Trekking CINQUE TERRE, ITALY! ???? We visit Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola & Riomaggiore
❤️ Trekking the Cinque Terre trail in Italy... from... Monterosso to Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. ????
TREKKING MAP:
Çinque Tære, translates to Five Lands in Italian. On this episode we visit each unique town along the coast of the Italian Riviera.
Day 1: Monterosso to Vernazza ( FREE ROUTE )
Day 2: Riomaggiore to Manarola ( PAID NATIONAL FEE )
Day 3: Vernazza to Corniglia ( FREE ROUTE )
The Cinque Terre National park boasts hiking trails that link the colourful villages which are UNESCO World Heritage listed.
OUR EXPERIENCE:
We stayed in Monterosso in May 2018. After trekking each day we caught the train back to our accomodation every night. The public transport runs regularly but be careful of pick pockets. Warning signs are everywhere at train stations, although we didn’t have a problem.
BACKGROUND:
The villages were severely impacted by torrential rains and flooding which caused deadly mudslides in 2011, killing 9 people.
For current information on the walking trails visit:
CLOSURES:
Riomaggiore - Manarola: The main part of the trail is closed (expected to open in April 2021). But just because the MAIN trail is closed, doesn’t mean you can’t trek between these destinations. There are alternate routes higher in the cliffs.

Cinque Terre hike from Monterosso to Vernazza, Italy
The trail from Monterosso to Vernazza in the Cinque Terre region of Italy offers one of the grand hiking experiences of Europe. Enjoy spectacular views as the route takes you through enchanting vineyards, along cliff edges and finally to the seaside village of Vernazza where you can celebrate with great Italian food and wine at an outdoor restaurant.
From north to south, the Five Lands of Cinque Terre are Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, each about a mile apart with a total population of nearly 6,000. The hiking trail connecting them passes through terraced vineyards that offer wonderful views for much of the way and is not overly strenuous for the typical traveler. Total trail length is 7 miles, with each section between the towns covered in a comfortable walk averaging 2 hours. This episode brings you on the most popular and beautiful leg from Monterosso Al Mare to Vernazza. We present the show with multiple images sometimes in the screen toi give you a multimedia experience, and then we repeat the entire hike on a single screen later in the program with added narration. This is a practical guide showing you what the hike requires and the beauties it delivers.
Hiking All of Cinque Terre, Italy IN ONE DAY
If you've ever wondered what it's like to hike Cinque Terre, this is it. Come along as we hike from Monterosso to Riomaggiore and explore Vernazza, Corniglia, and Manarola along the way.
I also wanted to give you an overall travel guide to hiking Cinque Terre, so here are all the distances and details (with timestamps from the video):
Start: 9.21am get off train in Monterosso (0:01)
30 minutes - explore Monterosso, walk over to trail head (0:13)
9.57am - Buy tickets on the trail, 7.50 euro each. (0:41) Medium-ly difficult hike to Vernazza on main Coastal Trail #2 (0:48) (3.3km, 2.1mi)
11.20am - Arrive in Vernazza (1:32), explore for 40 minutes, or an hour if you want to go up to the castle
12.00 noon - difficult hike to Corniglia on main Coastal Trail #2 (2:02). Up from Vernazza is hard, but going down to Corniglia is easy. (3.2km, 2mi)
1.25pm - Arrive in Corniglia (2:26), Explore for 35 minutes
2.00pm - Very difficult hike to Manarola via Volastra. (3:01) Trail #2 was still closed due to landslides. We took Trail 587 (also known as 7a depending on which sign you're looking at) - very difficult climb, but pretty. Hike up 30 minutes until it connects with Trail 586 (still called trail 7a on some maps, also 6d) at 3:23. Take a right and climb a little higher until it levels out. Follow this for 50 minutes through vineyards straight into Volastra (4:25) and you'll see signs for Manarola. This is Trail 506 (or 6).
Down the 1100+ steps for 10 minutes (4:39). (total 5.5km, 3.4mi)
3.52pm - Arrive in Manarola (4:45), explore for 1 hour (includes eating too)
4.50pm - Via dell'Amore is still closed, so we took Trail 531 up and over (5:37). Very steep up (600+ stairs), slippery steep rock/sandy trail down. Difficult, but short. (1km, 0.62mi)
5.38pm - Arrive in Riomaggiore (6:35)
5.45pm - Take the train back to La Spezia (6:45)

