Visiting the Dracula Castle in Transylvania, Romania
Inside the business of Transylvania and the real-life Dracula's castle in Romania
Dracula, as he is popularly known, is loosely based on the legend of Vlad Dracula -- better known as Vlad the Impaler, a notorious ruler in Romania in the 1400s.
Visiting Dracula's Castle (Bran Castle) in Transylvania, Romania
With howling winds we ascended the many steps leading up to the infamous Bran Castle. The castle associated with Bram Stoker's Dracula Castle is a national landmark and monument in Transylvania, Romania (Romanian: Castelul Bran; Hungarian: Törcsvár; German: Törzburg). We found the experience fascinating as most areas of the castle were open for tourists to explore including some dimly lit staircases. After checking out the castle we headed back down to briefly check out a market selling all kinds of trinkets and restaurant featuring hearty Romanian cuisine. Overall, if you're based in Brasov this makes for a fantastic 'spooky' day trip ;)

Visiting Dracula's Castle (Bran Castle) in Transylvania, Romania Travel Video Transcript:
So at last the destination we've been waiting for. We have arrived in Bran to visit Bran Castle which may or may not be associated with the Dracula. Hahaha. Let's go!
Oh ho ho, it's going to blow me over.
This is officially one of the windiest places I have ever experienced. The castle sits on a really rocky cliff so you get wind coming in every direction possible. And it is pretty crazy. We're just hiding out in this little nook for now.
Bran Castle sits on the border between Wallachia and Transylvania and it is the setting of Bram Stoker's horror novel Dracula. That being said, there are other castles in Romania linked to the legend of Dracula.
We're now entering the secret staircase.
Now we're checking out the torture chamber rooms and it is pretty gruesome the methods that were used back in the day. It makes feel quite lucky to be alive this present moment.
Overall impressions of Bran Castle? It was phenomenal. What really surprised me is that from a distance it doesn't look that big but when you get inside there is a lot to explore. Like we probably spent well over an hour just checking all of the different rooms, climbing up and down the stairs and just getting an overall impression of the caste.
Alright, so now that we have visited the castle it is time to go for lunch and I am hungry.
So it is very cold day here in Bran and it is also lunchtime so we've popped into a little restaurant and we're trying to warm up with the hottest, heartiest foods we can find. I'm having some soup with some polenta and a cup of tea. Sam's gone with a salad and the beef. Meh, a little healthy a little bland but here we are enjoying our Romanian lunch.
So the food I'm most excited about trying is something called Romanian Mici and if you look down here it's kind of like a pork sausage or a pork roll. And, oh wow, check this out. Oh, that looks good. It almost looks like a spicy sausage.
Mmmmm. That is an amazing sausage. So juicy, so tasty, so flavorful. I love it. Oh, now I'm going to try some next.
So the polenta with cheese has arrived and it looks a little bit different from what I had yesterday. Yesterday my polenta came with cottage cheese and sour cream but this one appears to have cheese melted on top so I think maybe they put it in the oven. It looks like it was kind of baked. Yeah, baked polenta. Look at the gooey cheese. Oh la la. Wow. That's going to be hot. Mmmm.
I think it actually has goat cheese in the middle. Like a salty goat cheese and then mozzarella on top. Pretty good.
After lunch, we did a little wandering around the town and we found that it reminded us of Halloween with all its spooky trinkets and souvenirs.
There is a cool little market nearby the Bran Castle selling all kinds of trinkets including warm hats, Halloween costumes and other kinds of souvenirs.
Hello, pup. Hello. Meet Dracula's dog. Or are you a wolf? You're a wild wolf. Yes, you are. Yes, you are.
It's biting my ass now. It's not a game anymore puppy. No, hey. Hahahahaha.

Dracula's Castle! Bran Castle, Transylvania, Romania
Considered by many (and almost all tourists) as Dracula's Castle, Bran Castle in Transylvania, Romania, has a long history. As I say in the video, it really can be considered Dracula's Castle, but maybe not Vlad the Impaler's! Decorated as it would have been in the time of Queen Maria, who used it as a summer home, it is Medieval Gothic at its best. Perhaps the most famous of Transylvania castles, it's a must-see when visiting Romania.

