E01, SRI-LANKA I: Roadtrip
The Southern Expressway is Sri Lanka's first E Class highway. The 126-kilometre-long (78 mi) highway links the Sri Lankan capital Colombo with Galle and Matara, major cities in the south of the island.
The extension of the expressway to Hambantota was inaugurated on 4 July 2015. The extension will be four lanes (with allowance of further two lanes in future), the cost of US $180M being funded by the Exim Bank of China.
On 10 August 2015, a Highway Traffic Management system was inaugurated and currently covers the length of the expressway, including the Outer-Circular Expressway.

Sri Lanka (from the Sanskrit Venerable Island[citation needed]), officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (pronounced /ˌʃriːˈlɑːŋkɑː/, Sinhala: , Tamil: இலங்கை; known as Ceylon (/sɪˈlɒn/) before 1972 and as Taprobane (/təˈprɒbəniː/) in ancient times), is an island country in South Asia, located about 31 kilometres (19.3 mi) off the southern coast of India. It is home to around twenty million people.
As a result of its location in the path of major sea routes, Sri Lanka is a strategic naval link between West Asia and South East Asia.[citation needed] It has also been a center of the Buddhist religion and culture from ancient times as well as being a bastion of Hinduism.[8] The Sinhalese community forms the majority of the population; Tamils, who are concentrated in the north and east of the island, form the largest ethnic minority. Other communities include Moors, Burghers, Kaffirs, Malays and the indigenous Wanniyala-Aetto people.
The country is famous for the production and export of tea, coffee, coconuts, rubber and cinnamon - which is native to the country.[9] The natural beauty of Sri Lanka's tropical forests, beaches and landscape, as well as its rich cultural heritage, make it a world famous tourist destination.[citation needed] The island also boasts the first female Prime Minister in the world, Sirimavo Bandaranaike.[10]
After over two thousand years of rule by local kingdoms, parts of Sri Lanka were colonized by Portugal and the Netherlands beginning in the 16th century, before control of the entire country was ceded to the British Empire in 1815.[citation needed] During World War II, Sri Lanka served as an important base for Allied forces in the fight against the Japanese Empire.[11] A nationalist political movement arose in the country in the early 20th century with the aim of obtaining political independence, which was eventually granted by the British after peaceful negotiations in 1948.
Every year on or about April 13 Sinhala and Tamil people celebrate Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival, and Muslims celebrate Ramadan. Esala Perahera (A-suh-luh peh-ruh-ha-ruh) is the grand festival of Esala held in Sri Lanka. It is very grand with elegant costumes. Happening in July or August in Kandy, it has become a unique symbol of Sri Lanka. It is a Buddhist festival consisting of dances and richly decorated elephants. There are fire-dances, whip-dances, Kandian dances and various other cultural dances. The elephants are usually adorned with lavish garments. The festival ends with the traditional 'diya-kepeema'. The elephant is paraded around the city bearing the tooth of Buddha. However the new year for tamils have been established as being on January 14 from this year.
Most Sri Lankan cities and towns are connected by the Sri Lanka Railways, the state-run national railway operator. The first railway line was inaugurated on April 26, 1867, linking Colombo with Kandy. The total length of Sri Lankan roads exceeds 11,000 kilometres (6,840 mi), with a vast majority of them being paved. The government has launched several highway projects to bolster the economy and national transport system, including the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway, the Colombo-Kandy (Kadugannawa) Expressway, the Colombo-Padeniya Expressway and the Outer Circular Highway to ease Colombo's traffic congestion. There are also plans to build a major bridge connecting Jaffna to the Indian city of Chennai.
The Ceylon Transport Board is the state-run agency responsible for operating public bus services across the island. Sri Lanka also maintains 430 kilometres (270 mi) of inland waterways. It has three deep-water ports at Colombo, Trincomalee and Galle. There is also a smaller, shallower harbour at Kankesanturai, north of Jaffna. There are twelve paved airports and two unpaved airstrips in the country. SriLankan Airlines is the official national carrier, partly owned and operated by Emirates Airline. It was voted the best airline in South Asia by Skytrax. SriLankan Air Taxi is the smaller, domestic arm of the national carrier, while Expo Aviation and Lankair are private airline companies. The Bandaranaike International Airport is the country's only international airport, located in Katunayaka, 22 kilometres (14 mi) north of Colombo.

Had to go out with one of my favorite meals, hoppers! And it was so great to be able to have such a loving and kind chef make them for me.
From the mutton curry to the hoppers and even the sambal were all just out of this world.

