Main Line and Marshlink Line in England, United Kingdom, serving the town of Ashford, Kent. It is 56 miles 9 chains (90.3 km) down-line from London Charing Cross and is between Pluckley and Westenhanger stations on the main line. Domestic trains that call at Ashford are operated by Southeastern and Southern, and international services by Eurostar.
Eurostar trains use platforms 3 and 4, while domestic trains use the original platforms 1 and 2, and a new island platform (numbered 5 and 6) built by British Rail when the Channel Tunnel opened. While all tracks are electrified with 750 V DC third rail, platforms 3 to 6 are also electrified with 25 kV 50 Hz AC overhead lines.
The domestic terminal to the north of the tracks and the international terminal to the south are connected by a subway which has access to the platforms; access to the international trains on platforms 3 and 4 is only possible through an overbridge from the international terminal. The local bus stops are at the entrance to the domestic terminal.
History:
The present station was built by the South Eastern Railway (SER) and planned during the initial Railway Mania as a stop between Croydon and Dover. A special train from London Bridge ran on 28 November 1842, and the station formally opened on 1 December, along with the rest of the line from Redhill. The original station consisted of two platforms with two through lines, along with wooden buildings. The line ended at Ashford until the extension to Folkestone opened on 28 June 1843.
The station became part of the Southern Railway during the grouping of 1923. The station then passed on to the Southern Region of British Railways on nationalisation in 1948.
Another station (Ashford West) was opened by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway on 1 July 1884 for services via Maidstone East to London. This only lasted 15 years until 1 January 1899 when passenger services were diverted to the former South Eastern Railway station. Remarkably the complete station (buildings and platforms) survived for handling freight and engineering trains until it was closed and demolished around 1999 for construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
When sectorisation was introduced in the 1980s by British Rail, the present station was served by Network SouthEast until the privatisation of British Rail.
Ashford station has been rebuilt on two occasions in recent history. The station layout up until the early 1960s consisted of two through tracks, two through platform loops and two bay platforms accessible from the east for terminating services.
For phase two of the Kent electrification scheme in 1962, the two bay platforms were converted into through platforms whilst the main station buildings on either side of the line were replaced by an overbridge including a booking hall, newsagent and catering facilities.
Although most of the original station was swept away during the early 1960s rebuild, two substantial platform canopies dating from the South Eastern & Chatham Railway (SECR) era were retained, albeit without their original wooden valence until the later rebuild of the 1990s.
