Legacy of Harry C. Trexler
Harry C. Trexler... the name is familiar to many throughout Eastern, PA but few realize this man's full impact. This visionary created large corporations without loosing site of the community's needs.
An entrepreneur, statesman and industrialist, Trexler made his mark in the early 1900's. The General's endeavors helped him become one of the richest men in the state of Pennsylvania. He used his wealth to help others through college scholarships, the Boy Scouts, the beautiful Allentown park system and so much more.
Lehigh Valley community members share their memories of Harry Trexler, and the joy his generosity brought to their lives. From thoughtful gifts around the holidays to memorable fishing trips, Harry remembered the little things. His vision for the future makes him a Lehigh Valley icon.
We'll explore the rich heritage of this man and find out how Harry C. Trexler continues to make our community a better place decades after his death.

Entry into the Lehigh Valley 2018 What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? student video contest. The annual contests excite students across Pennsylvania to explore cool manufacturing careers and produce profiles of companies. Each contest features an online vote for its Viewers Choice Award. The contest format also has been adopted in 11 additional states.
The flagship What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? contest marked its fifth anniversary in 2018 with entries by 30 teams from 22 school districts in Lehigh, Northampton, and Carbon counties and the Diocese of Allentown. The Lehigh Valley contest was produced by the Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) in Allentown, PA. The song about Allentown, Pennsylvania has become an anthem of blue collar America, representing both the aspirations and frustrations of America's working class in the late 20th century. Billboard rated Allentown #43 on their year-end Hot 100 chart for 1983.

Governor Wolf Visits ASD and Harrison Morton Middle School
Recognizing Pennsylvania’s flawed and outdated charter school law is one of the worst in the nation, Governor Tom Wolf is taking executive action, overhauling regulations, and visited Allentown to propose legislation to comprehensively reform the law. Press conference speakers included: ASD Superintendent Thomas Parker, Bethlehem Area SD Superintendent Joseph Roy, State Representative Peter Schweyer and Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera.

Allentown (Pennsylvania Dutch: Allenschteddel) is a city located in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is Pennsylvania's third most populous city and the 231st largest city in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 118,032 and is currently the fastest growing city in all of Pennsylvania. It is the largest city in the metropolitan area known as the Lehigh Valley, which had a population of 821,623 residents as of 2010. Allentown constitutes a portion of the New York City Combined Statistical Area and is the county seat of Lehigh County. In 2012, the city celebrated the 250th anniversary of its founding in 1762.Located on the Lehigh River, Allentown is the largest of three adjacent cities, in Northampton and Lehigh counties, that make up a region of eastern Pennsylvania known as the Lehigh Valley, the other two cities being Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Easton, Pennsylvania. Allentown is 50 miles (80 km) north-northwest of Philadelphia, the sixth most populous city in the United States, 90 miles (140 km) east-northeast of Harrisburg, the state capital, and 90 miles (140 km) west of New York City, the nation's largest city.
The Norfolk Southern Railway's Lehigh Line (formerly the main line of the Lehigh Valley Railroad using former Lehigh and Susquehanna Railroad main line trackage), runs through Allentown heading east across the Delaware River. The Norfolk Southern Railway's Reading Line runs through Allentown heading west to Reading, Pennsylvania.
Allentown was cited as a national success story in April 2016 by the Urban Land Institute for its downtown redevelopment and transformation, one of only six communities in the country to have been named as such.
