Toy Soldier Factory Demonstration Cork, Ireland
We stumbled across a Toy Soldier Factory in Cork on our way to Kenmare. My husband was so excited because he had invented a game and will caste the playing pieces to make his dream become a reality. You can buy the molds and materials to make your own pieces at the factory. It's well worth your trip.
St. Patrick's Day Parade in Macroom, Cork, Ireland on March 17th 2013
It was a bright but cold and showery day but a relatively large crowd of people turned out for the parade that lasted about an hour. I have condensed most of it into this video to give you a taster of what was present.
Prince August Toy Soldier Factory is about 15 minutes drive from Macroom so its a fairly local event for us.

Battle of Waterloo - model display
This model display of the Battle of Waterloo is made up of 15,000 hand-cast and painted 25mm figurines. It was made by Andre Rudolph over a period of eight years.
The table display measures 8 x 4 metres.
This display represents around an 13th of the actual numbers (almost 200,000) that were involved in the Battle, but it does give a good idea of how crowded those few square miles were that day in June 1815 and how desperately the Battle was fought.
It's on loan display at the Prince August Toy Solider factory located at Kilnamartyra, a few miles from the west Cork town of Macroom, and worth the visit! The type of moulds and metal from which the 25mm soldiers were cast are available in the factory shop next to the display.
How to use support boards when casting from moulds - Prince August Toy Soldier Factory
When using vulcanised black rubber moulds you need support boards to help protect the mould and spread the pressure of the clamps. There are 3 different sizes available and these can be applied to any of the appropriate size moulds in our stock.
You need two of these and both have two different textures on their sides. The smooth side and the rough side. Use the rough side against the mould and clamp against the smooth side.
For further information on casting, check out our website or YouTube channel.

Interview of André Rudolph, creator of Battle of Waterloo exhibit in Cork, Ireland..
André Rudolph is a German hobby caster that built a huge diorama depicting the center of the Battle of Waterloo, the historical conflict between the Allied Forces of Britain and their allies Prussia against the French army lead by Napoleon Boneparte on June 18th, 1815 near the small town of Waterloo in modern day Belgium.
André hand cast 15,000 metal 25mm scale miniatures from Prince August rubber moulds over an eight year period to complete this epic scene.
Prince August moved the exhibit to Ireland to display in their visitor center near Macroom, Co. Cork in May 2015 and André visited it in August and agreed to this interview.