Romania, Village Life in Transylvania
A beautiful little documentary of village life in Gyimes, in the South Eastern Carpathians in 2018. Ancient, vernacular, small farm-houses line the stoned side roads on which horse-drawn vehicles carry logs, hay, stone and people this way and that all day long. Most people live by small-scale farming producing their own honey, cheese, bread, veg and fruit, milk and meat. Water is always from the well, pure, sparkling and cold. Cows and sheep wear bells and high above the village the mountain meadows hum with insect life while the extraordinarily rich flora remains untouched by sprays and chemicals.
Szekler people, Romania's Hungarian speaking minority live in Gyimes, which now lies within Bacau county. The history of the area and its association with Transylvania, is very complicated .... I am no historian and apologise for any errors I have made.
Enjoy the film, all taken with a little, hand-held Panasonic HC X920.

Dracula Transylvania | Brasov Bran Peles
We absolutely loved Transylvania. We went expecting something spooky and very Dracula -centric, but what we found was beautiful wilderness, towns, history, and maybe one or two legends. Brasov turned out to be one of our favorite places in the world. The old town is busy enough to be interesting, but quiet enough to feel cozy and comfortable. The hike up to the Brasov sign was unexpectedly difficult - but only because we took the wrong route up. If you're looking for the more leisurely path - head to funicular and follow the trail that starts there. Or just take the funicular up (on a day it's operating!).
We had heard Bran Castle would be a letdown - it was supposed to be unbearably crowded, small, and sparse. Not to mention, Dracula is a figment of Bram Stokers imagination. The real Dracula never even lived in Bran Castle. As luck would have it, a Tuesday afternoon in October is the PERFECT time to go. We often found ourselves standing in rooms and stairwells completely alone which really allowed us to take it all in. Go to Bran Castle in the off season (which is also Halloween season!) if you can.
And last but not least, Peles Castle was a palace we had never heard of until we started searching for top places to visit in Transylvania. Wow, it blew us away. We've been to several palaces throughout Europe but this one was the most detailed we can recall. Unfortunately the only way to get in to Peles seemed to be via a tour. And unlike Bran Castle, it was crowded and you were always following your tour leader. So it didn't leave much space or time to linger in a room and really really admire all of the details. You could probably sit in a chair for an hour and still keep noticing different carvings and flourishes.

HALLOWEEN SPECIAL | Overnight at DRACULA'S CASTLE | Poenari Castle, Transylvania (2018)
I explored and camped at Poenari Castle, the REAL Dracula Castle. Many people believe Bran Castle is Dracula's Castle, but there is no evidence to suggest that he ever lived there. Vlad the Impaler did restore and live in Poenari Castle, making it the REAL Dracula Castle, along with a few ghost stories. Read more:
To celebrate Halloween, I spent the night camping at Dracula's Castle. There will be ghost stories, paranormal investigations, Halloween candy tasting, and Jarrad might just get attacked by a stray animal (LOL!). Stay Spooky!

Dracula Castle in Transylvania in Halloween season | Discovering the Bran Castle | Gaba_VR
The Dracula Castle in Bran is one of the most beautiful castles in the world with famous vampire legends. Let's discover the Bran Castle with a 360 camera to discover what the connection is between the old fortress and the Dracula myths. And for further 360 contents and tutorials, please subscribe:
=======================================
It’s about forty-five minutes from Brasov, or more than an hour drive from the Transylvanian Airport to reach the so-called Dracula Castle, and passing through the Transylvanian lands and villages, the road itself is a great experience, with horse-drawn carts, and herds grazing peacefully on the hills.
And now, in the fall, it's all about vampires and other mystical creatures in Bran.
According to history books, Vlad Tepes spent only a short time here, between the walls of this castle. However, this didn’t stop the locals from promoting this medieval Hungarian fortress as a real Dracula Castle…
The furnishing of the castle is from the early 20th century, from the Romanian royal family. Now the romantic-style of the Romanian Queen, Mary, is mixed with the accessories of the Dracula fairy tales.
