Waterfalls & Waterholes in Queensland, Australia
Waterfalls and Waterholes in Queensland. Majestic waterfalls dropping into beautiful lagoons and raging rivers that have some awesome power. These are scattered throughout North Queensland and are well worth the trek for a look. Cool down away from the surf and sand in one of the many swimming holes of the Gold Coast, including Currumbin rock pools, Cedar Creek rock pools and the man-made rockpools at Broadwater Parklands. The tiny township of Finch Hatton presents you with a rare chance to get up close and personal with an Aussie icon when you go scuba diving with platypuses. Freshen up on Fraser Island with its champagne pools, fresh springs and over 100 freshwater lakes. Take refuge from the outback sun with a splash in the boulder creeks in Girraween National Park. #toowoomba #dalby #tara #surat #st George #goondiwindi #trains #railways #tracks #rail tunnels #rail bridges #running water #waterfalls #atherton #carnarvon #babinda #cairns #beaver rock #fishing around beaver rock #fishing mary river #mary river fishing #west qld #west queensland #travelling #queens park #maryborough #heritage markets #scarness #piabla #urangan#tin can bay #cooloola #gympie #fraser island #dolphins in tin can bay #mary river #maryborough #australia #johnekert #john ekert #john ekert channel #queensland #travel #documentary# sights #explore #wide bay #hervey bay #fraser Island #goomboorian #organic #beans #organic farm #dairy farm #fresh vegetables #cooking #vlog #blog #qld #maaroom #fraser island fishing #fraser island drivi
Near Miss
Driving just south of Cooktown in FNQ, this bullock appeared from nowhere. If he hadn't stopped we would have hit him.
The Adventures of El Cheapo
Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, but also the starting spot for many to go and visit Australia's Rainforests. Most people head to Cape Tribulation, hiring a car or joining a day tour. However most people don't end up in Cooktown and find the end of the Tarmac on the East Coast.
On our adventure we hired a El Cheapo from the company Jucy. This is our adventure with our El Cheapo. See where we got to in the big white box on wheels. Starting in the in the city of Cairns, we headed North along the East Coast, stopping at Port Douglas and Mossman Gorge, where we walked for free to gorge. Don't pay for the bus, only lazy people do that. The forest and river was beautiful, but the river was a bit cold. We ended the day at Daintree village and camped in the caravan park for $20. The next day we crossed the Daintree river and traveled to Cape Tribulation where we saw an endangered Southern Cassowary. What an amazing Bird, just prehistoric looking!
Next we drove the 300km to Cooktown before sunset, however we had to go the long way round on the Mulligan Highway, as El Cheapo not a 4WD and you need it for driving the Bloomfield track, from Cape Tribulation to Cooktown.
We stayed the next two nights at Cooktown Golf Course for $20 a night. Cheap beer, but no showers! In Cooktown we visited MT cook, Glassy Hilly, Archer Point, Isabella and Trevethan Falls, both safe to swim!
Finally we had the drive back, splitting the journey up by stopping at the famous Lion Den Pub at Roseville and staying at Mount Molloy Campsite for free. Fantastic trip and well worth seeing Cape Tribulation and Cooktown.
