I stongly recomend this place for hikers with all experience. We went there in june 2018 when there was few people in the park, plenty of space in the huts, lovely food and lovely people.
The Triglav National Park (Slovenia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about nature park Triglavski Noradni Park.
The Triglav National Park begins on the northern edge of the triangular border of Slovenia, Italy and Austria in Kranjska Gora. This, the best known and most well equipped ski resort in Slovenia, is growing in popularity each year, including the summer months. The first mountain massifs of the Julian Alps reflect in the small Lake Jansa which lies just beyond Kranjska Gora en route to the Vrsic Pass. The high rising Slovenian Alps are one of the most little known yet most beautiful alpine regions in Europe, a mysterious, unspoiled landscape and the realm of the zlatorog, a goat with golden horns! In this natural paradise, Europe’s wildest and most romantic river is born, the Soca, the ‘emerald’ river. Geologically, the landscape of the Upper Soca is relatively young and rugged with deep cut valleys and few flat areas. Its characteristic appearance was formed by the action of a glacier and water erosion formed a valley. Near Bovec, the Koritnica Valley begins and ascends to Italy’s, Passo Del Predil. A tranquil valley end with wonderful views and a few small villages which are romantic in summer but that can be treacherous in winter. Each summer an historic steam train travels through the Triglav National Park and both the Baca and Soca Valleys to Nova Gorica, a wonderful journey on a slow train through a green and fertile landscape. Near Lake Bohinj is the park’s cultural landscape, an experiment that seems to be a success. The tranquil village of Stara Fuzina is situated on the gentle and sun blessed slopes of the Triglav Mountains where both agriculture and nature conservation are closely related and the farms have been preserved in all of their past glory. The Triglav National Park impresses with its beautiful, contrasting scenery, bare mountains, deep valleys, wild water, blossoming alpine flowers, high mountains as well as breathtaking waterfalls and glacial lakes. Truly a natural paradise in the heart of Europe!

Triglavski Narodni Park (Slovenia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Triglavski Narodni Park in Slovenia.
Slovenia’s Triglav National Park is located between the Julian Alps and Karavanke on the triangular border of Slovenia, Italy and Austria. The high rising Slovenian Alps are one of the most little known yet most beautiful alpine regions in Europe, a wild, natural paradise, reminiscent of an enchanted world and a unique mountain landscape of outstanding beauty. On a slope that leads down to the Trenta Valley is a monument that commemorates mountaineer and writer Doctor Julius Kugy who discovered both this location and the Julian Alps. The two thousand five hundred and eighty seven metre high Kanin Mountain near Bovec is typical of the park’s karst and limestone landscape with its bare slopes and bizarre rock formations. The highlight of this natural beauty is a high valley that contains seven lakes. The climb is rather testing but well worth it as wonderful alpine flora adorns the landscape. Many of the remarkable alpine flowers are endemic and can only be found in the high mountains. The Triglav National Park impresses with its magnificent, contrasting scenery and is a natural paradise in the very heart of Europe!

I Went To Mordor - Landscape Photography Blog | Triglav National Park Slovenia
Probably my most ambitious landscape photography project to date, I got up at 2 AM to drive out to Triglav National Park and shoot a very specific scene. After getting to the top of the peak of Slemenova Špica, it felt like nothing short of entering the land of Mordor.

Slovenia's Secret Lake | Triglav National Park Lake Bohinj + Lake Bled
We were surprised to know that Lake Bled is not the only beautiful lake in the Julian Alps region. The Triglav National Park is also home to Lake Bohinj, the biggest lake in Slovenia.
We visit the stunning lake Bled with Endless Adventure and tried the famous Bled cake at Bled Castle and it is up there with the best deserts, well worth the entrance fee to eat this delicacy.

The Black Lake - Triglav National Park, Slovenia
Beautiful morning at lake Bohinj, the fog is slowly lifting up from the lake and the stunning view of the mountains reviles. We prepare our backpack and off we go, motivated to do at least one of the summits.
Having no food supply left, we go to our favorite place to have our childish breakfast and with all the energy gained we are ready for a day full of adventures.
Our first stop is the well known Slavica Waterfall which is known to be the biggest waterfall in Slovenia with a 40m drop, streaming out from the cliff which is fed by the underground karst channels from the Black Lake. Yes, the path to the waterfall is good, relatively easy, but it's way too touristy and packed with people. We also had to pay an entrance fee of 3 EUR. Was it worth it? It was nice, don't get me wrong, but it didn't impress.
We continued our journey to our next destination - the Black Lake, but not before we stopped for a quick Slovenian cream cake to get out boost of energy before climbing the cliff up to the lake.
The Black lake is the lowest Triglav lake lying above the Komarca cliff which is connected to the other Triglav Lakes. The Black lake is also the starting point to the Triglav Valley which holds the 7 Trigalv lakes and the trail to the mount Triglav itself.
Climbing the cliff was challenging, very steep, dangerous but with an astonishing view over the Julien Alps and a great waterfall. After a 3 hour hike we got to the top of the cliff where the temperature suddenly dropped and started walking on ice and snow till the Black Lake.
We took a well deserved break at the lake, eat whatever food we had left and just took in the beauty of the view.
The plan was to walk to the upper meadow at 1600m and off we go with our snow fences on and start walking on scary 4-5m snow. We found our way to a 1500m altitude, but struggled to find our way further on and due to lack of time we decided to return. Once again we are back at the lake, got some more water from the lake and decide to try our luck with another trail down.
We walk and walk and walk, and after about an hour we can't see any more footsepts, and we make it official - we got lost. We found eventually a sign that told us we were waling on the Triglav Seven lake trail and what we originally had in mind. Once again we decide the return and this time we went down on the trail we got up.
We got back to the base about 8pm and finished our day with a rich 3 course dinner at our favorite place Hotel STARE Bohinj (link) - amazing service, cheap, great presentation and great quality food. If you are not camping and looking for a great place to relax around Lake Bohinj, this is the place.
We went to Slovenia with the expectation of having a lot of rain and it took us by surprise with a great weather throughout our stay.
On our last day in Bohinj we walked around the lake with a few stops on the way to relax and take in the amazing views. Made some friends on the way too, 2 ducks swimming on the lake from one side to the other following us without fail. We stopped at the other side of the lake at a bench and the two ducks came to the shore and said hello :)
After an enjoyable day walking around the lake, we packed and left Bohinj behind with a great sunset over the Julien Alps and the promise to return once more next year.
We arrived in the evening to Ljubljana where we spent a few more hours in the city and slept at a Hostel where we almost fall asleep and miss my flight, but everything turned out well eventually.
Such a great place, Slovenia, it has all my respect. Friendly people, great cities, great mountains, great rivers, lakes and awesome food.
Here is a short video of my last 2 days in Bohinj, hope you enjoy it and make sure to stay by because I am continuing my journey in further explore the Romanian Carpathian Mountains.
