Travel Guide to Kenya
In this film Wild Frontiers, Jonny Bealby, explains about tourism in Kenya. Here is the text...
Jonny here, right now I am at Borana Ranch, high on the Laikipia Plateau, in the lee of Mount Kenya. And in this short film I am going to talk about tourism in Kenya.
If I asked what's the first thing you think about when turning your mind to travel in this colourful East African country, you'd almost certainly say wildlife. And of course you'd be right as over 80 percent of holidays here will have a wildlife element.
From the Marsabit National Park in the north, to the Masai Mara and Amboseli National Parks in the south, the planes of Kenya are teeming with wildlife or all shapes and sizes offering, along with its neighbour Tanzania, the best place in the world to view game. And if you throw in Mount Kenya and the Aberdares, the Laikipia Plateau and the Matthews Range, the Lamu Archipelago and the rest of the Kenyan coast, and some of the most spectacular and evocative accommodation anywhere on earth, then here in Kenya you have a true world class travel experience.
The Masai Mara is probably the most famous national park. Covering more than 500sqm, the Mara is universally renowned for its exceptional populations of lion, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo and giraffe and for the famous migration of wildebeest that takes place every year from July to October.
But the Masai Mara is by no means the only show in town. Further to the east you have Amboseli National Park with its epic views of Kilimanjaro, to the north you have Samburu, Marsabit and Meru National Parks, and here on Laikipia, in the Lewa conservancy, where the savannah is awash with elephants, giraffe, the quirky Grevy zebra and a new and burgeoning population of black rhino.
And as for the accommodation, well that is quite simply out of this world. Yes, to get the best you're going to pay, but in our opinion the experience you'll enjoy and quality of service you'll receive -- plus of course the game you'll see -- does make this value for money. There is simply nothing else like it on earth. Among many amazing places to stay, my personal favourites are Else's Kopje in Meru, Saruni in Samburu, Richard's Camp or Serian in the Mara, and either Sabuk or Borana here on the Laikipia Plateau.
But tourism in Kenya is not only about wild animals. The Kenyan Coast, stretching all the way from Diani Beach in the south the Lamu archipelago in the north, with its white sand beaches and gentle turquoise seas -- particularly when the trade winds are blowing in the right direction from November through to March -- again coupled with some fabulous accommodation, combine to make this a truly world class beach experience.
And if you like to meet the people -- an important factor in most Wild Frontiers adventures -- there are plenty of opportunities, particularly at Sarara, in the Matthews Range, at Il Ngwesi north or Mount Kenya and here at Borana.
To get around there is are great quality land cruisers, a brilliant air service, either in scheduled flights or on private charters, a classic bi-plane, or if you really want to push the boat out and get to places few others can reach, a truly amazing helicopter service, run by our friends at Tropic Air.
A classic African safari is a travel experience like no other, and one that all travellers should do at least once in their lives. And for that, in my opinion, there's nowhere better than Kenya.

Kenyan Street Food - HUGE GRILLED MEAT (Nyama Choma) Tour in Nairobi, Kenya | African Food!
►Check out Gikosh - Aviation:
►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week:
►T-shirts and caps available now:
Nyama choma, or grilled meat, is one of the favorite things to eat in Kenya. It can be many different types of meat, and usually the meat is slow roasted, sliced in front of you on your table, and served with salt, chilies, and kachumbari. In this video we’re taking you on a tour of some of the best nyama choma in Nairobi, Kenya.
Khan has a been a great friend of mine for many years in Nairobi, Kenya. And he recently started Gikosh, an aviation art company. You can check out their stuff on and
We decided to go on an ultimate Nairobi street food nyama choma (roasted meat tour) of Nairobi, but with a twist. Some of his carpenters and welders dressed in their Gikosh costumes for the occasion, and we first set off the walk about Gikomba Market in Nairobi.
After walking around the market for a while, we stopped at a small spot to eat our first grilled meat - nyama choma. They served grilled beef, and so we ordered a few kgs to snack on. It was overall quite good, and a nice friendly environment.
Total price - 1,000 KES ($9.86)
Kenyatta Market - For many years, Kenyatta Market has been one of my go to places for ready made nyama choma in Nairobi. They always have a huge selection that’s ready to eat when you arrive. The only thing that can be a bit hectic is when all the meat stalls are all trying to get your business at once. Some of the vendors even fight each other for your business. We eventually chose a stall, and ordered up a huge amount of meat. We got a mixed selection, but mostly goat, and a chicken, plus a bunch of Kenyan food side dishes.
Total price - 700 KES ($6.90) per kg
Dagoretti Corner - Final stop on this Kenyan food nyama choma tour was at
Dagoretti Corner and specifically Carol Smart Butchery. This is where we got husted for some meat! A few of the butchers from the slaughterhouse followed us to a nyama choma spot, chose some meat, and sat down to eat with us. But I was totally ok with eat, and they were hilarious and very entertaining!
Total price - 2,000 KES ($19.72)
Again, be sure to check out my buddy Khan:

