This is Day 1 of the Round the World for Food video series with Star Alliance:
I started off at home in Bangkok. One of the parts of traveling as a blogger and vlogger includes lots of equipment. I try to keep my video gear to a minimum so that I have maximum flexibility and mobility, but I still need quite a lot of gear. However, it doesn't matter if I travel for 1 year or 1 day, I’ll need about the same equipment.

After having dinner at home in Bangkok, we took a taxi to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. Luckily traffic wasn’t too bad and we arrived to the airport a little while after 7 pm.
For our first leg of the trip we flew with Air India from Bangkok to Mumbai. One of the best parts about this round the world trip is that Star Alliance sponsored us not only for the flights, but for business class flights, and so for this entire trip we’ll be flying on business class.
Air India was quite nice and as soon as we got in the air it was time for dinner. There are both veg and non-veg meal options on Air India, and I chose non-veg, which for dinner happened to be Indian prawns curry, which was served with rice, chapati, daal makhani and a few other side dishes. The prawns curry on Air India was fantastic. It wasn’t too oily or buttery and it had great flavor with a nice cardamom spice to it.
The flight from Bangkok to Mumbai on Air India was about four hours, and both my wife Ying and I fully enjoyed our seats and the relaxation. We landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at almost midnight.
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the main airport in Mumbai. From there, we took a prepaid taxi to South Mumbai, to an area of Mumbai called Colaba. I didn’t know this at the time, but you can choose to take an AC taxi or a non-AC. I didn’t think there would be such a big price difference, but the AC taxi to Colaba cost 950 INR ($14.21), while I think the non-AC would have been about half the price.
I had pre-booked The Gordon House Hotel in Mumbai.

My Daily Life in the SLUMS OF MUMBAI (Life-Changing 5 Days)
Learn how I started traveling full-time at 19:
Catch me and meet me during my travels:
Free $34 AirBnb credit for your next trip:
Two and a half years ago, during my first visit in India, I spent 2 days walking all around the slums of Mumbai. Even though I got to learn quite a bit about the life in the slums, I didn’t have the chance to live inside the slums and because of that I left with more questions than answers.
So now that I came back to India for the second time, I decided to go back to Mumbai and spend five days living in Dharavi, which is one of the largest slums in the world.
This experience opened my eyes in ways I couldn’t have imagined, because I got to spend so much time with the local people, who completely transformed my outlook on what their lives were like.
You see, as most outsiders, I had a very distorted view of the people of the slums. We grow up hearing stories about them dying on the streets, no one being able to read and write, kids having to sleep surrounded by flesh-eating rats and so on.
There are, of course, tons of problems that need to be addressed, especially when it comes to sanitation. For example, sources say that in Dharavi there is an average of 1 toilet for a thousand people. Also, livestock generally lives in the same quarters with people and that, combined with the fact that the local water sources lack cleaning facilities, sometimes causes the spread of contagious diseases.
However, people there are just like everywhere else. They have their own dreams, goals, careers, thoughts and emotions. They are in no way different from the rest of us.
It doesn’t matter where we come from. We are all equal. Some of us are born with golden spoons in our mouths, others are not. But that doesn’t define us. What defines us is our pursuit of happiness, our compassion for others and our ability to adapt to whatever circumstances we’re in and make the best of them.

Mumbai Street Food Day - Paneer Tikka Dosa, Pav Bhaji, Bhel Puri, and Sev Puri
SUBSCRIBE NOW►
T-shirts:
Day 5: Mumbai, India - We started off the day by first dropping our bags off at the airport. Then we had an amazing street food dosa from Anand Stall. Then we headed to Juhu Beach, which is a favorite beach to hang out and eat Mumbai street food. I tried pav bhaji and bhel puri, then we headed to have some marvelous sev puri, and finally went to the airport to catch our Air India flight from Mumbai to Muscat.
1:49 Anand Stall for Dosa - Located not far from Juhu Beach in Mumbai is Anand Stall that serves one of the best street food dosas in Mumbai. They have a list of creative types of dosas you can order, and when I saw the paneer tikka dosa on the menu, I knew that’s what I needed to order. They cooked it up in front of me, with the batter and then adding in all the toppings. The paneer tikka was scooped onto a plate with the rolled up dosa. It was incredibly delicious, one of the best street foods I ate in Mumbai.
6:04 Juhu Beach and Street Food - From the amazing Anand Dosa, we took an auto rickshaw over to Juhu Beach. Juhu Beach was a bit stormy on the day we visited, and it was incredibly windy. So I decided to just have a quick coconut refreshment while standing on the beach before heading into the food area.
8:00 Pav Bhaji - One of the most popular Mumbai street foods is pav bhaji, which includes bread and bhaji, which is a combination of potatoes, tomatoes and spices mashed up into an almost gravy like consistency. The bhaji is eaten with the buttered bread and it’s a favorite Mumbai food.
11:12 Bhel Puri - Another common Mumbai street food is bhel puri, and it’s especially known for being served on the beaches of Mumbai. The recipe for bhel puri includes puffed rice and sev, which is stirred up with a variety of chutney and some spices, and onions and tomatoes and potatoes. It was awesome, and made a fantastic beach snack.
14:07 Sev Puri (6th Road Sev Puri) - When it comes to Mumbai street food chaats, sev puri is one of my all time favorites, and I was happy to have the opportunity to eat it one more time before leaving Mumbai. Not far from Juhu Beach is a street food stall called 6th Road Sev Puri, that serve a variety of chaat, but sev puri is what they are known for. It’s the best sev puri I’ve ever had. The combination of chutneys and the toppings were sensational.
16:51 Rickshaw to airport - After our final Mumbai street food snack, we jumped into an auto rickshaw and drove to the Mumbai airport to catch our flight.
18:53 Air India lounge - Waiting for our flight, we hung out at the Air India lounge, and they actually had some very good food at the lounge, including some more paneer tikka.
22:02 Arriving to Muscat, Oman - We flew from Mumbai to Muscat on Air India.

