Travel to Chilean Patagonia (Torres del Paine) | Full Documentary
▶FULL DOCUMENTARIES |
▶ Spanish video:
The Torres del Paine National Park is located in the Chilean Patagonia, in an area of climatic contrasts that have allowed a great variety of plant and animal species. Located in the middle of the Andean range, the Paine massif lends its name to the National Park. The mountains, with peaks in excess of 3,000 metres, mark a diving line which differentiates two completely different areas.
- To the west of the range, on the Pacific side, moisture-laden winds collide with the slopes and releases their rain, which hardly ever reaches the other face. It is a cold and wet side, characterised by rocks, forests and ice.
- On the east slope, where rain hardly ever falls, large plains extend as far as the Atlantic, the steppe gradually transforming into quasi-desert.
The entire relief of the Patagonian Andean range has a pronounced glacial character.
Thaw waters arriving from the Paine massif irrigate both slopes. There are a multitude of rivers and large glacial lakes are spread throughout the park.
Waterfowl, ñandues, armadillos, geese and foxes are some of the most numerous species of the park, although there is an animal that stands out above all because it is the most characteristic of Patagonia: the guanaco.
Of the four South American camels, it is the most adaptable and can live from sea level up to a height of 4000 metres.
There is a stable population of them in Torres del Paine. The young males congregate in herds of approximately 30 until the age of five, when they reach sexual maturity. At this moment, they separate form the group and seek their own territory and females and form a new family.
The guanaco herds divide the Torres del Paine brushland and pre-desert into marked territorial areas. Each group has a dominant male, which does not allow any of the adolescents to mate with its females and an inflexible hierarchy is established.
In the mating season, these dominant males have to reaffirm their position in face of new candidates and there are frequent chases, biting, and spitting of gastric juices and partially digested matter.
Although their distribution is highly restricted by the pressure of man, something of the ancient totemic respect of the South American Indians continues to impregnate the figure of the guanaco. Some inhabitants of the region still approach areas where herds have spent the night to collect earth sodden with urine and excrement. They form small balls out of it and use it in the form of pills as medicine for different bodily and spiritual ailments.
In the same way as the Patagonians admired the guanaco, the Incas worshipped the condor like god. For them, it was the “Lord of the Andes”, a mythological animal which inspired them with respect and veneration.
The Andean condor is the largest bird of prey in the world and the largest flying bird. With a span of almost four metres and weighing up to 12 kilos, this majestic flyer requires air currents in order to fly. Its enormous muscles only allow it to make thirty consecutive wing movements before fallin in exhaustion, which is why they are generally to be seen planing in circles until reaching heights of over 6,000 metres.

Artist: Jorge C
Track: El Effekto
Label: OJo de Apolo Label
Jorge C released his 8th vinyl called El Effekto by OJo de Apolo Label
Jorge Cortés, one the pioneers of electronic music in Chile, has now made Berlin his home, after 10 years of temporary visits. From one of the central hubs of electronic music he released his 8th vinyl, El Effekto (name chosen in recognition of the mix of Spanish and German language). This new record mixes crazy mutant-filtrated sounds with a touch of nu-disco.
Following the tradition to invite other musicians to participate in the Ojo de Apolo Project (ojodeapolo.cl), this production includes a remix by the legendary Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being. He's been part of the Chicago House and Acid scene since the 90s with his label Mathematics Recordings.
I like the Hieroglyphic Being proposal, because inside of House he doesn't follow the basic or generic. He is brave, to give you an example, he mixes jazz music as Sunra and gets a good style-crossing. His work was very attractive for this track, comments Jorge C.
Jorge Cortés has worked alongside Chilean audiovisual producer Ginés Olivares, who has lived in Berlin for more than ten years, to create the video track which gives its title to the Ep. Exploring the visual concept of movement, both artists examined body language and dance. Using different recording formats which give form and color to the video, the result is a collage with a unique esthetic. The Ep vinyl is available in different record stores around Europe, Asia and America, distributed by Clone (clone.nl).
Jorge C. bio.
Jorge Cortés comes from Santiago de Chile, where he has been running the local label Ojo de Apolo.
In 1997 he began under the alias Cáncer creating several Cdr productions soon to be released on vinyl as a retrospective by Further Records.
His work as Receptor , from 2002 onwards, is geared towards a more minimal-deep-sound in net and vinyl labels, such as: Sushitech; Winsome-music;Plong!; Adjunct; Citymorb;Them, etc.
Since 2008 re-inventing himself with his new aka. Jorge C. he started focusing on house grooves, this new project was released by Matrix Recordings from Detroit and Ojodeapolo.
During his career he has performed live Dj sets South America, Europe and Japan.

Tropical Adventure
Just a few hours from the hustle and bustle of manila lies the idyllic island of Mindoro, on the northern end can be found puerto galera a wild life heaven, with tropical adventures to suit all tastes.
The natural world is here in abundance, its no wonder why it is listed on the national heritage list of WWF,
Scuba diving, trekking and island hopping are all your disposal, and after a long day soaking up the natural atmosphere the night life will keep you well dinned and entertained, fine restaurants for all culinary tastes can be found to go along with live music and dancing.

