Transylvanian Wonders - Three Castle Tour
I had the pleasure of touring three of Romania's great castles with Transylvanian Wonders. Since I was staying in Brasov, it wasn't too far of a drive to Peles and Pelisor Castles, we toured both castles and were able to avoid the long lines which was so nice. There's so much to see here, we spent a while going through each castle and I learned a lot about the history of each.
Next we drove to Bran Castle, but first we had an amazing lunch. So much meat, cheese and picked veggies. Too much food for the two of us to finish, but it was so good I stuffed myself as much as I could.
After lunch we walked over to Bran Castle, skipped the line and went right in, so convenient. We even got to go in some rooms where most others weren't allowed, it was so nice to be with Greg since he's a well known guide and knows his way around the castles. It was interesting to learn the real story of the Dracula castle and the history of everything.
Thanks again for the great tour, was one of the highlights of my time in Romania!
Check them out for your next tour from Brasov or Bucharest.

My 30 Day Eurail Pass - Brasov, Romania
I was really looking forward to visiting Brasov, I spent 5 nights here so I had plenty of time to enjoy the surrounding cities and castles. Thanks to the Centrum House Hostel for a nice stay in one of their private rooms. They're right in the center of Old Town, a great location to be in the middle of all the action.
I met up with Liz and Fran from Germany and we took the train to Busteni, to go hiking on the mountain there. We ended up taking the cable car up to the top and walked around in the snow a little bit. Then had a nice local meal in the town and made our way back to Brasov.
Transylvanian Wonders was so kind enough to take me on a 3 castle tour to Pele's Castle, Pelisor and Bran Castle, plus an amazing lunch in Bran. The castle tour was great, we didn't have to wait in the long lines, and avoided most of the crowds.
My last day I took the cable car to the top of the mountain in Brasov, it's a nice little hike to the Brasov sign, great view of the city. I had some nice meals there in Old Town, saw some amazing sights, met some cool people and had a great time. But then it was time to take the train to Bucharest.

Brașov:
Brașov is a city in Romania and the administrative centre of Brașov County.
According to the last Romanian census, from 2011, there were 253,200 people living within the city of Brașov, making it the 7th most populous city in Romania, and the metropolitan area is home to 369,896 residents.Brașov is located in the central part of the country, about 166 kilometres (103 miles) north of Bucharest and 380 kilometres (236 miles) from the Black Sea. It is surrounded by the Southern Carpathians and is part of the Transylvania region. The city is notable for being the birthplace of the national anthem of Romania and for hosting the Golden Stag International Music Festival.
With its central location, Brașov is a suitable location from which to explore Romania, and the distances to several tourist destinations (including the Black Sea resorts, the monasteries in northern Moldavia, and the wooden churches of Maramureș) are similar. It is also the largest city in a mountain resorts area. The old city is very well preserved and is best seen by taking the cable-car to the top of Tâmpa Mountain.Temperatures from May to September fluctuate around 23 °C (73 °F). Brașov benefits from a winter tourism season centered on winter sports and other activities. Poiana Brașov is the most popular Romanian ski resort and an important tourist center preferred by many tourists from other European states.
The city also has several restaurants that serve local as well as international cuisine (e.g. Hungarian and Chinese). Some of these are situated in the city center.
The Brașov local transport network is well-developed, with around 50 bus and trolleybus lines. There is also a regular bus line serving Poiana Brașov, a nearby winter resort. All are operated by RAT Brașov. Because of its central location, the Brașov railway station is one of the busiest stations in Romania with trains to/from most destinations in the country served by rail.
The construction of Braşov Airport was initiated by Intelcan Canada on April 15, 2008. Although construction was planned to be finalized in 24 to 30 months, works have lagged and there is no term by which it will be operational. The project consists of a terminal capable of handling 1 million passengers per year and a 2,800-metre-long (9,200-foot) runway. The A3 highway is also planned to pass the city. However, there is no foreseeable date for starting construction.Wikipedia

Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) | Places to visit in Romania
Bran, Romania. The Bran Gorge, one of the most important trans-Carpathian passages, has had a dynamic history. Its story has been characterized by two major components: the trade routes of its crossroads, and the recurring military invasions that utilized them.
A natural amphitheater, guarded from the East by the Bucegi Mountains and from the West by the Piatra Craiului Massive, the Bran Gorge offered, due to its concave space, a wide panorama both to Burzenland (Ţara Bârsei), and to the hills and valley of Moeciu.
Two Castles in One Day is a small-group full-day tour from Bucharest to Transylvania on a scenic route through the Carpathian Mountains to discover two beautiful Romanian castles (Peles Royal Castle & Bran Dracula’s Castle) and the charming city of Brasov.

