Indocamper Van - Indonesia
It was 2 days of an amazing journey on a camping car. I traveled about 400 kilometers through the mountainous regions and tea plantations. I cooked food at the campfire. I was drinking mate and slept in the caravan. I watched the sunrise in the fog and walked in tea plantations.

Kayo-kayo Solo - Yogyakarta, Indonesia [shot with iphone]
Trio trip to Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia before heading to Bali. As usual, all shots are from my iphone SE and might be 1 or 2 shots from my huawei mate 9. Moments are meant to be captured and photos are too overrated haha. So this is not quite the solo trip, eventho im heading to Bali alone.

JOGJAKARTA : A Trip To Home
We took a trip to a place closed to our hearts.
-------
Jogjakarta has its own charm and warmth, a hometown feeling and friendliness atmosphere.
.
.
.
From Stasiun Senen to Stasiun Yogyakarta
.
From a dawn walk in Malioboro to a festive night in Alun-Alun Kidul (plus attempting Laku Masangin ritual),
.
From a trendy hangout place to a stargazing sidewalk in front of local angkringan
.
.
.
Where traditional and modern harmonizes,
No wonder, anyone would like to go back to this nostalgic place.
Go take your turn to visit Jogjakarta!

Indonesia vlog Part 1: Purwokerto & Yogyakarta | AXJournal Ep.15
Been to few of the best and Beautiful places in Indonesia particularly in Java Island. I went to visit my uni's mate at purwokerto. Is a small town at central java, 3 hours train ride away feom yogyakarta. Alot of yummy food in that city. Eating nonstop for the whole journey.
And i went to Yogyakarta to celebrate Vesak at Borobudur Temple. Few hours of praying at Candi Mendut, and walk together with the people about 1hour walk to Borobudur Temple. There, the magical thing will happen at night. Releasing thousands of lanterns into the sky is just so magical.
Amazing experience and i enjoy the food so much that i forgot to snap video for the vlog. Been eating delicious local food like literally throughout the journey.
I'll definitely will be back to those places again. I will.

Jogjakarta Lads Birthday Trip: The Borobudur, Prambanan, and Mt. Merbabu Edition
Writing this on the flight back from an epic motorbike trip with my mates David and Matt to Jogjakarta (“Jogja”), the ancient Indonesian capital which is ringed by volcanic mountains and miles upon miles of farmland. Together we explored, adventured, hiked, and laughed across this beautiful part of Java for the past few days.
(My birthday was the perfect excuse to get us all together!)
A couple notes on some of the more well-known places we went:
First stop was Borobudur about 90 minutes outside of Jogja to the NE. We woke up at 5am, activated (Jayaaa!), and rode out on our bikes in the early morning sunshine. Sticking to the backroads we were soon cruising thru the countryside and little Javanese towns to reach Borobudur.
Borobudur is a stunning place, whose history is fascinating as well. It’s one of the largest Buddhist temple in the world! Sadly tho it’s not really treated as a religious shrine - more a tourist attraction that’s only worth gawking at.
What it’s meant to evoke, how one is supposed to circle each floor understanding the Buddhist path to non-attachment, how the architecture changes as you go up in testament to impermanence, etc. isn’t very well-conveyed, and so the powerful intent of the creators is lost. Leaving afterwards and being led thru a shopping mall was just….sad. Imagine if a legendary church, mosque, synagogue, etc. that was over a century old, an engineering marvel, and a UNESCO World Heritage site were treated the same way? People would be up in arms I think.
Before cruising over to Prambanan for sunset, we spent the day catching up over coffee, visiting a couple other recommended spots around Borobudur (another Buddhist monastery and an art house/gallery), and snagging some much-needed power naps in the lobby of a friendly hotel as the 5am wake up caught up to each of us.
(One of the reasons Matt flew from Tennessee back to Indonesia when he did was for this trip. He’d been out of Bali for the past few months back in TN - plus Dave and Matt get along “like a house on fire”, to use one of my favorite phrases of Dave’s - so it was great for the three of us to catch up face-to-face.)
Prambanan was also gorgeous, especially at sunset. It’s one of the largest Hindu temples in SE Asia, and it was a bit less touristy than Borobudur. Dave and I were looking at them, and it’s hard to imagine how these were built. The time it took, the scope of the projects, and just the sheer audacity of them. This was the “Age of Divine Kings” tho, so if a ruler decreed that a temple should be built to honor a particular god then whatever resources it took were tossed into the mix. After all, who are you or I to question whether or not such a temple is a good idea if you believe your ruler is a direct descendent of God…or even God reincarnate? That was the sort of question facing these people (at least those who were not slaves), and it’s easier to understand how the free ones had the will to build such things a thousand years ago.
The next day we cruised up to Selo, a mountain town situated in the valley between Mt. Merapi and Mt. Merbabu about two hours north of Jogja. We found a friendly local guide who rented us a tent, sleeping bags, ground pads, headlamps, etc. and agreed to lead us up Mt. Merbabu in time for sunrise. I love hiking, and sunrises at the top of mountains with friends is just awesome!
In about 18 hours we covered a good junk of ground, something like 12 miles and 367 flights of stairs to reach the 10,318 ft summit in time for sunrise and back. (Fair warning: I’m a nerd and checked on Apple Health about the distance traveled haha…)
We lucked out and had clear, really nice weather at the top. Poor Matt tho - he developed blisters on both feet in his trekking boots and had to hike most of it in sandals…! Regardless we had a blast. Plus I’m sure we solved some world problems along the way as we rambled about just about everything under the sun (and moon, since we started the summit ascent at 3am).
#TLDR: A great way to kick off 36. :) And go to Jogja, it’s a hidden gem here in Indonesia with a lot fewer tourists than Bali gets!
