Visit St. Petersburg, Russia | A must travel destination! | Shore Excursion |
** Hello everybody! This video is about our shore excursion in St. Petersburg Russia. In our 2 day stay in Russia, we chose the excursion of going to the famous Hermitage Museum and the Russian Tsars palaces.
St. Petersburg was our favorite destination from our Baltic Sea cruise. Not only is this country clean, their architectures are very admirable, and unique! Very different from other countries in northern Europe that we've seen!
** Immigration **
The immigration was a bit slow going out from the ship. They're really strict checking pages by pages of your passport before they can stamp your visa and let your through. It took about 30 minutes to an hour to get into Russia from the immigration process. After than that though on our second day, it was faster.
During this time. Odin was only 10 months old. We made sure we packed snacks with us and made sure we brought our ergo baby with us because there's going to be a lot of walking with this tour. So far, Odin tolerated the tours. There are times that he was cranky but most of the time he was napping (which we were glad).

This two full day tour combination lets you enjoy the best of St. Petersburg: Catherine's Palace, Hermitage Museum, Peterhof Grand Palace and a city tour.
Day 1: Your tour takes you outside of the city to the town of Pushkin (former Tsar's Village) where you'll visit Catherine's Palace. Peter the Great presented this estate to his wife Catherine in 1710. It was used as the summer residence of the Royal Family. Its grandiose, white-and-gold facade stretches 978 feet. You'll walk through a series of magnificent rooms, including the famous the Great Hall and the Amber Room. The town of Pushkin is famous for the man it was named after -- Alexander Pushkin, the most celebrated poet in the country. Continue to one of the dining venues for lunch, and then drive to the Hermitage Museum, the largest art museum in Russia and the most prestigious museum in the world. The Hermitage Museum occupies the Winter Palace, the winter residence of the Russian Tsars, and four more buildings.
Day 2: Begin with a transfer to Peterhof, the town of palaces, fountains and parks, which was built by Peter the Great to rival Versailles. It lies on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland. The Grand Palace is known as the most brilliant of all the summer residences of the Russian Tsars. The layout of the 300-acre park and spectacular fountains was designed by Peter himself. The Grand Cascade consists of three waterfalls, an avenue of 64 fountains and 37 gilded statues. After your visit of the palace interior, continue with a one hour to drive back to the city to enjoy your lunch. The next stop is the Spit of Vasilievsky Island, where you'll enjoy views of the city. Then you'll have a tour of St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, where you'll be surrounded by marble columns and glittering chandeliers. The tour continues along the Neva embankment, and drives along the Nevsky Prospect, towards your ship.
* Price reflected on NCL.com is inclusive of the Pre-Book and Save offer.
Note: This tour is not recommended for persons with walking or climbing difficulties. There are long walking distances through the Gardens of Pushkin and Peterhof Park. Catherine's Palace and Peterhof Grand Palace is not wheelchair accessible due to the steep staircase and no elevators. There is extensive walking between different parts of the Hermitage. Expect congestion and waiting at attractions. Visit to inside of Peterhof Palace is approximately one hour and interior rooms only, fountains can be seen from a distance. Photo/video is prohibited inside the Grand Peterhof Palace. Tour sequence may vary and depends on the museum's availability. The Russian government charges a nominal fee to use your camera and video inside various palaces and museums of St. Petersburg. Fees are payable to your guide and correct change is required. Current information will be provided on board as prices are subject to change. Flash photography is prohibited in the Hermitage.
Touring St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2006
Record of an excursion of the Costa Atlantica cruiser passengers to this former capital of Russia. The bridge across river Neva brought us to the other site to the cathedral in which the murdered Romanov family is entombed and revered. Schoolboys were well-dressed because it was their first school day. In another clip I have more of the paintings of the Hermitage. My foster son, the boy in in red, is seen dancing in the lunchroom, but sadly, he died three months afterwards of skin cancer. Camera: Michael Rogge

First Thoughts on Russia | We Spent 48 Hours in St Petersburg, Russia
After our insane Russian visa nightmare we are so glad to arrive here in St Petersburg...these are our first thoughts on the country.
Tour we are on in Russia with On the Go Tours:
We have 48 hours in St Petersburg so we are going to show you as much as possible to do in this incredible city which started off by working out the Metro systems...going to the deepest one in Russia - Admiralteyskaya station. It's so cost effective to use the Metro system, less than a $1 and there's no zones - jump on and just jump off when you are done.
Our first stop was obviously coffee, so we went to Pyshechnaya which is a cafe set up like an old soviet style restaurant where all they sell is cheap coffee and one style of donut.
Next up we headed to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood which is a breathtaking church best described as a gingerbread house - and if you think outside looks stunning - wait till you go inside and see the 1000's of mosaics lining the walls.
To find the best views in St Petersburg we recommend you head to St Isaac's Cathedral.
If you are looking for some of the best museums in the world - head to the Hermitage Museum (the Winter Palace) and also head to Catherines Summer Palace - both very grand and opulent.
If you want to try some Russian food - we recommend Советское кафе Квартирка - which is an old soviet style restaurant set up like an old soviet home. Amazing food - we recommend you try
We Tried Russian Food in St Petersburg
- Vareniki (Potatoes & Mushroom dumpling)
- Cherry Vareniki
- Pirzhok Pie (cabbage and egg)
- Rasstegai Pie (fish)
- Napoleon Cake with Custard
- Ukrainian Cottage Cheese Pancake
and finally 2 end your 2 days in St Pettersburg - head on a river boat to see the best views around the city :)

ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA ????????
■ STALINGRAD 2017:
■St. Petersburg, Russia's former capital, is Europe's 3rd largest city. I spent a few days there checking out the fantastic art collections and museums the city has to offer. The town is massive and I didn't get to see everything I wanted to.
In the film I show inside the winter palace, the most beautiful church i've ever seen plus some interactions with some nice Russian girls on their way to a disco.

10 Best Places to Visit in Russia - Travel Video
Russia, once the largest and most powerful member of the former USSR, remains a fascinating country to visit. It is a country of contrasts, from great subtropical beaches to bitterly cold winter regions in the north. The east may have fewer people, but its lovely cities are among the most interesting in Russia and can hold their own against the west. Russia is steeped in history everywhere a traveler goes, from vicious battles to great classical music and literature. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Russia:
The Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral , St Petersburg, Russia (Ultra 4K)
The Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral , St Petersburg, Russia
The Peter and Paul Cathedral is located inside the Peter and Paul Fortress along the Neva River in St. Petersburg. It is the oldest building in St. Petersburg and the second tallest after the television tower.
In the early 20th century, it was still used as a prison by the tsarist government.
Today it has been adapted as the central and most important part of the State Museum of Saint Petersburg History. The museum has gradually become virtually the sole owner of the fortress building, except the structure occupied by the Saint Petersburg Mint.
Best of St. Petersburg, Russia: Catherine the Great's Winter Palace, The Hermitage
The Hermitage is one of the finest and largest museums in the world.
We stopped in St. Petersburg, Russia, during our Baltic Cruise aboard Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas. The museum was closed to the public that day, so our tour group had the entire building to ourselves!