CINQUE TERRE TRAVEL GUIDE 2019: Monterosso, Manarola, Riomaggiore, Vernazza, Corniglia
The best CINQUE TERRE Travel Guide for 2019: Visit Monterosso, Manarola, Riomaggiore, Vernazza & Corniglia. We did all five villages in 48 hours and each village offers a different experience. Please share your experience and tips below for other to read. Our top tips for your visit:
1. VALIDATE YOUR TRAIN TICKET: If you don't validate your ticket in the green machines then you risk being fined €50 (which we did - gutted).
2. CARRY CASH: Many places are cash only, so don't forget to carry some with you.
3. PREPARE FOR STAIRS: We were surprised by the amount of stairs and uphill climbs there were. For those with mobility issues I would recommend Monterosso and Vernazza.
4. HIKING MUST KNOWS: Planning to hike? There are lots of hikes in the Cinque Terre national park, you will have to pay to walk some of the routes (but if you bought a day train ticket then it's included). The terrain does require hiking boots and be sure to take plenty of water and sunscreen. Also the coastal walk through all five towns is no longer fully accessible. Due to a landslide you can only do a few of the routes, we did Corniglia to Vernazza and then to Monterosso.
5. NO DRONE ZONE: Drones are now banned in Cinque Terre and the villagers will approach you if you attempt to fly one.

CINQUE TERRE It's A Difficult Hike! It Took 6 Hours But It Was Worth It.
We read online that the Hike between towns is not that difficult and should only take a couple of hours. This was not our experience but it is still worth it as the beauty is unmatched!
To save money we stayed in La Spezia, a town just outside Cinque Terre. Then we got a two day train pass for our family to travel back and forth between towns. It ended up being a great idea. Plus La Spezia is a nice Italian town as well.
Cinque Terre, which means Five Lands, comprised of the five small coastal villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso located in the Italian region of Liguria. We hiked the Blue trail which links all five towns. This trail is long, treacherous at some points, and absolutely beautiful. We loved Cinque Terre and recommend it to anyone up for an adventure. See how ours unfolds.

Hiking the Cinque Terre in One Day Part 2: Riomaggiore to Manarola
In this part of the video we start our hike through the Cinque terre. and end up with way more than we bargained for. The trail was way steeper than we were expecting. The red route of the CInque Terre from Riomaggiore to Manarola is nothing to be taken lightly. This exhausted us pretty quickly. It did however give us some amazing views we wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