Famous Tarbooz ka Sharbat | Fruit Ninja | Watermelon Juice | Pakistani Street Food
The Water Pump area seems to be for “Tarbooz ka Sherbet” (watermelon juice) what Burnes Road is for food. One can't mention food in Karachi without Burnes Road and, apparently one also cant mention watermelon juice without referring to the place where the drink is believed to have originated — Water Pump.
Even though every watermelon juice vendor, be it in Saddar or Sohrab Goth, will claim to sell “Water Pump Ka Mashoor Tarbooz ka Sherbet” (Water Pump’s famed watermelon juice), the place synonymous with the traditional summer drink is a false positive.
According to a watermelon juice vendor, Nafay Agha, who has a stall at Shahrah-e-Pakistan of the original Water Pump brand, a member of the Bohri community set up the first stall of watermelon juice in Bohri Bazaar in 1998. “He is said to have gotten the inspiration for making the drink during a trip to Saudi Arabia,” he said.
“But it was one of his workers, Jummah Khan, who later attached the tag of Water Pump with the drink.”
Jummah Khan is now Agha’s boss and a pretty known name in the watermelon juice business.
he launched his own chain of watermelon juice pushcarts with the famous tagline of ‘Water Pump Ka Mashoor Tarbooz ka Sherbet’. And the location has stuck with the drink since then. Now everyone who opens up a stall uses the name.”

JERUSALEM FALAFEL: Very Freshly made Saj Bread Sandwich Wraps: Vegetarian Street Food In London.
✓ Follow us on Instagram:
✓ Meet the Falafel Wrap Masters!!! There is this market stall going by the name Jerusalem Falafel they serve up these gorgeous pure vegetarian / vegan wraps (for only £5.00) in Berwick Street Market, London.............what makes the wraps such a treat is that they wrap it in a freshly made Middle Eastern flat bread called Saj bread (almost like an Indian style chapatti or roti) and then after it's filled up with various salads, pickles & sauces; it's then grilled so that it's served piping hot........WARNING these wraps are fully loaded and absolutely delicious !!!
Like we said, the served wrap is fully loaded, so make sure you visit with an empty stomach..........or with a friend to share.
It can get very busy here at lunchtimes but that's not a problem because here we have the privilege of watching what is truly a master class in efficient production line style dedicated team work; it's a real pleasure to witness the art of fast wrap making in action. These guys are amongst some of the FASTEST Street Food workers we've ever seen.
These guys have honed and perfected their wrapping technique over the years to such an extent that from the moment they take the flatbread in their hand to the moment that the filled wrap is handed over to the customer; can take on average well under a minute)!!! (Note, the whole of this this video is in real time; nothing has been speeded up, even though at times it may appear so).
Also watch some very, very FAST falafel making action. This is what fast food really should mean..........here it should be called 100 miles an hour fast food. When was the last time you ordered something from a fast food take away (or restaurant) & spent ages waiting for it??? This is wonderful Restaurant Quality Food but at very affordable street food prices!!!
There is no secret to the recipe and preparation because they make everything in full view of you including the handmade Saj breads.
They take the freshly made Saj Bread and then the filling includes: Hummus, Lettuce, Aubergine, Pickled Gherkin, Pickled Jalapenos Peppers, Freshly cut Tomatoes, Falafel, Fresh roughly Chopped Parsley, Tahini (Sesame & Lemon sauce) and Chilli Sauce. The falafels are always being constantly fried so in the actual wrap they retain a nice crisp and crunch.
The falafel itself is a combination of more than 20 kinds of vegetables, herbs and spices:
* 65% Chickpeas.
* 15% Vegetables (Parsley, Celery, Onion, Garlic, Ginger, Green & Red Paprika, Capsicum.
* 10% Herbs.
* 2% Spices.
* 6.5% Water.

India's FOOD Temple! THE HOLIEST FOOD IN THE WORLD ????
India has a food temple where the Brahmin priests prepare food from age-old recipes in earthen pots over wood fires. They then bless the food and sell it at a market attached to the temple (Ananta Vasudev Mandir).
I'll take you behind the scenes of Ananta Basudev Mandir temples in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha as the priests cook the food (prasad). Then we'll go to the temple's food market and buy the blessed food from the priests and try it out! There are 11 dishes for me to try.
Here's what I ate at India's Food Temple:
Mitha Dali (Sweet Lentils)
Potolo Channa Masala (Pointed Gourd & Chickpeas)
Dalma (Lentil & Vegetables)
Khatta (Tamarind & Dates Chutney)
Saaga (Spinich)
Sarson Ka Saaf Makke Di Roti
Besara (Vegetables & Mustard)
Mohura
Pachidi (Coconut & Fruit Raita)
Kheer (Sweet Rice with Milk)

India to Canada flying with British Airways travel vlog (Kolkata - Mumbai - London - Toronto)
Just for our last day in India as we leave from India to Canada from Kolkata to Toronto via Mumbai and London with British Airways in this travel vlog. Having been on the road for 9 consecutive months we decided to end our travels in Asia a bit early (originally we had allotted time for travel in Japan, Vietnam, China, Indonesia and the Philippines) after feeling a little worn out and homesick. Audrey's parents got a new pet (a German Shepherd puppy) recently and we excited to meet him (Togo). This was one heck of a marathon trip as we connected through four major cities with plenty of waiting time in between each connecting flight. You'll notice we were absolute pigs in this video eating every chance we got and probably consuming double or triple the amount of calories we'd normally have in a similar time period. LOL, what can I say other than food kept us partially sane during for such a long trip.

India to Canada flying with British Airways travel vlog (Kolkata - Mumbai - London - Toronto) travel video transcript:
Well I think you can guess where we are. Back at the airport. Back at the airport. So yeah, this is it for us in India. We have got a lot flights ahead of us. Why don't you tell us about those.
Well okay. Haha.
So initially we were thinking of traveling around Asia a little bit longer. Yeah. But honestly it has been like seven or eight months. No, it has been longer. It has been closer to nine I think. Yeah.
Anyways, it has been a long time and we're feeling a little bit tired. We're missing family, we also want to visit our pets. So we're heading back to Canada. Yeah, and there is a new addition to Audrey's family.
Yeah, so we have a German Shepherd. It is kind of sad but my two cats and my dog past away in the last year. In the last few months. Yeah.
So we'll be meeting my German Shepard Togo. My pup brother. Togo. I already call him Wolfie. He looks like a little wolf. Yeah, he is really cute. We can't wait to meet him for the 1st time.
So first things first we're at the Food Boulevard inside the airport and we're going to go get some food because we didn't have a very big breakfast. And I'm hungry and Sam is hungry and the food looks good here.
Sam was kind enough to go get me food and I'm having some stir-fried noodles with vegetables. What you got looks really good as well.
I know. What did you get?
Haha.
Sneak peak over here. I got cheese dosa and one of my favorite Indian desserts - Jalebi.
So and that is not all. You went to another little stand for Momos.
Status update. We're going to our gate and we should be boarding in an hour and then we'll be in Mumbai.
So I don't even remember when I was last in India. It was probably like six, seven or eight years ago but I do remember that Mumbai Airport did not look like this. Like it is swanky. They've redecorated and renovated and it is really pretty.
Heading over to the T Dot. Last leg. Final. Three of three. Almost there.
Oh my goodness we are here. We are out. We arrived in Toronto probably like two hours ago bu we had to sit on the plane because someone was sick and paramedics had to come on and then the immigration line was really long. We're here. There is Sam. My sister picked me up. We're on our way home and we're going to meet my dog. Well not my dog. My Dad's dog. My family dog. Ahh. Togo. Anyways it has been a very long video. Three flights over the course of like two days. So we're going to say goodbye. Goodbye everyone. Now it is time to meet Wolfie. Wolfie that is my name. Hahaha. That is not his name. It is Togo. Haha bye.
Say hi Togo. Hello to the world. I'm a cute puppy. Look this way Togo. Hi. Hello. I'm a cute puppy.
Togo. Togo are you being camera shy all of a sudden. Venica. Togo. Oh Togo.

Medina also transliterated as Madīnah (Hejazi pronunciation: [almaˈdiːna]), is the capital of the Al-Madinah Region in Saudi Arabia. At the city's heart is al-Masjid an-Nabawi ('The Prophet's Mosque'), which is the burial place of the Islamic prophet, Muhammad (SAW). Medina is one of the three holiest cities in Islam, the other two being Mecca and Jerusalem.
