Trollhatten & Göta Canal
This is a gathering of clips and images from our 2012 trip through the Trollhatten - Gothenburg Kanal Trip. We set out from our home town, Stavanger, and made our way to Kristiansand on the South of Norway, and directly crossed through the North Sea to Gothenburg. The trip took roughly a month, and we hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed ourselves during it.
The reason I have edited all these clips from 2012 now, is to use it as an introduction to our 2014 summers big trip, starting from Stavanger, ending in Turkey, where the boat will be moored from now on. The trip will take us through canals in Europe, as well as coasts of the Mediterranean sea. A detailed trip plan is at the end of these video. Based on the views and subscriptions we will record and upload this trip simultaneously, and may release some instructional videos on how to prepare for a trip like this, what gear to bring, and how we tackle challenges as we encounter them. Feel free to let us know in the comments if this is something you would be interested in.
I own the video but song's rights are their respective owners. No infringment intended.

Ostindienfararen Götheborg i Trollhättan

Trollhättan - the old sluices
During the 1700s, work began to build locks for assignments from King Charles XII to more easily get past the roaring falls and avoid tranship. Towards the end of the 1700s, they decided to dig a new channel east of the cases furrow resulting in Berg Canal.
In 1800 the waterway was finished with eight locks in two stages. But just a few years after the first ship passed through the locks was the canal done and the old lock joints past Trollhättan were considered to have low capacity.
In 1838 was established new Trollhättan Canal and the Nils Ericson in the lead began the waterway that was to be completed in 1844. Sluice trail consisted of 11 locks in three stages and was able to channel ships with loads up to 300 tons. Sluice trail was in use until 1916 when the new, current canal route, was completed by a further enlarged locks and leads for transportation of vessels with a weight of 4,000 tons.

Trollhättan // A travel film
I recently travelled to Trollhättan near the Göta canal in Sweden. I really enjoyed the trip, and I tried hard to showcase this beautiful city through this film. I hope you enjoyed it, and if you do please:
