Historic places TO visit in Murshidabad - India.
Of historic interest are Nizamat Kila (the Fortress of the Nawabs), also known as the Hazaarduari Palace (Palace of a Thousand Doors), built by Duncan McLeod of the Bengal Engineers in 1837, in the Italianate style, the Moti Jhil (Pearl Lake) just to the south of the palace, the Muradbagh Palace and the Khushbagh Cemetery, where the remains of Ali Vardi Khan and Siraj Ud Daulah are interred.
Hazarduari Palace is located in the campus of Kila Nizamat of Murshidabad. It was built in the nineteenth century by architect Duncan Macleod, under the reign of Nawab Nazim Humayun Jah of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa (1824--1838). The foundation stone of the palace was laid on August 9, 1829, and that very day the construction work was started. William Cavendish was the then Governor-General. Now, Hazarduari Palace is the most conspicuous building in Murshidabad. In 1985, the palace was handed over to the Archaeological Survey of India for better preservation
The present Nizamat Imambara was built in 1847 AD by Nawab Nazim Mansoor Ali Khan Feradun Jah, who succeeded his father Nawab Nazim Humayun Jah in Murshidabad, India. It was built after the fires of 1842 and 1846 which burnt the wooden Imambara built by Nawab Siraj Ud-Daulah. This Imambara is the largest one in India and Bengal.
The Katra Masjid (also known as Katra Mosque) is a mosque and the tomb of Nawab Murshid Quli Khan built between 1723 and 1724. It is located on the northeastern side of the city. Its importance lies not only as a great center of Islamic learning but also for the tomb of Murshid Quli Khan, who is buried under the entrance staircase. The most striking feature is the two large corner towers having loopholes for musketry. At present, it is maintained and protected by the Archaeological Survey of India and the Government of West Bengal.
Bacchawali Tope is a gun, rather cannon which lies in the Nizamat Fort Campus on the garden space between the Nizamat Imambara and the Hazarduari Palace and to the east of the old Madina Mosque. The cannon consists two pieces of different diameters. The cannon was made between the 12th and 14th century, probably by the Mohammedan rulers of Gaur. It originally lied on the sandbanks of Ichaganj. However, it is unknown how it came in Ichaganj. It was used to protect the city of Murshidabad from north-western attacks. After the 1846 fire of the Nizamat Imambara, the Imambara was rebuilt, then after the completion of the new Imambara, the cannon was shifted to its present site by Sadeq Ali Khan, the architect of the sacred Nizamat Imambara under the suggestion of Sir Henry Torrens, the then agent of the Governor General at Murshidabad.

The Hazarduari Palace
The palace with a thousand doors, is the chief tourist attraction of Murshidabad. Built in 1837 by Duncan McLeod for the Nawab Najim Humaun Jah, a descendant of Mir Zafar, it has a thousand doors (only 900 are real) and 114 rooms and 8 galleries. It is now a museum and has an exquisite collection of armour, splendid paintings, exhaustive portraits of the Nawabs, beautiful works of ivory from China and many other valuable works of art
Nizamat Imambara
It is stands parallel to the north face of the Hazarduari Palace. Built in 1847 AD by Nawab Nazim Mansoor Ali Khan Feradun Jah, it is the largest Imambara in Bengal and is perhaps the largest in India. Around the palace are other attractions such as the Wasef Manzil by the bank of the Ganga, Tripolia Gate, the Dakshin Darwaza, the Chak Darwaza, the Gharighar, the Bachchawali Tope (a cannon) and the Madina, the only surviving structure built by Siraj-ud-Doula.
Katra Masjid
Katra Masjid is situated about a mile in the north eastern side of Murshidabad town and is only 3 Kms from Murshidabad Railway Station. It was built by Nawab Murshid Quli Khan in 1137 A.H., 1723 A.D. The Mosque was built within 1 year by an architect named Murad Farash. Standing on a 54 mtrs high square plinth, this brick built Mosque is surrounded by a row of double storied domed cells which form a cloister to the spacious courtyard in its front. Four huge minars were built at four corners of this quadrangle of which one in the North West and the other in the south west are now surviving. Octagonal in shape the minars taper upwards. There is a winding staircase inside each minar which leads to the top. The Mosque is approachable by a flight of fourteen steps from the east. Below the steps of the Mosque Murshid Quli Khan's mortal remains lie buried from 1727 AD.
Jahankosha Cannon
A quarter of a mile to the south east of Katra Mosque is Tope Khana, the site of the Nawab's Artillery Park and the east entrance gate of the old capital, protected on the east, throughout the length of the eastern limits of the city, by Gobra Nala, known locally as the Katra Jheel. Here lies the great gun called the Jahan Kosha destroyer of the world, which originally rested on a carriage with wheels, embedded in a peepal tree which had grown by its side and held it about four feet high from the ground lifting it up en masse. The wheels have disappeared. The iron work of the carriage and the trunnions are still visible. The cannon is made of a composition of eight metals, namely gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, mercury, iron and tin. It is 17 ft and 6 inches long, with a girth of 5 ft at the touch hole end. The diameter of the touch hole is 1-1/2 inches, and that of the orifice is 6 inches. The cannon weighs about 7,900 kgs and 17 kgs gunpowder was required for a single shelling.
Nasipur Palace
The miniature of the Hazarduari, the Nasipur Royal Palace is situated a little to the north of Akhra, very close to Jagat Seth's house. It was built in the 2nd half of the 19th century by Raja Kirtichand Bahadur who came from Panipath to do business and later who became famous during the devastating famine of 76 as a revenue collector of the British company. The palace is also known as the house of Debi Singha.
Khosh Bagh
Khosh Bagh lies on the opposite banks of Bhagirathi. The grave of Nawab Alivardi Khan, Alivardi's Mother, Siraj-ud-Doula and his wife Lutfannesha and other members of the Nawab family lived here. The Khosh Bagh cemetery is built over 7.65 acres of land.

