Ye Olde Mitre Pub - Where Queen Elizabeth drank - London
Ye Olde Mitre Pub is situated in Ely Court just off Hatton Garden.

SUPPORT MY CHANNEL ON PATREON ➜ for more videos like this about London.
The whole area is called Hatton Garden after Sir Christopher Hatton, as I will explain.
It was built in 1547 originally as a part of the palace of Ely, which was the town residence of the Bishop of Ely, which is in Cambridgeshire.
Ye Olde Mitre would have been the servants' quarters and all part of the bishop's domain.
However, Queen Elizabeth had a favourite called Sir Christopher Hatton and she wanted him to have a place to stay in London so she commandeered a gatehouse and a large amount of the ground including this building so that she could give it to Sir Christopher Hatton.
When Bishop Cox refused the Queen is said to have replied,
Proud prelate, I understand you are backward in complying. I would have you understand that I who made you what you are can unmake you. If you do not faithfully fulfil your engagement, by God I will immediately unfrock you!
The pub was rebuilt in 1772 but remained under the control of Cambridgeshire until the 20th century and indeed the London City police could not arrest you if you entered the area. They would have to call the Cambridgeshire police force to come down and do it.
In the corner of the pub there is a tree trunk which is actually a part of the building. It is a supporting beam which existed in Queen Elizabeth's time. She is said to have danced the maypole around it and it marks the boundary between the the bishop of Ely's grounds and those of Sir Christopher Hatton.
The pub is not open on weekends but it has a lovely couple of enclosures you can book for private functions and it generally fabulous and old.
This is where John of Gaunt does his famous speech in Richard II by William Shakespeare:
This royal throne of kings,
This sceptered isle
This special stone set in a silver sea
This blessed plot
This earth
This realm
This England!

Places to see in ( Hatfield - UK )
Places to see in ( Hatfield - UK )
Hatfield is a town and civil parish in Hertfordshire, England, in the borough of Welwyn Hatfield. Hatfield House, the home of the Marquess of Salisbury, is the nucleus of the old town. From the 1930s when de Havilland opened a factory until the 1990s when British Aerospace closed, Hatfield was associated with aircraft design and manufacture, which employed more people than any other industry.
Hatfield was one of the post-war New Towns built around London and has much modernist architecture from the period. The University of Hertfordshire is based there. Hatfield is 20 miles (30 kilometres) north of London and is connected to the capital via the A1(M) and direct trains to London King's Cross, Finsbury Park and Moorgate. As a result, the town has seen a recent increase in commuters who work in London moving to the area.
In the Saxon period Hatfield was known as Hetfelle, but by the year 970, when King Edgar gave 5,000 acres (20 km2) to the monastery of Ely, it had become known as Haethfeld. Hatfield is mentioned in the Domesday Book as the property of the Abbey of Ely, and unusually, the original census data which compilers of Domesday used still survives, giving us slightly more information than in the final Domesday record.
Hatfield House is the seat of the Cecil family, the Marquesses of Salisbury. Elizabeth Tudor was confined there for three years in what is now known as The Old Palace in Hatfield Park. Legend has it that it was here in 1558, while sitting under an oak tree in the Park, that she learned that she had become Queen following the death of her half-sister, Queen Mary I. She held her first Council in the Great Hall (The Old Palace) of Hatfield.
The town grew up around the gates of Hatfield House. Old Hatfield retains many historic buildings, notably the Old Palace, St Etheldreda's Church and Hatfield House. The Old Palace was built by the Bishop of Ely, Cardinal Morton, in 1497, during the reign of Henry VII, and the only surviving wing is still used today for Elizabethan-style banquets. St Etheldreda's Church was founded by the monks from Ely, and the first wooden church, built in 1285, was probably sited where the existing building stands overlooking the old town.
Hatfield is 20 miles (32 km) to the north of London. It is 14 miles (23 km) from London Luton Airport and also near Stansted airport The A1(M) runs through the town, which is also close to the M25. The University of Hertfordshire is based in Hatfield.

Lemur Landings Soft Play - Tower Park, Poole
Hi, I'm Captain Lewis Hoops, but you can call me Lewey, all my friends do. I live at Lemur Landings on Tower Park in Poole and I can't wait for you to come and play here.
I'm so lucky to have such a huge place to play in with bridges to cross, tunnels to explore, plenty of clambering up and sliding down, and running around. You can fire the cannons (my favourite!), jump in the ball pit or play hide and seek.
My little lemur shipmates have even got their own place to play in, just right for tiny explorers. Every day is a different adventure here; sometimes I am back in Madagascar hiding in the jungle, or sometimes I'm on my ship on high seas, well shiver me timbers it's a whole load of fun. Oh we lemurs do love to party, and I'm no exception, we have lots of celebrations here and I just can't resist popping along whenever I can to wish you a fantastic day.
Us lemurs love to make friends too, so why not pop along soon to see if you can make some new friends at Lemur Landings -- I'll be glad to make your acquaintance.