This Was All Less Than $2!!! Authentic SRI LANKAN Breakfast For CHEAP + Late Night CHEESE KOTTU!
The last day with Nellum.
Still my favorite places to eat, Hela Bojun. Government owned places, that give a clean and safe place for women to run a little space and be able to make all the profit. The food is cheap, delicious, and 100% pure Sri Lankan.
Next up we went to an old village that was so much fun to walk around and explore.
Then we had some really nice curry rice at Nellum Kole for dishes tthat are really hard to find unless at a home or in a village.
Taking a break we headed to Nellum’s house to get a little tea time snack. She really outdid herself though as she made constructed a huge tea time snack. With various things from cookies, cakes, sandwiches, and more. I snacked a little too much.
Now, back to my first video where we went to Pilawoos. I had one of the greatest things ever, Kottu. I loved it so much. Sauce, high heat, cheese, and just lots of roti!! Not to forget the massive amount they give you for a serving.
Thanks again to Nellum for taking time out of her busy schedule to help me out!

Colombo Travel Guide - Sri Lanka Astonishing Experience
Colombo Travel Guide - Sri Lanka Astonishing Experience
Colombo (Sinhala: කොළඹ, Tamil: கொழும்பு) is the largest city and the financial and commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Colombo remains both the commercial and financial capital of Sri Lanka even after the administrative capital has been moved to Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, a suburb east of the city.
Colombo is a huge, sprawling city, which can be visited any time of year due to its tropical climate. The traffic can feel somewhat overwhelming at first but it is organised and much more manageable when compared to other major cities of South and Southeast Asia. Colombo as a city has been discussed in historical records for over two millenia. The city boasts an incredible level of cultural diversity that can be experienced through its eclectic architecture and cuisine. Sri Lankan are very friendly, highly educated and worldly. In Colombo you will experience tradition blending with progressive values with English being spoken widely.
Getting around by Tuk-Tuk (Three wheeler, Tri-shaw) is generally the most convenient option in Colombo. There is a good, cheap public bus service but you need to know the route number of the bus that you would have to take to your destination. Train services are available to some of the main cities from Colombo but they are infrequent.
Like many cities, Colombo's urban area extends well beyond the boundaries of a single local authority, encompassing other municipal and urban councils such as Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Municipal Council, Dehiwala Mount Lavinia Municipal Council, Kolonnawa Urban Council, Kaduwela Municipal Council and Kotikawatte Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha. The main city is home to a majority of Sri Lanka's corporate offices, restaurants and entertainment venues.[11] Famous landmarks in Colombo include Galle Face Green, Viharamahadevi Park, Beira Lake, Colombo Racecourse, Planetarium, University of Colombo, Mount Lavinia beach, Nelum Pokuna Theatre, Colombo Lotus Tower as well as the National Museum.

Colombo's cheap lodgings in the center of town, apart from the famous YMCA (containing a gay bathhouse), are mostly concentrated along the road opposite the Colombo Fort Railway Station. Many rooms are available but with shared bathrooms starting around 900 LKR. Buy a lunch packet from street stands practically anywhere in the city. Typically, it will be a filling meal of rice and vegetables for about LKR120. Around Fort Railway Station there are several local restaurants with the sign Hotel, these actually are restaurants and not hotels, this usage of the word Hotel seems to be unique to Sri Lanka and India.
( Colombo - Sri Lanka ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Colombo . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Colombo - Sri Lanka

Travel Sri Lanka Worlds End
World's End is located in Horton Plains National Park of Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. It is a sheer cliff, with a drop of about 4,000 feet (1,200 m).[1] It is one of the most visited parts of Horton Plains National Park,[2] and a key tourist attraction place in Sri Lanka.
1 km away from the main cliff is a smaller cliff with a 1,000 feet (300 m) drop, known as Small World's End. The Indian Ocean, which is 81 km away to the south, can be seen on clear days.
Worst Driving Road in SRI LANKA - Peradeniya to Kottawa in 20 mins [DASH CAM]
I happened to drive on the worst driving road in Sri Lanka from Peradeniya to Kottawa on the other day and it was an absolute nightmare. I had a 20 mins break into the half of the journey and drove the rest continuously. It was a real pain to pass through several towns as the traffic is terrific. And sub-skilled drivers make the rest of the journey awful as they are either lane-hoggers or absolute maniacs on the road. On an interesting note though, Axio/Corolla drivers are the best while TukTuk, Prius/Aqua drivers are the lane-hoggers. Almost all Van drivers are absolute maniacs while Bus drivers are murderers. Overall experience - Horrendous!!
