Bucharest Airport to City Center in 4K

Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (Romanian: Aeroportul Internațional Henri Coandă București) (IATA: OTP, ICAO: LROP) is Romania's busiest international airport, located in Otopeni, 16.5 km (10.3 mi) north of Bucharest's city centre.[1] It is currently one of two airports serving the capital of Romania. The other is Aurel Vlaicu Airport, which no longer serves scheduled passenger traffic....

Instahood stories
Join us for a visit to the neighborhood known as the Montmartre of Bucharest, thanks to its beautiful 19th-century architecture. But as we believe in calling a spade a spade and a fig a fig, we’ll tell you the real local story.
Bucharest Chronicles
For a back to basics tour, we give you an overview of our recent past and our older much more glorious history. Starting from the University Square - probably the most popular meeting point in the city, we then move along Calea Victoriei where aristocrats, merchants, communist officials and then new capitalists shouldered each other, in their respective eras, to get a place on the city’s oldest route.
Uncover hidden charms in Mahallopolis
This experience is for the curious, the bold, and the spirited. We'll depart from the Old Town via the subway to visit one of the oldest and most beautiful cemeteries in town. It’s basically an open air museum similar to the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris or London's Highgate Cemetery. Enchanted by the eerie stories, we’ll take a turn through a lively park unknown to many tourists but cherished by the locals.
How To travel easy and cheap from Bucharest Airport to Bucharest City Center with less than 1 Euro
SMS number changed to the old one: 7458 !
More details here: - instructions are in Romanian only
Beware ! Fines for not having (SMS ticket or electronic card ticket) or not validating a ticket on electronic card or not validating your electronic card for those who have monthly passes increased 10 times, up to 500 RON (lei), from the end of 2018 ! So, don't forget to send an SMS and check the confirmation message before boarding !
Important ! SMS number is now 7464 ! ... from May, 2018.
Prices and the other details remain the same.
SMS payment resumed !
Same details ... but a bit cheaper: 0.72 Euro + VAT per one trip or 3.91 RON (all taxes included), as on June 15, 2017.
From Bucharest Airport to City Center with less than 1 euro !
You can reach from Bucharest Henri Coanda (Otopeni) Airport to Bucharest City Center or Bucharest North Railway Station (which is the city main railway station) using public transport.
No taxis, no rip-off, no tourist scams, no Romanian language needed, no tickets ...
What it's needed: a mobile phone with some prepaid credit - no more than 1 euro or a valid provider subscription and roaming activated.
There are 2 public bus lines that connect the Airport with Bucharest.
One is no. 783, the most common and the most frequent one.
It connects the Airport with City Center, stopping at, in this order: Piata Victoriei (Victory Square), Piata Romana (Romana Square), Universitate/Piata 21 Decembrie 1989 (University / December 21, 1989 Square) and Piata Unirii (Unirii Square) - end of 783 line. Those stations are only the ones in the city center.
A complete end to end trip (Airport to Piata Unirii or reverse), no matter the direction takes ~45 minutes in normal traffic conditions.
The other line is no. 780.
It connects the Airport with Gara de Nord (North Railway Station) and the last stop is Gara Basarab (Basarab Railway Station) near Gara de Nord.
This line is less frequent and it should be taken only if you want to go to this area or you plan to take a train to other Romanian city.
The most important thing ... how to pay !
Before boarding, send a SMS to 7458 containing text E783 if you are boarding line 783 or E780 if you are boarding line 780.
In a few seconds, you will receive a message that will confirm your purchase.
This SMS confirmation is valid for one trip and should be kept until you have finished your trip.
Please note that confirmation is only in Romanian. However, if you received a SMS as presented in video, everything it's alright.
The cost is ONLY 0.75 Euro + VAT (24% maximum VAT ~ 0.18 Euro), meaning a total of 0.93 Euro a single trip from Bucharest Airport to city center (or in the opposite way).
There is the same cost for both express lines (783 or 780) in both directions.
In Romanian lei, this will be 3.99 lei, because the public transport company has an exchange rate of 4.44 lei per 1 Euro, a bit less than 4.51 - the official rate when this video was created.
This SMS is free of charge from Vodafone, Telekom and DigiMobil mobile networks. Orange mobile network takes a small fee of 0.05 Euro + VAT added to those 0.93 Euro, meaning a total of 0.992 Euro.
