Turn of the Century Hinner's Organ at Pickens Presbyterian Church
Joyce Thompson organist of Pickens Presbyterian Church located in Pickens county in the upstate of South Carolina, shows us the historic Hinner's pipe organ. A one manual, tracker, with two pistons, and updated with electric bellows. Steve Grant and Richard Thompson also tell us about the organ.
Please note the musical selections on this program have been cut short do to significant tuning issues we faced during the recording. We had to cut off the heat to avoid noise. This is not typical for OrganHunters. I am grateful Joyce and Steve for playing and hate to have to do this.
Video was recorded some time ago thus the Advent selections.
Please subscribe and share. Sound quality is important to Organ hunters, please use headphones for most authentic sound. The room mics in this situation were located by the first pew. And one can really feel this pipe organ in the room. See pedal stop demo near the end.
Stay for the end to see a tour of the bellow handle.

Ep. 20: Cradle to Grave Part 1 -- Secession Hill
The sleepy town of Abbeville, S.C. has a unique nickname: the cradle and grave of the Confederacy. It was in this cultural and political hub that saw the one of the first mass secession meetings and it was here that Jefferson Davis finally admitted defeat. It was the meeting that we found this week, Under the Kudzu.

Prysmian Tower Time Lapse
Yeargin Potter Shackelford constructed an extra-high voltage cable manufacturing plant for Prysmian in Abbeville, South Carolina. It currently stands as the tallest building in South Carolina. It was also the first facility of its kind to be built in the United States. Since then, however, two other similar facilities have been built, one for Nexans in Goose Creek, South Carolina, and the other for ABB in Huntersville, North Carolina. All three of these facilities were proudly built by Yeargin Potter Shackelford Construction.

Moving Curtain in McGowan Home in Abbeville SC Vid#2
(This is video #2 filmed directly under the moving curtain)I filmed this video outside The McGowan Home in Abbeville SC and as you can plainly see there are 2 curtains side by side. One curtain is clearly moving, and even opens, while the other is not moving at all. Any drafts inside the home would have caused BOTH curtains to move, right?? lol The home is owned by The Abbeville Historic Society and was NOT open to the public. We were walking around the property but could NOT access the home..........no one ( we could see, lol) was inside the home and no one else was on property. (Ann Dowis / Deidre Parks)
