Trinculo Shipwreck, Seaspray & Spoonbay Campground | Ninety Mile Beach ????

We explored a few areas in the Ninety Mile Beach/Central Gippsland.

Spoon Bay Camping ground – this is a beautiful free camping spot! It was a spontaneous find and we will definitely be back here with our caravan another time. It is perfectly situated by the beautiful calm lake.

We also went to Seaspray which is a few towns away from Golden Beach, we spent the afternoon here to get some sun and to chill by the beach.

Then finally we headed over to Golden Beach to watch the sunset and to see the full moon at the Trinculo Shipwreck.

The Trinculo is a metal barge that sank off the coat of Golden Beach on the Ninety Mile Beach near Lakes Entrance, east of Melbourne. Fortunately, all the crew escaped and in now serves as a tourist attraction.

The weather report didn't say it would get this bad. It would have been more dangerous to attempt to ride out in this weather than stay and ride it out. The more you pay for a tent the better it will survive when the weather turns bad and because I am motorcycle camping (no car to jump into if things turn bad) I need a tent that doesn't need a second option.

Paradise Beach Vic and surrounds.

The wife, 2 puppies and myself had 5 days away in a rented house at Paradise Beach, the weather was superb on the first 2 days but turned cold and windy for the other 3 days. The bird life in the area is fantastic and you can simply sit on the front balcony and wait for the birds to call in on their way through. Day 1 & 2 were spent walking the dogs along the Ninety Mile Beach and relaxing around the house, day 3 was at Loch Sport trying to catch a fish or 3 but the low barometer wasn't in our favour. Day 4 was spent on a leisurely drive down to McLaughlins Beach, Manns Beach and Robinsons Beach and day 5 saw us heading up past Briagolong to check out Wombat Valley Wild Country Cabins and we were blown away by how great the place looked, we'll be booking a cabin for a week on our next adventure for sure.

March 2009. Nat Fred and Dom head around eastern Victoria in Australia. Stopping first in Warburton, then Bright, via Healesville Sanctuary and finally down to Golden Beach on the 90 Mile Beach, east of Melbourne. Sights on the trip were awe inspiring, beautiful and also tragic in the fire affected areas around Healesville. We thank all along the way for such a great trip, our hearts go out to the victims of Black Saturday and we encourage others to visit the areas to see for yourselves the beauty that still thrives and to replenish a damaged tourist industry!!!!
