Siem Reap Travel Guide
Siem Reap lies amidst the heartland of the ancient Khmer Empire, but modern-day Cambodia is far removed from those glory days. A look into it’s recent dark past gives a stark contrast with it’s hopeful present. Here are a few highlights::
+ The Khmer Rouge - 0:52
+ Khmer New Year - 2:09
+ The Moon Residence and Spa - 4:04
+ Pub Street - 5:44
+ Siem Reap Old Market - 6:10
+ Angkor Wat - 7:54
+ Angkor Thom - 9:30
+ Prayers from a Buddhist monk - 10:22
+ Khmer Stuffed Frog - 11:01
These are the essentials to Siem Reap shot completely on my iPhone X with Filmic Pro.

How To Travel CAMBODIA On A SHOESTRING: Siem Reap Travel GUIDE 2019
CAMBODIA TRAVEL GUIDE - Here's how to travel through Siem Reap and some general tips for traveling in Cambodia. I stayed mainly in Siem Reap and saw the temples at the Angkor Wat complex, which is what almost EVERYONE who comes to Siem Reap and Cambodia in general does. Really amazing places and I have some tips for moving through South East Asia and Siem Reap.
I actually wrote a HUGE blog post about South East Asia which you might find interesting here:
I spent 3 months backpacking through South East Asia. The countries I visited were Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. I would say these videos show how you can do Southeast Asia on a shoestring as we went to very budget friendly places. This video is a mixture between a backpacking vlog and a street walking video. I like to show what it’s REALLY like in the places I visit.

Things to Know before Visiting Siem Reap, Cambodia (Travel Guide in Siem Reap)
It was unreal seeing Angkor Wat, one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Visiting Siem Reap, Cambodia had made me realize to appreciate more what I have instead of complaining for things that I don't have. People there are relatable and nice. There is not much difference when I compare Philippines from how people look like and there ways of life. I realized how blessed Filipinos are with resources we're not even aware with like water etc. #siemreap#cambodia#filipinavlogger #asia

The wonderful and warm city of Cambodia! Travelling from Bangkok, Thailand to the Thailand-Cambodia border in Aranyaprathet (Thailand) and Poi Pet (Cambodia), I experienced travelling to Siem Reap by train and private van. We are victimized by scammer, thank God we're escaped that guy.
Amazing. delicious, and cheapfood; partying in the famous Pubstreet; great history lessons; and fantastic temple hopping to Cambodia's UNESCO World Heritage Site that was built in 12th Century, and the World's Largest Religious Monument - the Angkor Wat!

Coming to Cambodia we were not sure if we want to spend that much money on the entrance fee for Angkor. We are glad we did and we are also happy that we decided to go all or nothing and hired this amazing TukTuk driver Mr. Bean for one day (9 hours in total). Best 30 Dollars we spent on a guide ever!

One Night to Party in Siem Reap (Pub Street Nightlife, Cambodia)
The traveling continues on this Indochina SouthEast Asia tour as we explore the party scene and nightlife of Siem Reap. We take a tuktuk to the party central in Pub Street where you can enjoy food, drinks, restaurants, and the clubs of Cambodia. I try tasting scorpions, drinking snake wine, and eating a crocodile burger on this adventurous night. Filled with backpackers and foreigners, Pub Street is where the people go to party. Vlog #234

SIEM REAP TRAVEL VLOG DAY 1 & 2 | ricca del rosario
Filming date: September 22-23, 2018
We find Siem Reap a really happy place! It's very easy to roam around and it's not expensive compared to other countries we've been to. They accept 2 currencies, the Cambodian Real and US Dollar which makes it easier for us Filipinos. We bring US dollars when we travel right? So no need to change! Plus, it's easier to convert and compute when we buy. If you have questions about traveling in Siem Reap, please feel free to ask :) There'll be 2 more related vlogs coming so stay tuned.

