You can see this place was hit by Tsunami. About 30km away from the Fukushima Daiichi nuke plant. Many people enjoy surfing. (English subtitles)
Why people in Japan don't go to their beaches in Summer is always such a mystery.
This beach was farther from Fukushima than the one I ended up actually swimming in that day. I went a little further north from this one north of Hitachi City, when I got to Iwaki, which is so close to the Fukushima reactors I was worried, but there were people in the water a the beach in Iwaki unlike this one. So I went body surfing and the waves were just perfect.

High school students from New York participated in the Kizuna Project in July 2012 and visited Fukushima and many other cities in Japan. They know that many people in Fukushima and Tohoku are still suffering from the reputation damages (fuhyo higai) caused by the earthquake and tsunami from March 11, 2011. We made this video with multiple languages so that our positive messages will reach many people in the world! Visit Fukushima! Support Fukushima! We love Fukushima! Ganbappe, Fukushima!!!