For comparison, a taxi on these routes would have cost 35-40 lei (~8 or 9 Euro) ... in the case that would have a standard rate of 1.39 lei / km, without any meter scams activated and with a 5-10% tip. Those are only the ordinary tariffs. The are taxis charging 3.5 lei / km or worse, trying to impose a high price from the start or to charge you in euro/usd.
Avoid them and use the public transport if possible ! ... it's 10 times cheaper !
One more important thing ...
You can use this way of payment to buy a ticket valid for an entire day on all public transport buses, trolley buses and trams (WITHOUT subway) operating inside Bucharest, except Suburb lines (you won't need them at all for visiting Bucharest) and Express lines (the ones going to and from Airport - 783 and 780, described above).
Just send a SMS containing A (only this letter, capitalized) at 7458 (the same number previously mentioned).
Entire cost is 1.65 Euro + VAT ~= 2,046 Euro in total (or 8.79 lei).
Last but not least:
The overcharge / fine for being caught without a valid ticket or SMS is 50 lei, almost 11 Euro, if it's paid on the spot.
Please note that ticket inspectors are wearing blue vests having written CONTROL on the back and ratb in the front left with white reflective letters.
✅ AIRPORT BUCHAREST ROMANIA - HENRI COANDA - ROMANYA HAVAALANI
Aeroportul Internaţional Henri Coandă Bucureşti
Henri Coanda – Otopeni International Airport, Bucharest, Romania
“Henri Coanda” – Otopeni International Airport, the largest airport in Romania, is located outside Bucharest’s urban area, in the town of Otopeni, and is one of Bucharest’s two airports (the second largest being “Aurel Vlaicu” International Airport in Baneasa district).
During WWII, Otopeni airport was a military base. Until 1965, it was only Baneasa Airport that had operated commercial flights. Later on, a new commercial airport was built on the site of the old military base in Otopeni. The upgraded runway was 3,500m long, being longer than that of Orly Airport in Paris at the time.
The building of a new passenger terminal was included in the upgrading and expansion program. The upgrading continued with the building of a VIP lounge, ahead of the visit to Romania by the U.S. President Richard Nixon, in August 1969. In 1986 a second runway, measuring 3,500 in length, was inaugurated, and a new airfield ground lighting system was implemented. In March 2011, the departure terminal was extended and the number of boarding gates was increased to 24.
In 2018, “Henri Coanda” – Otopeni International Airport registered a record high air traffic movement, of over 13.8 million passengers, and an increase of approximately one million people, as compared to 2017. 57 airlines operate on the airport, taking passengers to and from 128 destinations.
12 HOURS ROMANIA TO BULGARIA BUS | Bucharest to Plovdiv Travel Vlog 2018
Romania to Bulgaria by bus was a long travel day! In this travel vlog we left Bucharest and arrived in Plovidv more than 12 hours later...⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
The bus from Romania to Bulgaria was actually really easy and cheap. Although it was a long day of travel as the vlog suggests, but we were happy with being patient on the way out from Bucharest.
Arriving in Bulgaria was nearing the end of the travel day, but we still had to grab another local bus to get to Plovidv - our home for the next few vlogs.
The bus around Europe seems to be an easy way to go and even though this travel vlog was showing our 12 hour day it was still pretty painless! Now we've arrived in Bulgaria after a week or so in Bucharest and ready to explore a new city - Plovdiv!

Getting From Romania to Bulgaria By Bus - Bucharest to Sofia
Getting From Romania to Bulgaria By Bus - Bucharest to Sofia is easy on the FlixBus. We did this trip and found it to be comfortable and efficient.
The trip took around 7 hours and left from Autogara Militaria Bus Station in Bucharest, which is about 7km from the Old Town Bucharest Area.
The drop off point was Serika Bus Station in Sofia, Bulgaria. This is a strange bus station in that you won't see a taxi rank or ATM's at the bus station. But if you walk behind the bus station there is a huge supermarket with a taxi rank and an ATM machine inside.
The border crossing from Romania into Bulgaria was easy, they just collected our passports, took them into the immigration office whilst we remained on the Flixbus. The whole process only took about 20 minutes and we never had to leave our seats. Easy.
The bus had a toilet on board and was very clean and modern. There was however no wifi and no entertainment system. But it was very cheap so no complaints.