Sentiero Azzurro- The Light Blue Trail (Cinque Terre Documentary)
A documentary about the beautiful villages of Cinque Terre in Italy. This is more than just about the beautiful landscapes, its about issues people fail to recognise and I took this opportunity to expolore and capture some of that through my film. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy making it and meeting the amazing people there.
Cinque Terre - timelapse from Italy (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore)
Cinque Terre which means Five lands is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera between Genoa and La Spezia. The area is part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cinque Terre is a very popular tourist destination and comprises of five villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. These unique villages hide between green, steep hills and the turquoise Ligurian sea. The villages pastel-coloured houses are built on top of rocks in the rugged, steep landscape. Cinque Terre is located in the coastal region Liguria which is popular with tourists for its beaches, towns and cuisine. Travel between the five villages can be done either by train, by boat or by hiking the beautiful trails that connect the villages.
Monterosso is the first village we meet on our journey through Cinque Terre. This is in my opinion the least exciting of the five villages. Monterosso has several hotels and a long beach with deck-chairs and umbrellas. The center of Monterosso has a nice atmosphere with pastel-coloured houses, artisan shops and many small streets.
Vernazza is simply breathtaking and very popular among tourists. Vernazza was original the only village with a natural harbour so ships departed from here and as a result, Vernazza became the most prosperous village. The first records about Vernazza goes all the way back to 1080. On 25 October 2011, Vernazza was struck by massive flooding, and mudslides that left the town buried in over 4 metres of mud, causing over 100 million euro worth of damage. Today the main source of revenue for Vernazza is tourism. However, as a testimony to the strength of centuries-old tradition, fishing, wine and olive oil production still continue.
Corniglia is the smallest and least crowded of the Cinque Terre villages. The population of the village is about 150. It is located 100 meters above sea level and thus not so easily accessesble from it's train station as the other villages and it doesn't have a harbour, so boats don't stop here. The walk from the train station to the village include climbing the Lardarina stairway with 382 steps. But there is also an easy option: the local electronic buses. Corniglia is characterised by narrow roads and is surrounded on three sides by terraces and vineyards, the fourth side descends steeply to the sea. The history of the village goes back to Roman times. According to the legend, Corniglia was founded by a wine producer, who named the village after his mother, Cornelia.
Manarola – along with Vernazza – is registered among the most beautiful small villages of Italy. Most of the houses are pastel-coloured and many are built on top of the rugged coast. Colours and lights are best here in the evening hours, before sunset. Manarola's primary industries have traditionally been fishing and wine-making. The village is famous for it's sweet Sciacchetrà wine.
Riomaggiore is the most southern village of the Cinque Terre and is known for it's historic character and its wine. The village was built in the valley of the Rivus Maior (river), hence the name. The river is now running under the main street. The main street and the railway station are connected by a long pedestrian tunnel with beautiful mosaics. Riomaggiore is like a labyrinth of alleys and steps. The houses are built close to one another, so not much sun enters the back alleys and they are thus nice and cool during the hot summer months. Riomaggiore is divided into two by the railway line. The area by the sea with the colourful little boats (gozzi), small seafood restaurants, rocky beach and where tourists enjoy the mediterranean sun. The upper part is the agricultural village (borgo dei contadini) surrounded by terraces.

Vernazza to Monterosso Al Mare Hike | CINQUE TERRE ????????
••• SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL HERE: •••
Hello world!
On this day we hiked from Vernazza to Monterosso Al Mare. In this video you will be able to see what this hike is like, see what the trails are like and see the beautiful views and scenery. Once we arrived in Monterosso we spent the afternoon on the beach where we had the opportunity to cool off, do some snorkeling, and jump off a cliff a few times.
If you're ever in Cinque Terre and you want to do some hiking I would definitely recommend this one. It is about 2.5 miles (4 km) and can be done in about 90 minutes. As you can see in my video it took me longer, but I have my reasons :) By no means would I say that this is an easy hike. The first mile to two miles is pretty steep, but not too bad. Make sure you take enough water and if you do this in the summer be prepared to sweat you a$$ off; so bring extra clothes. The trail is clearly marked and as I already mentioned the views are beautiful This video doesn't do this hike justice. It was an amazing experience and I would definitely do it again.
Thanks for watching!

Cique Terre Italy || Hiking the trail
Along this rugged stretch of the Italian Riviera, the five towns of Cinque Terre sit on the coast with long stretches of green separating them. We're hiking from Monterosso al Mare to Vernazza. After seeing some sites in the picturesque village of Vernazza we head out to the trail again. This time from Vernazza to Corniglia. Here in this village we had some delicious local made icecream then took the train to another one of the picturesque village Manarola. The hiking trail Via dell' Amore (Lovers’ lane) is the most famous and romantic stretch of the Cinque Terre coastline. Which connects villages Manarola and Riomaggiore.

Riomaggiore (Rimazùu in the local Ligurian language) is a village and comune in the province of La Spezia, situated in a small valley in the Liguria region of Italy. It is the first of the Cinque Terre one meets when travelling north from La Spezia.
The village, dating from the early thirteenth century, is known for its historic character and its wine, produced by the town's vineyards. Riomaggiore is in the Riviera di Levante region and has shoreline on the Mediterranean's Gulf of Genoa, with a small beach and a wharf framed by tower houses. Riomaggiore's main street is Via Colombo, where numerous restaurants, bars and shops can be found.
The Via dell'Amore is a path connecting Riomaggiore to its frazione Manarola, also part of the Cinque Terre.
Riomaggiore is the most southern village of the five Cinque Terre, all connected by trail. The water and mountainside have been declared national parks.
