European Region of Gastronomy 2019 - Sibiu, Transylvania, Romania
Sibiu, Transylvania, Romania is the 2019 European Region of Gastronomy. It was granted this title because of its unique and amazing food, specifically its traditional cured meats, its variety of cheeses, its incredible breads. We got an AirBnb in the old town for 5 nights and experienced as many of the Sibiu specialties as we could. Food like gogosi, a deep-fried bread stuffed with meat and cheese. We ordered the lower half of a pig's leg, which was salty and rich with flavor. We even tried some 'normal cheese'. One of my favorite meals came from visiting a local deli where we bought sliced meats, including their special bacon. A simple lunch in our apartment that consisted of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, a brined cheese similar to feta, deli meats, and bread. That's a lunch I could eat everyday, especially in Sibiu.
Sibiu also has a beautiful old town. It was recently restored and is currently looking pristine. The city consists of an upper and lower old town, as well as a new town, which we even ventured into to find a cool little restaurant in the cellar of a house.
The current president of Romania is from, and was once the mayor of, Sibiu. He is ultimatley responsible for making it the incredible tourist attraction that it is today. Go there, see it, and eat it.

Transylvania is home to some of Europe's best-preserved medieval towns, like Brasov, Sibiu and Sighisoara. Of course, Transylvanian cities are beautiful and atmospheric, but we focused on nature during our 2019 holidays. Beautiful passes among the peaks and reaching up to the clouds :) … and bears ! Traveling towards transylvania, we also visited Timisoara.
We fell in love with the two highest routes in Romania. It's absolutely necessary to take a drive through Transfagarasan Road and Transalpina DN67C because the views are amazing. Anyway, see for yourself.

Transylvania Tour To Sibiu | WE MISSED The Famous Corvin Castle ???? | Romania 2019
Part 2 of our Transylvania trip with a visit in this lovely town Sibiu. From there you can do a day tour to the famous Corvin Castle or rent a car. We decided against both, not up for spending a whole day to visit one castle and also not comfortable driving ourselves. Instead we went to a nearby salt lake resort and chilled out the whole day. Sometimes it is more important to enjoy your holiday and do what you feel like and not ticking off boxes.

La Ceaun - Just after arriving to Brasov, we went for lunch in the center square. We tried a huge assortment of Transylvanian Romanian foods. An amazing way to begin this food tour of Brasov.
Cucinino Pasta Bar - After taking a walk through the city and walking the hills around the city, we stopped at Cucinino Pasta Bar, mostly with the intention to try Transylvanian truffles. Amazing.
Hotel Alpin - Poiana, Brasov - From the center of Brasov, we drove about 20 minutes up the mountain and checked in to Hotel Alpin a classic ski resort hotel.
Stana Turistica Sergiana - Dinner was one of the highlights of this entire experience for me, a traditional countryside Romanian restaurant. The different stews, including deer, rooster, and beef cheeks were outstanding. Highly recommended restaurant when you’re in Brasov, Romania.
Cabana Postăvaru - Ski Lodge, Restaurant - In the morning, after riding an e-bike up the side of a ski slope, we had a huge Romanian mountain breakfast.
A fantastic food adventure in Romania, and thank you again to Cristian Macedonschi ( for hosting us and making it happen.

Sibiu Romania with Sherco Enduro Tours Day 1

SURU REFUGE (CABANA SURU) ENDURO SINGLETRACK FAGARAS MOUNTAINS, SIBIU, ROMANIA
This is the final part of Suru descent from Suru Refuge to Sebesul de Sus. It is an awesome descent thru a natural canyon with lots of camber corners and lots of adrenaline. You must come and check it out. After this we climbed up again to Suru and then, next day went to the ridge of Fagaras Mountains and did Chica Pietrelor (Rocky ridge) that takes you down to Turnu Rosu. Also a nice one with beautiful views everywhere!

Closed doors - Transylvania Bike Tour
Follow us on our short holiday in Transylvania cycling through old villages and visiting 14th century old fortified churches. On the second day of the tour we are unlucky and all churches on the list like the one in Dealu Mare, Movile. Iacobesti and Agnita are closed.
We still enjoy a wonderful day on the bikes with close friends.

CICLISMUL E CONTAGIOS - Turul Ciclist al Sibiului 2016
Cea mai importantă cursă de ciclism pe etape din România, Turul Ciclist al Sibiului, a avut loc în perioada 6 - 10 iulie 2016. Cu ajutorul Velo Cafe am urmărit performanţele rutierilor români la TCS 2016. Ne-am întâlnit, la Sibiu, cu Andrei Nechita, Daniel Crista, Eduard Grosu, Serghei Ţvetcov, Tuşnad Cycling Team.
În acest video am urmărit şi emoţia din maşina tehnică a unei echipe care a avut un rutier în evadare la cea mai grea etapă a TCS.