THE ONLY CITY WITH A NATIONAL PARK - Safari in Nairobi National Park [Kenya Vlog #2]
Hey guys and welcome to a new video from Kenya! Today, I am going on my first ever Safari of my life and I was super excited! The crazy thing about Nairobi is that you can basically take a taxi ride from the city center and in 30 minutes you are in the Nairobi National Park, where you can see 4 of the big 5 in the wild - just an incredible experience!
During my game drive in the Nairobi National Park, I was able to spot rhinos, giraffes, lions, buffalos, zebras, crocodiles and a lot of other animals! It was honestly such a fun experience. #Nairobi #Kenya #NairobiNationalPark
P.S: My guide was from Bush&Events (not sponsored) and he was amazing!

Travel Tips: Wildlife Safaris in Kenya - Planning Your Trip
by AJAY JAIN
Seasoned travellers like me also find it a challenge to plan a wildlife trip to Kenya in Africa. There are lots of variable to figure. These include:
* Accommodation: Where to stay - hotels or camps? What is the right location, how much should one be spending and more.
* Safari Vehicles: You can go in vans or 4x4 Landcruisers. What works for whom?
* Guides: They come at different proficiency levels and you pay accordingly. Who is suitable for you?
* Which company should you book with? Different companies have differing quality of vehicles, guides, walkie-talkies to inform each other about sightings etc. Picking the right one could have a big bearing on your experience.
* Transportation: How do get from one park to another within Kenya? By road? Fly?
I spoke to Shivang Mehta about all of the above and more - and he demystified it for me. Tune in to pick these tips for yourself.
Shivang Mehta runs Nature Wanderers (naturewanderers.com) spends much of his time in the wild - in India, and in Africa. He not only goes for his own photography, but also takes groups for shooting and for participating in his workshops.

Where in the world can you take photos of animals against a city skyline?
Well here are my thoughts on why you should visit the Nairobi National park. If you’re lucky, you can see the lions hunt in the morning. It's a great escape from the city and an excellent introduction to the wildlife of East Africa if you are on your way to other parks or you have some time to spare.Featured is Nairobi National Park,The Nairobi Animal Orphanage, and spinets of the David Sheldric Elephant Orphanage.
Nairobi National Park is a national park in Kenya. Established in 1946, the national park was Kenya's first. It is located approximately 7 kilometres south of the centre of Nairobi, Kenya's capital city, with an electric fence separating the park's wildlife from the metropolis the first national park in Kenya, homes more than 50 rhinos and over 400 species of birds, making it a wildlife sanctuary.Plenty to animals to see - Lions, deer, buffalo, giraffe, rhino and warthogs just to name a few.

Fishing Adventures in Kenya Documentary
The film is an invitation to discover a little known aspect of Kenya. The pristine and age-old coast of Swahili, rich in marine life, displays an incredible variety of natural wonders and offers the possibility of numerous adventures.
The story begins on Pate Island where Bajunis natives take us on a boat ride on their traditional dhows to learn their ancient fishing techniques. From there we join them on a sea cucumber diving expedition and then move on to NGomeni where we discover the art of crabbing in inlets surrounded by mangrove trees. We then experience the thrill of deep sea fishing for marlins, sailfish and sharks in the spectacular waters of Malindi, Watamu and Kilifi.
This film is both enthralling in its content and visually spectacular. A true voyage of discovery from the perspective of the traditional or modern fishermen who best know the Kenyan waters.