The area was designated a Man and Biosphere Reserve of UNESCO in 1973 and has some of the most diverse coral reef diving in Asia. The marine environment has benefited in recent years from the influx of tourist dollars. This has seen a huge reduction in the number of fishermen in the area, as they gain higher revenue from tourists.
Puerto Galera is a listed by the Club of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World, and is the only bay in the Philippines to be listed there.
Among the famous beaches in Puerto Galera are Sabang Beach and White Beach, which have an active nightlife with numerous bars and restaurants. Both beaches also have an array of first-class and economy-class accommodations.
Sabang beach is the main destination for foreign tourists, while White Beach remains popular with local travelers.Big La Laguna Beach and Small La Laguna Beach are considered part of Sabang with resorts lining the beaches. Big La Laguna Beach is popular for local swimmers and snorkelers. Since 2001 White beach has seen uncontrolled development. New restaurants and places to stay are rapidly encroaching on the beach itself and little remains of the once charming beach. Puerto Galera town is a pleasant but sleepy Philippine town with few attractions. It has a large central catholic church and a Pier area, with a selection of bistros and cafes.
The Philippines is an archipelago of 7,107 islands with a total land area of approximately 300,000 square kilometers (116,000 square miles). The island of Borneo is located a few hundred kilometres southwest and Taiwan is located directly to the north. The Moluccas and Sulawesi are located to the south-southwest and Palau is located to the east of the islands. The Philippines (Filipino: Pilipinas officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino: Republika ng Pilipinas), is a country in Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean. Taiwan lies north across the Luzon Strait. West across the South China Sea sits Vietnam.

10. La Serena
This northern Chilean town is the second oldest in the nation. It boasts a city full of lovely architecture and a warm golden beach. La Serena has a reputation as an intellectual town, and has a number of great sights that fit this description, like an archaeological museum and astronomical observatory. Outdoor enthusiasts will love to bike through the Elqui Valley, swim, snorkel, dive and/or hike through Isla Damas, and visit the national park at Fray Jorge.
9. Santiago
The capital city is the political and cultural heart of Chile. From the high mountain views of the Cerro San Cristobal Park to the secluded history of poet Pablo Neruda’s writing retreat, there is much to see in Santiago. Top picks include skiing Valle Nevado or Portillo, wine tasting at Vina Aquitania, or visits to one of several top museums like Museo Chile de Arte Precolumbio or Museo de la Moda. For those who don’t want to spend all of their time in the city, there are amazing hiking opportunities like the steep slopes of Cajon de Maipo.
8. Chiloe Island
Chiloé Island is the largest island of the Chiloé Archipelago in the Los Lagos Region and the second-largest island in South America after Tierra del Fuego. In part because of its physical isolation from the rest of Chile, Chiloé has a very special architecture and local culture.
7. Iquique
This beautiful beach and casino town offers a vibrant boardwalk and gorgeous 19th century Georgian architecture like the Aztoreca Palace. Iquique is the Monte Carlo of Chile, and has much to offer for anyone who loves free-spirited fun. During the day, guests here can participate in world-famous surfing waves, paraglide or sand-board on the golden coast.
6. Chilean Fjords
The southern coast of Chile presents a large number of fjords and channels that provide the only access to this part of Patagonia. Sailing through this region can be an unforgettable experience. Most of the trips start from Puerto Montt and travel towards Carretera Austral, Laguna San Rafael and Puerto Natales.
5. Valparaiso
This hard-working economic port town on the coast of Central Chile was loved by the poet Pablo Neruda for its beautiful chaos. It boasts some of the first urban innovations in Latin America, like the first volunteer fire department. In addition to its working class roots, Valparaiso has a reputation for an underground street art movement.
4. Chilean Lake District
This long, lush volcanic valley region stretches from Puerto Montt in the South to Temuco in the North. It is home to dense forests, crystal-clear lakes, and snowcapped volcanoes. Before the introduction of Europeans, the lake district was thickly forested, and inhabited by the Mapuche, one of the few South American tribes to avoid being swallowed into the Incan nations.
3. San Pedro de Atacama
Popular among Chilean tourists and international visitors alike, this is one of the most visited places in Chile. San Pedro de Atacama is a town on the edge of one of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes. Austere, endless flood and salt plains surrounded by coppery mountains are plentiful, and have to be seen to be believed.
2. Torres del Paine
The “towers of blue” national park constitutes a glaciated region on the Southern tip of Chile. Three large pillars in the park give it its name, and it is also home to a number of “horns”, or other mountains, and glaciated lakes. Exploration through this park can be done via mini van tours, multi-day treks, or catamaran trips. There are a few services who will also offer horseback tours to some of the sites.
1. Easter Island
Located more than 3,500 km (2,000 miles) form central Chile, Easter Island continues to be one of the world’s great mysteries. This treeless island of hundreds of giant, hollow-eyed statues carved by its Polynesian visitors is an eerie yet beautiful example of human artistry and achievement.