Why Angkor Wat (Siem Reap) is a must see | CAMBODIA
Another one of our life bucket list stops the Angkor Wat temples in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Needless to say we had an absolutely incredible time visiting the Khmer Hindu and Buddhist temple ruins.
Things started off in Phnom Penh where we caught the Cambodia Post VIP Van for $11 USD each to get to Siem Reap. This is the site we booked our Cambodia Post VIP Van tickets from:
They have a variety of routes and departure times. We found Cambodia Post VIP Van to be a pretty cheap and convenient way getting from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, then using a tuk tuk for the remainder of our journey to get to our accommodation.
The ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap via Cambodia Post VIP Van took about 3 hours in total including a quick lunch stop and there were tuk tuks waiting around for us to get to our final destination (our Airbnb accommodation in Siem Reap) that ended up being just a few minutes drive away.
Our accommodation in Siem Reap was an urban studio located in the peaceful Kandal Village. The place was clean, stylish and comfortable. It's situated above Khmer 652 - a Cambodian restaurant that serves very delicious Khmer cuisine with super lovely staff. There are a handful of other cafes and restaurants nearby as well as local craft shops too.
Khmer 652 is owned by the Airbnb hosts so you also get a 10% discount for dining there. Our favourite meals during our time in Siem Reap were at Khmer 652 as well as Crane just at the back of their alley. We loved the location of our accommodation in Siem Reap because it's also in close walking distance to a supermarket, the river bank and the very lively Pub Street.
After a quick haircut and a browse around Kandal Village we got some rest before heading over to the Angkor Wat temple complex the next day. We opted to get a personal tour guide which turned out to be one of the best decisions ever.
Sarak was our tuk tuk driver and Angkor Wat travel guide, recommended to us from a fellow YouTuber friend. Sarak took us all around the amazing temples in the Angkor Wat temple complex, visiting the lesser-known and secret quiet areas (as well as the main temples too). He even took it upon himself to help us take some beautiful photos with our phone during our entire time together too. He was a driver, travel guide and photographer all in one!
Get in touch with Sarak:
meamsarak@gmail.com
+855 92 394 994
If you're wondering how to get to Angkor Wat, we definitely recommend going via tuk tuk with Sarak to enjoy the open air ride and if you want to go to the quieter spots like we did, simply let him know.
We bought a 3-day multi-pass to visit the Angkor Wat temple complex. First day we had Sarak and on our subsequent visits we had Mr Bean (Sarak's business partner) take us when we filmed Peter's Part 2 for his how to retire early series and on the final visit we went via Grab tuk tuk ourselves just to Angkor Wat. We were in Siem Reap visiting Angkor Wat during November. Btw, make sure to keep your Angkor Wat tickets with you as this gets checked at various entry points into the temple complex.
We visited the following temples:
- West Gate
- Angkor Thom
- Preah Khan
- Ta Prohm (also known as the Tomb Raider temple)
- Bayon (and then finally...)
- Angkor Wat
We also enjoyed a breath taking sunset away from the crowds at Srah Sang.
If you're enjoying our videos please remember to hit that thumbs up and leave us a comment, we really enjoy hearing from our viewers :) Plus if you're new to our channel, we hope you'll subscribe and turn on notifications so you can stay up to date with all our latest videos each week. CAMBODIA SIEM REAP and ANGKOR WAT Travel Guide
#siemreap #angkorwat #cambodia
Siem Reap has got to be one of our favorite places in all of Cambodia and maybe event all of Southeast Asia! The history is vibrant and made tangible through the artifacts found in the Khamer and Angkor Museum, and of course the glorious ruins found in the renowned Angkor Archeological Park.
Price of Admission:
1 Day: $37
3 Day $62
Week Long $72
Note: If you buy a three day pass or a week long pass you must use those three days consecutively based on the printed validity date on the ticket itself. If you are buying a ticket for one day, make sure to specify which day you will be attending the park.
Important: You cannot buy the tickets onsite. You must use the offsite ticket office to purchase tickets. Do not attempt to buy tickets from 3rd parties. Only tickets purchased at the Angkor Ticket Office are valid to enter the park. Ticket office details and location can be found here:
Other Details:
The name Siem Reap can be translated to mean Defeat of Siam (siem in Khmer), and is commonly taken as a reference to an incident in the centuries-old conflict between the Siamese and Khmer kingdoms, although this is probably apocryphal. According to oral tradition, King Ang Chan (1516–1566) had named the town Siem Reap, meaning the defeat of Siam, after he repulsed an army sent to invade Cambodia by the Thai King Maha Chakkraphat in 1549.However, scholars such as Michael Vickery consider this derivation to be simply a modern folk etymology, and maintain that while the names Siem Reap and Chenla (old Chinese name for Cambodia) may perhaps be related, the actual origin of the name is unknown.
Pub Street in Siem Reap- (See xtra footage in this video for a preview of Pub Street)
In reality, surviving historic sources make this folk tale appear very unlikely, since they date the decline of the Angkor kingdom to more than a century before this, when a military expedition from Ayutthaya captured and sacked Angkor Wat, which began a long period of vassal rule over Cambodia. The 1431 capture coincided with the decline of Angkor, though the reasons behind its abandonment are not clear. They may have included environmental changes and failings in the Khmer infrastructure.
From the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries, infighting among the Khmer nobility led to periodic intervention and domination by both of Cambodia's more powerful neighbors, Vietnam and Siam. Siem Reap, along with Battambang (Phra Tabong) and Sisophon, major cities in the northwest of Cambodia, was under Siamese administration and the provinces were collectively known as Inner Cambodia from 1795 until 1907, when they were ceded to French Indochina. During the 18th century, under the rule of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, it was known as Nakhorn Siam (Siam's city).
Siem Reap's recent history is coloured by the horror of the brutal Khmer Rouge regime. Since Pol Pot's death in 1998, however, relative stability and a rejuvenated tourist industry have revived the city and province.
Royal Residence, Siem Reap
Siem Reap now serves as a small gateway town to the world heritage site of Angkor Wat. It is a vibrant town with modern hotels and restaurants, still managing to preserve much of its culture and traditions. In recent years, the city has regularly ranked in the top ten for Best Destination lists produced by entities such as TripAdvisor, Wanderlust magazine and Travel+Leisure

Siem Reap Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Siem Reap in Cambodia.
Siem Reap is a relatively small town 315 kilometres north of Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia. Here, growing tourism has created a boomtown because Siem Reap is close to Angkor, the ancient capital of a huge and mysterious jungle realm.
The Temples of Angkor are the remains of various religious buildings that were built by more than ten kings of the Khmer realm between the 7th and 16th centuries A.D.
The gigantic roots of kapok trees cling to the moss-covered walls of the temple complex and everything is dominated by the encroachment of nature. The monastery was once home to 5,000 including more than 2,000 monks and more than 600 female dancers who played an important part in the sacred rituals and ceremonies of that time.
The fishermen on the tributaries of the Tonle Sap live peacefully together in large families. They are not particularly interested in commerce or trade as their lives are dominated by Buddhism.
In the Middle Ages, Angkor was the largest city in the world. The majestic silence amid the temples and dense jungle vegetation seems to highlight Angkor's immortal splendor and its magnificent contribution to Asian history and culture.