#Transylvania has long occupied the darker recesses of human imagination. Its fog-draped mountains and medieval castles inspired gothic novelist Bram Stoker, which resulted in the creation of his greatest villain, Count Dracula. His famous literary work caused an influx of tourism into this time-forgotten part of the world.
However, travelers who #explore Transylvania’s stirring landscapes #discover more than just shadowy folklore. After enduring a long and bloody tug of war, Transylvania is now made up of a tapestry of cultures. Admire the shimmering Hungarian murals adorning the walls of the Targu Mures Cultural Palace. Roam among the crumbling ruins of Rasnov Fortress, where the Teutonic Knights defended against Turkish and Tartar invasion. And of course, wander the dark passageways and windswept ramparts of Bran Castle, Stoker’s inspiration for Dracula’s clifftop lair.
Whatever your pace, a #vacation to Transylvania will be sure to leave you completely captivated with this part of Eastern Europe.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Visiting the transylvanian city of Sibiu | Euromaxx city

Lacul de Smarald - RACOȘ - Emerald Lake (Brasov County, Transylvania, Romania)
Enable English subtitle !
Emerald Lake is one of the three attractions of the Racos Geological Reserve, along with the Basalt Columns (or the Basalt Organ, a monument of nature since 1960) and the Racos Volcano (Lunar landscape in a basalt scoria quarry). The lake was formed by the accumulation of precipitations on the bottom of the former Brazi quarry from which the basalt was exploited. The depression area of the quarry has a size of about 400 x 200m, and the depth of water can even exceed 10m. Above the water mirror in gorgeous green-and-blue colors opens beautiful tens of meters of geology pages. Around the lake, on the lower part, massive basalts are issued more quietly during the first stage of activity of Racos Volcano (broad sense). Very interesting, even columnar separations can be noted, and in the western bank there are clear polygonal shapes representing the ends of the columns formed by the contraction and cracking of the basaltic lava in the time of cooling. Of course, representative of these polygonal columns are the Basalt Columns located in another nearby quarry. Above the basalt there are parallel sedimentary textures, sometimes crossed, marking the second stage of activity of the volcano, the explosive phase and finally the volcanic-sedimentary one. After the basalt exploatation has ceased, nature came into its own right, appearing aquatic vegetation and even fish. Above the rock walls the eagles fly, and on hot summer days tourists enter the lake, taking advantage of the coolness of the emerald crystalline waters.
The Best Christmas destinations in Romania
The Best Christmas destination in Romania | Cea mai frumoasa destinatie de craciun in Romania
Once again it is the season to be jolly! Only a few days till Christmas and I am really pumped about this one. I haven't been home for Christmas for the past 3 years and I missed a bit of a snow, carol nights, good old friends and being home with family, so really looking forward to it.
I have seen the brilliant Christmas market in Birmingham, Paris, Colmar and a few other locations, but I wonder what Christmas markets and Winter Wonderlands has Romania to offer. This is exactly what I have been trying to find out in a 7 day trip in 7 locations around Transylvania.
There are many beautiful places in Romania with great winter locations and Christmas traditions, but for now I explored only seven locations in Transylvania, including my hometown.
Here is a glimpse into my trip, follow my here on blog, subscribe to my YouTube Channel, follow me on my Instagram as for the next couple of days I will post videos and photos about each one of the locations. Thank you.
Enjoy!!!

The hidden gem of Romania - Sighisoara - a medieval citadel
Finally I am in Sighisoara, Romania, the birth town of Vlad the Impaler, a.k.a Dracula and the most preserved , the most beautiful medieval citadel in Europe. A 12th century citadel built by the Transylvanian Saxons, a perfectly intact medieval city that you cannot find anywhere else.
It is a travel back in time, walking on the same streets as our fellow knights did centuries back. Touching the same colorful walls touched by Dracula himself when he played lapte gros si smantanos(it's a stupid outdoor game we used to play when I was a kid) during his childhood - I don't know, I'm just saying, you never know. :)
After a painful journey in a smelly train from Sibiu to Sighisoara, it was a relief and a pleasure to explore and walk on the streets of this amazing medieval citadel. The weather was a bit gloomy at first, but later on it turned into a brilliant snowy day, set the perfect mood for Christmas.
The citadel holds colorful medieval houses, towers, churches and great restaurants with traditional dishes. During the year there are medieval events and festivals organized in the citadel.
For cheap as £30 you can spend a night at a any of the cute inns. They are nicely decorated in the same medieval tone. You can walk around the citadel on and on and not get bored of it. A great experience is to walk up to the church on the hill through the covered staircase which was built in 1654 and hold around 300 steps. Later on in the 1800s it was amended and reduced the steps to 178, but still keeps the Saxon architecture appearance.
I am highly recommending this place to anyone who is planning to visit Romania, it is unique. I am planning to come back during the summer and spend more time in Sighisoara.
My next stop will in at Brasov and Poiana Brasov, the Wonder Winterland of Romania.
Thank you for stepping by and travel more!