Itihase Mursidabad_ইতিহাসে মুর্শিদাবাদ
Murshidabad is a district in the state of West Bengal that is situated on the southern bank of the River Bhagirathi. It used to be the capital of undivided Bengal during the rule of the Mughals. The Nawabs of Bengal ruled this historical place for a long time. Many historical buildings with ancient architecture are a part of Murshidabad’s history. Out of them, the most popular building is the Hazar Duari Palace and others are Moti Jhill and Muradbagh Palace. Murshidabad covers a land area of about 5,341 square km. Many agro-based industries including cotton and silk textiles are based here. Murshidabad has witnessed a great deal of Palace politics and treachery that led to the transfer of its control from the last independent Nawab, Siraj-ud-Daulah to the East India Company. This transfer was the result of a contract between the Company and the Nawabs in the year 1757 AD due to the defeat suffered by Siraj-ud-Daulah at the hands of the English troops. The Nawab was later on murdered as a part of the conspiracy between the company and Mir Jafar. It was after this battle, the East India Company shifted its capital to Calcutta and in the early eighteenth century, the city got its present name and shape. The East India Company ruled this province for many years after the battle. Many other kings also ruled different districts here like in the capital city of Sasanka, the king of Gouda ruled in the seventh century AD. The other Pala kings of Bengal were in this district in parts of Mahipala. After the seventh century, Nawab Murshid Quli Khan named Murshidabad as the capital city of Sube Bangla, which also included Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. There are several religions practised by different races here like Buddhism, Vaishnavism, Jainism, Islam and Christianity. Some of the popular places in Murshidabad are Katra Masjid, which was built in 1724 AD by Nawab Murshid Quili Khan. Jahankosh, which is a huge cannon, about 17.5 ft long, was built by Janardhan Karmakar in Decca. Other than these ancient sites, there are palaces like Wasef Manzil that was built by the Nawab of Murshidabad, Sir Wasef Ali Mirza. The main attractions in this palace are the marble stairs and statues. Other attractions here include Traitors Gate, the place where Siraj-ud-Daulah was assassinated, Hazar Dwari Palace and Kathgola.

House of Jagat Seth tour point of Mursidabad||মুর্শিদাবাদ ভ্রমণ||
Jagat Seth
The Jagat Seths were a rich business, banking and money lender family from Murshidabad, Bengal region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, during the time of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula.
Jain Acharya Sri Bhratruchandra Suri was his spiritual guru. The Seths were among the most powerful bankers of India during the first half of 18th century. Roben Orme (official historian of East India Company) described Jagat Seths as the greatest shroff (money changer) and banker in the known world.

EXPLORING THE PLACE IN TUK TUK and videography with my canon 200d camera to create this fun travel vlog was an awesome experience.

It was built in the nineteenth century by architect Duncan Macleod, under the reign of Nawab Nazim Humayun Jah of Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa (1824--1838).
The cannon consists of two pieces of different diameters. The cannon was made between the 12th and 14th century, probably by the Mohammedan rulers of Gaur. It originally lied on the sandbanks of Ichaganj. However, it is unknown how it came in Ichaganj. It was used to protect the city of Murshidabad from north-western attacks. After the 1846 fire of the Nizamat Imambara, the Imambara was rebuilt, then after the completion of the new Imambara, the cannon was shifted to its present site by Sadeq Ali Khan, the architect of the sacred Nizamat Imambara under the suggestion of Sir Henry Torrens, the then agent of the Governor-General at Murshidabad.

Murshidabad losing its Royal culture of 'Nawab'
মুর্শিদাবাদের ঐতিহাসিক ফুটো মসজিদ || Historical Futo Masjid Of Murshidabad || Mon Ja Chai
Fauti Masjid (also Phuti Masjid) is a mosque in the city of Kumarpur, India which was built by Nawab Sarfaraz Khan in 1740 AD. The old Fauti Masjid is one of the largest mosques in the town of Kumarpur and Murshidabad. It is about 3 quarters of a mile away from the grand and famous Hazarduari Palace. This grand mosque is 135 feet long and 38 feet broad.
It is said to have been built by Nawab Sarfaraz Khan in a single night, however it is said that the Nawab hired the masons for several months where the mater role was called one day. Before complition of the mosque the Nawab died or became 'Faut' in a battle with Nawab Alivardi Khan. Hence the people renamed it as Fauti Mosque. It has five domes and four spiral staircases at its four corners surmounted by cupolas. However, the domes are still incomplete.
The mosque at present is in ruins and has been overgrown by a jungle nearby. It may fall any moment.
The Govt should take necessary steps to save this gorgeous structure from ruining .

Even most of the people of Murshidabad do not know the exact location of the tomb of Nawab Sarfaraz Ali Khan. The tomb is located in Naginabagh near Murshidabad Railway Station. The tomb is in the yard of a house that is located to the west of the north platform of the station. Nawab Sarfaraz Ali Khan was defeated in the battle of Giria in 1740 by Alivardi Khan and was killed in the battle.
